China says it will retaliate after US blacklists companies

China has said it will take “necessary measures” to respond to the blacklisting of Chinese companies by the United States over their alleged role in abuses of Uighur people and other Muslim ethnic minorities.

The Commerce Ministry said the US move constituted an “unreasonable suppression of Chinese enterprises and a serious breach of international economic and trade rules”.

China will “take necessary measures to firmly safeguard Chinese companies’ legitimate rights and interests”, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday. https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2021/7/11/china-says-it-will-retaliate-after-us-blacklists-companies

The US is playing a dangerous game with its sanctions and blacklisting of companies.

That being said, China has its own issues as well. Jim Rickard posted the following:

China: Fragile Giant

An objective analysis of China must begin with its enormous strengths. China has the third-largest territory in the world, with the world’s largest population (although soon to be overtaken by India).

China also has the fifth-largest nuclear arsenal in the world, … China is the largest gold producer in the world at about 500 metric tonnes per year.

Its economy is the second-largest economy in the world — behind only the U.S. China’s foreign exchange reserves (including gold) are the largest in the world. …

China remains reliant on assembly-style jobs and has shown no promise of breaking into the high-income ranks.

To escape the middle income trap requires more than cheap labor and infrastructure investment. It requires applied technology to produce high-value added products. This explains why China has been so focused on stealing U.S. intellectual property.

China has not shown much capacity for developing high technology on its own, but it has been quite effective at stealing such technology from trading partners and applying it through its own system of state-owned enterprises and “national champions” such as Huawei in the telecommunications sector.

But the U.S. and other countries are cracking down on China’s technology theft and China cannot generate the needed technology through its own R&D.

In short, and despite enormous annual growth in the past twenty years, China remains fundamentally a poor country with limited ability to improve the well-being of its citizens much beyond what has already been achieved. And that has serious implications for China’s leadership…

China’s economy is not just about providing jobs, goods and services. It is about regime survival for a Chinese Communist Party that faces an existential crisis if it fails to deliver. 07/08/21 https://dailyreckoning.com/china-fragile-giant/

China has several positives, yet several negatives. On the positive side, it has tremendous economical growth and it has substantial manufacturing capabilities. The economic standard of living for many there has greatly improved. Because of that and its high population, many believe that China will dominate the world economically this century–but that will not really be the case–Bible prophecy points to a European power, temporarily (cf. Revelation 18), for that.

China has problems. Not all have benefited much from its economic growth. One of the things that most Westerners do not realize is that China has a system that prevents its citizens from agrarian areas from having the same rights as those in urban areas. It is called the hukou. Here is more information about that:

Through a rigorous and rigid household registration system designed to control the movement of China’s 1.3 billion people, the central government classifies all its citizens as either city dwellers or rural peasants. The registration, also known in Chinese as hukou, determines not only a citizen’s residence but also what kind of social services individuals are eligible for…In Beijing, which has an estimated 5 million migrant workers, none of these people are allowed to obtain state-sponsored health care or schooling if their hukou is registered in their hometowns—which most likely it is. Even people who move from agrarian regions to the cities, still are registered as agrarian/rural and do not get the same rights or even education for their children. This disparity, combined with severe pollution, corruption, and a host of other problems, has affected China more than most realize. As it turns out, most Chinese do not trust the Chinese government, and how accurate some of its economic data is has been questioned by many inside and outside of China.

China will NOT be the power that pushes aside the USA–the Bible shows Europe will (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

Furthermore, the Bible teaches that it will be Europe that will dominate world trade. For example, the Bible teaches the following about an end time European power:

2 … Babylon … 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury. (Revelation 18:2,3)

The above is referring to the fact that nations of the world are prophesied to get wealthy trading with end time Babylon, which will be a European entity.

Because of biblical prophecies for Europe to dominate, combined with news reports of China’s power and strength, something will happen in Europe for it to rise up (and that, in my view, will have to do with technology and a coming pestilence) and something will happen for China to be bypassed (perhaps civil disturbance and/or the coming pestilence of Revelation 6:7-8).

China does have power, but China is more fragile than most think.

On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA?
