China tells India it is not warlike as the two nations make deals

(Reuters) – China is not a warlike nation, President Xi Jinping said on Thursday, during a rare trip to neighbor India that was dominated by a standoff on a barren Himalayan plateau between soldiers from the world’s two most populous nations.

Robust comments from India’s new prime minister Narendra Modi about the dispute in territory claimed by both Asian giants overshadowed Xi’s pledge of $30 billion investments in South Asia over five years, including $20 billion in India.

“A warlike state, however big it may be, will eventually perish,” Xi said in a speech, adding that China believed its neighbors were key to its wellbeing.

He said China was committed to the path of peaceful development, addressing concerns in Asia about Beijing’s increasingly assertive territorial claims including in the South China Sea, a vital global trade route.

But the mood was stern when Modi and Xi emerged from a long meeting to address reporters soon after officials confirmed that soldiers had pulled back from their positions in a western Himalayan region claimed by India and China.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi won a pledge from Chinese President Xi Jinping to invest $20 billion as the leaders sought to adjust a lopsided trade relationship and resolve a flare-up on their disputed border.

Leaders of the world’s two most populous countries today announced a five-year plan in which China would invest $20 billion to help reduce India’s largest trade deficit with any single country. China will also help set up industrial parks in the Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, which Modi ran before taking power in May.

“We agreed that our economic relations do not do justice to our potential,” Modi said at a joint briefing with Xi in New Delhi today. China is attempting to create an international coalition that it can influence as it wants to eventually dethrone the USA’s economic and military dominance of the world. India is one piece of that plan.

While China, on its own, will not dethrone the USA (it will also need Europe), it very well may cooperate ultimately with the Europeans for this to happen.

German Chancellor Merkel has made many trips to China (see Angela Merkel to China again; any ramifications for the USA, Australia, or New Zealand?) and neither Europe nor China want the USA to have the type of power it now has.

That being said, the Bible does tell of a coming military alliance between the powers in Asia which would include China and almost assuredly India (Revelation 9:13-18; 16:12-16). The meetings between the leaders there are preludes to the type of cooperation we can expect to see in the future. Both of those nations would be expected to provide troops for the coming 200 million man army the Bible warns will form and be involved with Armageddon:

13 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed–by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths(Revelation 9:13-18).

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. 15 Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.” 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon (Revelation 16:12-16).

While Armageddon is at least seven years off, only China, and possibly India and others in Asia (which may align themselves with Russia against the European Empire per Jeremiah 50:41-42), are capable of fielding a two hundred million man army. Closer ties between the Asians, despite occasional setbacks, will result in the fulfillment of biblical prophecies.
