Donald Trump issued a statement Monday calling for a total shutdown of the Clinton Foundation. …
More extreme rhetoric from a candidate who specializes in it? Maybe. But if that’s the case, Trump’s fellow extremists include Cokie Roberts, the Huffington Post and the Boston Globe.
Just hours before Trump put out his statement, Roberts on NPR’s “Morning Edition” said this about a recently published batch of emails suggesting foundation donors received special access to the State Department while Clinton was secretary of state: “I think it contributes to all of the concern about her honesty and trustworthiness. My personal view is they should shut down that foundation, but the ability to do that with ongoing programs is very difficult.”
This is the same Roberts who in March co-wrote a newspaper column in which she took a firm stance against Trump, prompting NPR to clarify that she is a commentator, not a straight news reporter, and a contributor, not a staff member. …
Last week, the Boston Globe editorial board wrote that “the foundation should remove a political — and actual — distraction and stop accepting funding. If Clinton is elected, the foundation should be shut down.”
This is the same Boston Globe that in April printed a satirical front page imagining the troubling headlines that the newspaper might run during a Trump presidency and editorialized that “Donald J. There are others who have objections, but ‘you get the picture’–people realize that the Clinton Foundation is ethically an issue.
Furthermore, foreign governments who want influence and favor might decide to provide money now so that they will have influence should Hillary Clinton be elected as the next USA President.

Trump has repeatedly slammed the nonprofit for accepting money from foreign countries, including some with poor human rights records. He says the donations amounted to corrupt “pay for play” practices.
Clinton, who served as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, says she kept her work at the State Department separate from those at the foundation, which does philanthropic work around the globe.
Conflict of interest?
But recently unveiled emails suggest there was some overlap.
Feeling the pressure, the foundation last week announced it would stop accepting foreign and corporate donations if Hillary Clinton were elected president. It also said her husband, former President Bill Clinton, would step down from the group’s board.
That hasn’t been enough to satisfy some critics. This week, the left-leaning Huffington Post ran the headline “Just Shut It Down” – linking to a 2015 New York Times expose on the foundation – and joined the editorial boards of The Boston Globe and the New York Post in that assessment.
“It’s pretty obvious the Clinton Foundation has presented loads of problems and conflicts of interests for Hillary Clinton so far,” said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics. “They would be far better off just shutting it down. But they’re not willing.”
No smoking gun?
The emails suggest State Department aides to Clinton looked into doing favors for Clinton Foundation donors or those linked to donors. But nothing has shown that the favors were actually granted.
Most of the accusations have focused on two separate instances.
Shortly after Clinton stepped down as its secretary in 2013, the State Department expressed interest in, but didn’t follow through with, buying real estate from a Nigerian company run by a man whose brother donated at least $1 million to the Clinton Foundation.
In another instance, a senior Clinton Foundation official, Doug Band, asked a top Clinton aide at the State Department about getting a job for an individual whom he said it was “important to take care of.” The individual, whose name was redacted in the email, was subsequently sent “options,” according to a reply by Huma Abedin, the State Department aide. It has long been my view that if the public saw the emails that Hillary Clinton had removed/scrubbed from her server, it would show many problems. Even though VOA is an official US government agency, its news coverage has tended to support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

New Emails Show Clinton Foundation Sought Access to State Department on Donors’ Behalf
Emails released Monday provide new examples of a Clinton Foundation official seeking access to the State Department on behalf of donors at a time when Hillary Clinton led the department.
The emails—obtained through a lawsuit by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch—could fuel criticism that the Clinton family’s charitable foundation, in fundraising with wealthy donors, corporations and foreign nations, created a conflict of interest for Mrs. Clinton during her work as the nation’s top diplomat.
In an exchange from June 2009, a Clinton Foundation official and longtime aide to former President Bill Clinton wrote to Huma Abedin, a top adviser to Mrs. Clinton at the State Department, seeking a meeting between the crown prince of Bahrain and Mrs. Clinton.
“Cp of Bahrain in tomorrow to Friday. Asking to see her,” the official, Doug Band, wrote, using shorthand for “crown prince.” He added: “Good friend of ours.”
Ms. Abedin, a longtime confidante of Mrs. Clinton who is now working for her campaign, responded that Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al Khalifa had sought a meeting with Mrs. Clinton the previous week “thru normal channels,” and that the secretary of state had said she “doesn’t want to commit to anything for Thurs or Fri until she knows how she will feel.”

So, there are more emails coming out painting a picture of ‘pay for play.’ This is something I tend to believe happened a lot.

Leonardo DiCaprio was scheduled to host a fundraiser with Hillary Clinton on Tuesday at his home in L.A.,” a source told People magazine Sunday. “Unfortunately, Leo is stuck in New York until Wednesday to finish his current project.”
Though the 41-year-old actor blamed it on a scheduling conflict, he is not filming any movies right now. …
One report speculates that DiCaprio called off the fundraiser because he was recently linked to a $3 billion Malaysian embezzlement scandal.
“Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice filed an asset-seizure complaint in federal court pertaining to a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund called 1MDB,” the Hollywood Reporter noted Monday.
“The fund allegedly backed Red Granite Pictures, the production company behind DiCaprio’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ He is mentioned only as ‘Hollywood Actor 1’ in the complaint, but it suggests the actor’s eponymous foundation may have benefited from gifts made by Red Granite, its principal Riza Aziz and a key 1MDB figure named Jho Low.”

So, another foundation has issues. Whether or not he cancelled something that he must have planned for because of his or her foundation issues or another reason, this does seem odd.

Colin Powell Blasts Hillary Clinton’s Team for ‘Trying to Pin’ Private Email Use on Him
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has spoken out against claims that his email use in some way excused the way in which Hillary Clinton handled her email while she was secretary of state.
“Her people have been trying to pin it on me,” Powell told People at an event in the Hamptons in New York this weekend.
“The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” he told the magazine.
It is unclear exactly when Clinton started using her personal email server, but the Inspector General’s report states that she “employed a personal email system to conduct business during her tenure in the United States Senate and her 2008 presidential campaign.” Clinton started serving as a senator for New York in January 2001 and started working as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state in January 2009.
Powell’s comments come after portions of Clinton’s interview with the FBI over her email practices were released to Congress last week.
In the FBI notes, The New York Times reported, Clinton alleged that Powell advised her to use a private email account and that in 2009 he emailed her about his email practices at the State Department but by that point she was already using her own server. …
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus released a statement after the reports, saying that Clinton’s team was “falsely trying to pin her email woes on Colin Powell, raising serious questions about whether she lied to the FBI.” http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/colin-powell-blasts-hillary-clintons-team-pin-private/story?id=41570285
This again shows that Hillary Clinton was not upfront and honest about her State Department emails.
That being said, it has long been my view that Hillary Clinton has been involved in scandals and other activities that would have landed regular people in jail, or at least so discredited that they would not try to run for the office of President of the United States.
This does NOT mean that her political opponents, like Donald Trump are necessarily better, but she has a long history of problems.
Whether Hillary Clinton (Democrat), Donald Trump (Republican), Gary Johnson (Libertarian), or Jill Stein (Green) win this election, this does not bode well for the USA.
The USA needs national repentance.
