- Annual consumer price inflation across the 19-member euro area hit a fresh record high of 8.1% in May.
- Following its latest monetary policy meeting, the Governing Council announced that it intends to raise its key interest rates by 25 basis points at its July meeting.
- Policymakers face the challenge of reining in inflation without compounding the economic slowdown resulting from the war in Ukraine and the associated sanctions. …
Policymakers face the challenge of reining in inflation without compounding the economic slowdown resulting from the war in Ukraine and the associated sanctions and embargoes imposed between the European Union and Russia, previously a key source of energy imports for the bloc.
Economists have been torn on whether to expect hikes of 25 basis points or 50 basis points at the July and September meetings, with the ECB broadly expected to climb out of negative rate territory by the end of September from its current historic low of -0.5%.
Slowing growth, higher inflation
The ECB also downgraded its growth forecasts and upwardly revised its inflation projections. …
Randall Kroszner, professor of economics at the University of Chicago and former governor of the Federal Reserve System, told CNBC … “Inflation is very high, it has the potential to become entrenched unless [ECB policymakers] move, and they move aggressively and make it clear that they are going to be moving further,” Kroszner told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe” on Thursday. …

As the above indicates, inflation is not the only economic problem facing the European Union. And a 0.25% interest rate increase is also not enough to stop inflation.
Although the Bible tells of a time (cf. Revelation chapters 13,17, and 18) of European economic dominance, the Bible also tells of a time Europe will reorganize and decide to be ruled by a totalitarian dictator it calls the beast:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13, NKJV throughout unless otherwise specified)
These ten kings have no kingdom, but are to attain one. Thus, this is a type of reorganization in verse 12. Since they give their power to the Beast in verse 13, this is a second reorganization. The “beast” is not shown to have much power prior to Revelation 17:12-13.
Historically, people tend to go for a strong man of some type after one or more crises. He will essentially be a driver of a more unified Europe. The Bible also teaches he will be militarily successful (Daniel 11:39-43; Revelation 13:3-5).
Now, the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, had a view about banking matters and European unity. Here is something he said in a sermon on July 7, 1984:
And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…
But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger…that is the economic situation in the world…
The whole banking structure in the United States is a network all jointed together. But not only that, one nation has to deal with other nations and imports and exports. And so they have to have a means of transforming money from one nation to another. And so the banking structure is international and interwoven…
Now when the financial structure breaks down, all civilization is going to break down…
So, an economic or banking crisis is what Herbert W. Armstrong concluded would drive Europe to unite. Islamic migration, food price inflation, distrust of the USA, and fear will also be factors in Europe uniting. Europe will become militaristic, and is in the process of doing so.

Is the European Beast Growing Horns?

The ECB has taken, and likely will take, steps that will either cause a major economic crisis, or at least not be in a position to prevent one from coming in the next several years.
As far as crises, the way COVID was handled shows that governments are willing to push totalitarian rules and people will often along with them when they have fear.
Another pandemic will come–and it will be worse than COVID. The Beast will rise up after each of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse begin their ride. They will cause economic and civil havoc, as well as fear. The third horseman is associated with food price inflation.

Problems with the ECB, the US dollar, fear, etc. may all be factors that will get Europe to decide to reorganize and support a dictator that the Bible calls the Beast.
The ECB will not stop that from happening.

Biological Warfare and Prophecy Is biological warfare possible? Was it prophesied? Scientists have long warned that pathogenic organisms like the coronavirus could be weaponized. Furthermore, back in 2017, there were concerns that the biological research facility being constructed in Wuhan, China was risky and that a coronavirus from it could be released. On January 25, 2020, China’s President Xi Jinping publicly stated that the situation with the Wuhan-related strain of the coronavirus was grave.
