A reader sent me the following which is in a newsletter by COG-Cincinnati:

The blood on Trump has caused a worldwide sensation that has dramatically increased his persona. There is an awe about him now. He was just another politician and now he is brave, dogged, unrelenting, and there’s an unspoken sense that God protects him. America longs for such a leader.
Adam Smith, father of free-market economics, used the term ‘unseen hand’ to refer to the mechanism that controls a capitalistic economy. That’s how Trump is now viewed. There’s an unseen hand protecting him. Fani Willis is destroyed. Liz Chaney is toast. The New York AG and the prosecutor may eventually be indicted. Pence is politically ruined.
If they had never attacked Trump, he may have faded into oblivion. His enemies made him a liberator.
It isn’t a matter of whether you are for Trump or against him, whether you despise his texts or dislike the rhetoric he uses on his opponents. There is a drama being played out on the world scene that is bigger than the man. And we are witnessing the saga with little power to change it.
The biblical story of Daniel carries a striking parallel that provides profound insight into the circumstances we are now experiencing. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that troubled him so much that he sought an explanation from his religious advisors. They failed to solve the riddle, which angered the king so much that he was about to execute all his advisors. This explains a lot about a king’s ego.
Daniel asked for time to seek an answer from God. He was rewarded for his faith with an explanation that outlined the world’s history from Daniel’s day all the way to the return of Jesus.
What was the purpose of the dreams and Daniel’s revelation? One of the deepest mysteries of life is revealed in this scenario. The purpose of prophecy and the answer to the political machinations of our time are expressed four times throughout the Book of Daniel. I’ll only write it once.
‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers,
And the sentence by the word of the holy ones,
In order that the living may know
That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,
Gives it to whomever He will,
And sets over it the lowest of men.’
Daniel 4:17
Some of us think Joe Biden is the lowest of men, and others think that describes Donald Trump. The reality is that God rules the political kingdom of men, and He will give power to the person He chooses. If the man truly is a lowlife, to use our vernacular, He gave us the leader we deserve. When God blesses a nation and they turn from Him, He will give them the worst men to lead the nation into tribulation. That is the story of Israel.
If the people turn to God and repent of their sins, He will provide a leader to bring blessings to them. The thought-provoking part is that both men may be the lowest of men. Nebuchadnezzar was not a “good” man when Daniel met him. He was willing to kill every one of his advisors because they could not interpret a dream! Who wants a tyrant like that to lead the nation?
Nebuchadnezzar went through seven years of tribulation, living as an animal, and that experience developed humility in the king. At the end of the time, he rejected the false gods of Babylon and converted to worshiping the Creator God. He even wrote one chapter of the Book of Daniel. …
Don’t be distracted by the politics—God is the unseen hand that controls the economy and the politics.

While I do not recall ever meeting Jim O’Brien, we did speak a couple of times years ago.
God will decide who will be the next President of the United States, as He knows who will take certain steps that will lead to the fulfillment of prophecies in His word.
Consider, at this time, J.D. Vance, from a prophetic perspective. Whether or not be becomes president or even vice president, the fact that he has been nominated is setting of further shock waves in Europe.

Already anxious about former U.S. President Donald Trump pulling off a return to the White House, European leaders have been given another major cause for alarm — his pick of Ohio firebrand Senator JD Vance as running mate. …
Overall, Vance’s presence in the White House is likely to supercharge Trump’s NATO skepticism. He’ll be no pro-NATO whisperer like Trump’s former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, and he won’t be trying to ease the concerns of European allies while gently scolding them like former Trump VP Mike Pence.
Vance is as critical of “freeloading” European NATO members as is his boss. “Even if we assumed, and it’s wrong, but even if we assumed that NATO was carrying its fair share of the burden over the last 18 months, NATO has failed to carry its fair share of the burden for literally decades, ladies and gentlemen,” he said in a February speech. “Look just at how much money the United States has spent on defense since 1992, and compare that to our NATO allies.” …
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s tapping Vance as his running mate has exasperated the very experts he disdains. “Goodbye, NATO!” tweeted Swedish economist and former Atlantic Council fellow Anders Åslund, whose prediction may well be spot on — at least when it comes to the organization as we’ve known it. …
Europe still seems in shock over a possible Trump sequel. EU leaders appeared to consign such a nightmare scenario to the back of their minds for the past two years in lieu of preparing for a Trump return. Last year, the former president’s legal woes allowed them to breathe a little easier, but now they’re scrambling once again to “Trump-proof” NATO, whatever that means — or whether it’s even possible. …

Like Trump, Vance firmly believes the U.S. is wedding itself too close to the continent at a time when East Asia should be receiving most attention from the U.S. foreign policy and defense establishment. “The United States has to focus more on East Asia,” Vance told a European conference this spring. “That is going to be the future of U.S. foreign policy for the next 40 years, and Europe has to wake up to that fact.” This isn’t an extreme position. The last three U.S. administrations have acknowledged that the center of gravity in international relations is moving to Asia due to the rise of China’s power and the corresponding rise of China’s ambitions in the region. With the U.S. moving more of its attention, diplomatic capital, and military resources east, the Europeans will need to pick up some of the slack in maintaining security and stability on their own continent. …

The Europeans are concerned.
The Europeans will take more steps to separate themselves from the USA. This does not mean that NATO must be abandoned.
Yet, I have felt for decades, the Europeans will one day attack the USA deceptively under the guise of a NATO exercise. Plus, the Europeans will probably will have ground assistance from Mexico, a nation that Donald Trump has repeatedly offended during his campaign. Europe will also likely have some assistance from Russia and even China.
Various leaders in Europe have been calling for a stronger military so that that Europe is NOT dependent upon the USA or NATO (e.g. Karl-Theodore zu Guttenberg wants to break German dependence on the military of the USA and European leaders propose reorganization: A prelude to Revelation 17:12-13?).
Since Donald Trump’s election in 2016, many leaders in Europe publicly stated that Europe must defend itself. And within a year of his election the EU formed PESCO {which can be considered as} the EU’s alternative to NATO.
Now, with Donald Trump’s rising in the polls, plus his selection of J.D. Vance as his vice president, this is getting Europe to try to hasten steps to increase Europe’s military might.
Many in Europe see this as reasonable and logical–particularly in the light of real and alleged comments from Donald Trump as well as J.D. Vance.
While we should watch world events as Jesus taught (cf. Mark 13:1-37), remember, as Jim O’Brien wrote:

Without national repentance, the USA is doomed.
And while your nation is not likely to repent, you can.
