Congress approves additional increases in debt; Rush Limbaugh calls for the Republican party to be disbanded

The Congress of the USA seems determined to continue to increase the debt of the USA:

Washington — Congress is about to add hundreds of billions of dollars to the national budget deficit, yet the “deficit hawks” on Capitol Hill are largely silent.

“Maybe they should be on the endangered species list,” quipped House minority leader Nancy Pelosi, in a briefing with reporters last Friday.

End-of-year, must-pass monster spending bills are always an ugly business. Both sides say they deplore the practice. But this year’s double whammy – a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill and a tax bill expected to cost $780 billion over the next 10 years – is arguably worse. The House passed the tax bill on Thursday, 318 to 109, and takes up the spending bill on Friday. The Senate is expected to pass the measures after they clear the House.

“The deal not only adds to the debt, it also squanders most of the hard-earned savings from either the ‘fiscal cliff’ deal ($800 billion in revenue) or the sequester (more than $900 billion in spending cuts),” said the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, in a statement.

Prior to its actual approval, radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh had some comments expressing his disappointment with this:

Conservative talk-radio king Rush Limbaugh went on the warpath against the Republican Party during his recent broadcast, chastising the GOP’s relinquishing of the “power of the purse” to President Obama, via passage of the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill, and saying in the bluntest of terms: the party of the so-called ideological right ought to just toss out the white flag.

First Limbaugh spoke of lawmakers’ failure to maintain “the primary power the House has” to serve as a keeper of the taxpayer dime, saying “not a penny of money can be spent in this country by this government without the House of Representatives authorizing it.”

He went on, speaking of the Republicans’ backing of Obama’s $1.1 trillion wish list of spending items, saying members of the GOP, under the leadership of newly minted Speaker Paul Ryan, “squandered that … for some inexplicable reason.”

Limbaugh pointed out the bill “fully funds Planned Parenthood,” a fact he sees as “beyond comprehension,” given the recent videos that have emerged about the organization’s baby parts’ selling scheme.

“It is a total squandering of moral authority to fully fund the butchery at Planned Parenthood,” Limbaugh said, adding the bill also provides “every dime asked for by Obama on all of this idiocy that’s tied up into climate change.” …

And his solution?

“There is no Republican Party,” Limbaugh said. “You know, we don’t even need a Republican Party if they’re going to do this. Obviously, Rush Limbaugh is disappointed about the actions of a party he has tended to be a supporter of for decades. Whether or not a political party should be disbanded can be debated, but that will not fix the USA.

The accumulation of debt is the result of immoral decisions (watch, for example, Abortion, the Bible, and US Debt). Voting for another party will not resolve it, as what the USA needs is repentance and the Kingdom of God (see also Should a Christian Vote?).

Very few in the USA realize just how bad all this debt and deficit spending is.

The lifestyle of the USA has been greatly subsidized through debt–Americans have made themselves rich in the past several decades through borrowing directly and indirectly (printing up currency backed up by loans) from others around the world.

The Bible warns about the consequences of what the USA has been doing.

6…’How horrible it will be for the one who makes himself rich with what is not his own and makes himself wealthy on loans. How long will this go on?‘7 Won’t your creditors suddenly rise up and those who are going to shake you wake up? Then you will become their prize.8 You have looted many nations. All the rest of the people will loot you because of the slaughter and violence done to lands, cities, and all their inhabitants. (Habakkuk 2:6-8), God’s Word Translation)

The USA continues to base parts of its wealth on borrowing–borrowing money that it does not intend to pay back. This is wicked (Psalm 37:21) and will not end well for the USA.

Rush Limbaugh has, in the past, called Republican leaders, “our guys.’ Yet they, like various religious leaders, have broken promises and not done what they pledged to do in various areas.

As far as certain governmental leaders go, notice that the Bible teaches the following:

12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52)

Now, let me add that I do not believe that the USA will be destroyed this year in fulfillment of the prophecies of Deuteronomy 28:47-52 (see also the Can the Great Tribulation Start in 2016?). Actually, I do not believe that it can happen until well after the end of the second Obama term.

But what the USA (both Congress and the Executive branch) is doing does have major ramifications.

The USA keeps playing this dangerous game of increasing debt, even though some politicians see some of its dangers. The cost the USA will face ultimately will be worse than what would happen by not agreeing to a debt raising bill this month.
