COVID: The Divided States of America & European protests

COVID policies remain in the news.

Vaccines and masks are being pushed by many political leaders as well as many in the media:

US President Joe Biden has called for states to offer $100 (£71) to the newly vaccinated in an effort to address flagging jab rates amid virus surges.

The president also issued a strict new vaccine requirement for US federal workers, the nation’s largest workforce with some two million people.

The order requires employees to show proof of vaccination or be subjected to mandatory testing and masking.

House Republicans staged a maskless protest on Thursday against the latest COVID-19 protocols in Congress, put in place amid a spike in new infections in Washington, D.C., and around the country.

COVID responses, including vaccine policies, have been dividing the USA both politically as well as geographically.

 Political leaders in California and New York City on Monday ordered government workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or face regular tests, ratcheting up the pressure on reluctant residents in a bid to stem a rise in infections blamed on the Delta variant.

New York City will require its more than 300,000 employees to get vaccinated by Sept. 13 or get tested weekly, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. The crackdown came a week after the United States’ most populous city passed a vaccine mandate for all healthcare workers at city-run hospitals and clinics.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said that all state employees, some 246,000 people, would be ordered to get vaccinated starting Aug. 2 or undergo COVID-19 testing at least once a week.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, on Thursday signed an executive order prohibiting cities and other government entities in the state from enacting vaccine requirements or mask mandates to protect against the coronavirus, even as the virus’s more contagious delta variant drives another surge in covid-19 cases in Texas.

Abbott’s order applies to any government entities receiving state funds, including counties, cities, school districts, public health authorities and government officials. He also declared that there be “no covid-19-related operating limits for any business or other establishment” in the state in order to “ensure the ability of Texans to preserve livelihoods while protecting lives.” …

Several Democrats blasted Abbott’s executive order Thursday, accusing the governor of caring more about his political career than his constituents. Abbott is running for reelection next year for a third term and two of his Republican primary challengers have criticized him as being overly reliant on the federal government in his response to the pandemic. …

Abbott’s executive order came the same day President Joe Biden announced that all federal employees must be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Federal employees who chose not to get the vaccine will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing at work, as well as be tested regularly for the coronavirus.

“This is not about red states and blue states. It’s literally about life and death. Political considerations, more than actual science and concern for health, have driven many COVID-blamed policies, not just in the USA, but around the world.

The United States of America, itself, is becoming so disconnected with its Constitution, and so divided, it is more and more the ‘Disunited States of America’. Of course, the idea of such disunity is not new as the cover of the 2006 book, The Disunited States of America, (which I have not read) suggests.

Jesus taught:

25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (Matthew 12:25)

There is more divide in the USA and parts of it certainly appear to be intentional. Much of it is ideological. The USA is quite disunited and is becoming more polarized. This will not end well for the USA (cf. Ezekiel 7:23-24; Daniel 11:39, see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

Now, problems are not just limited to the USA–but problems in the USA are setting the stage for a totalitarian rise which some have called a global reset.

A reset that will occur essentially when the USA is no more (cf. Daniel 11:39).

There are also issues in Europe:

Some think COVID restrictions could last for over a decade:


While the Bible prophesies that Europe will have unity problems (Daniel 2:41-43), it also prophesies that it will unite, for a time (Revelation 17:12-13).

While this ultimately will end in disaster for Europe, it will have prosperity and great control before it does (Revelation 18).

But, no it will not be this year or next.

Yet, it will be soon.

COVID policies are pushing the world towards the acceptance of totalitarianism, even as many protest aspects of it.

That being said, let’s look at some passages from the New Testament Christians should take comfort in:

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

14b … He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. (Revelation 17:14)

Yes, faithful Christians can have comfort. Put your trust in Jesus, not in the USA policies or European reset plans.
