Dangerous Donald wins Indiana: Europe concerned

Donald Trump’s virtual victory in the race for the US Republican presidential nomination, following his win in Indiana and rival Ted Cruz’s exit, has made headlines around the world. …
In France, centre-right newspaper Le Figaro says Ted Cruz “has lost his insane bet” and has been “flattened by the Donald Trump steamroller”.
Left-leaning Liberation said Indiana’s primary was a “turning point in the campaign”.
“So this Wednesday morning, Europe wakes up to Donald Trump across the Atlantic as the presumptive Republican nominee. A man who many considered just a few months ago as a clown. Many voters vote Trump precisely because he has no political experience and has never held elected office.” …
In Germany, conservative Die Welt says “the craziest US presidential election campaign begins”, and that “the unthinkable has come to pass”.
It says many Democrats think a Trump win means “an easy game” for Hillary Clinton, but cautions that the continued strong showing for her left-wing challenger Bernie Sanders means “she still has a problem with winning over the anti-establishment camp”.
“And if the last eleven months has taught us anything about Trump, it is that you mustn’t underestimate him”.
Munich’s centre-left Sueddeutsche Zeitung, declares Mr Trump’s Indiana win the “unbelievable” culmination of a “historic election marked by an element of madness”.
“Shock! it’s Trump!” declares the centre-right Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “There’s no doubt now, it will be Trump versus Clinton”. …
In the Netherlands, liberal NRC says Mr Trump has rewritten the rules of campaigning for decades to come. “From a farcical act, it became a party revolt, and it finished last night with a Republican power grab”.
The paper says his rival Ted Cruz saw himself as the saviour of the Republican Party, a second Moses. “But Republicans, like the Israelites, worshipped the Golden Calf.” http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-36202175
So, there are a couple of points I would like to make.
Donald Trump is a concern to the Europeans. They see him as a media-clown who does not like Europe. They have hoped him getting the Republican nomination was ‘unthinkable.’
Donald Trump tends to see the Europeans as a bunch of wealthy nations that have been protected by the USA for decades, and have not paid their fair share for that protection. Donald Trump also thinks that the Europeans have been incredibly foolish on taking in so many Islamic immigrants.
On that last point, many in Europe agree. On the first point, Europeans may actually realize there is truth in what Donald Trump has said, but they are still offended by it.
Now, in the headline, I referred to Donald Trump as ‘Dangerous Donald.’ Donald Trump will not ‘make America great again.’ He is dangerous for many reasons, but prophetically, one of them is whether or not he becomes the next President of the United States, his popularity has shown the Europeans that the USA does not care too much for Europe and considers that Europe should spend more on arms.
Europe actually is developing arms–and they will be used in ways the USA does not comprehend. One day, the USA will be taken over by a power in Europe (Daniel 11:39; see also Who is the King of the North?) even though not even the Europeans now seem to think they would do it (Isaiah 10:7; see also Germany in Biblical Prophecy).
Also consider the Dutch paper’s comment, “But Republicans, like the Israelites, worshipped the Golden Calf.”
From a religious perspective, it makes little sense that evangelicals and Roman Catholics would support Donald Trump. In February of this year, Pope Francis seemed to publicly doubt Donald Trump’s claim of Christianity (see Pope Francis enters USA politics by suggesting Donald Trump is not a Christian), so one would think that Roman Catholics would not be Donald Trump supporters.
As far as evangelicals go, Ted Cruz claimed to be one of them–but according to what I heard on the news last night, evangelicals in Indiana were at least as inclined towards Donald Trump which seems odd.
Why?
Well, ignoring his bombastic statements, history of adultery, etc., Donald Trump’s own words clearly have admitted that he does not understand Christianity. Consider the following:
July 18, 2015
Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.“I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” he said. “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.”
Trump said that while he hasn’t asked God for forgiveness, he does participate in Holy Communion. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/18/politics/trump-has-never-sought-forgiveness/
The Bible teaches:
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:7-9)
The Bible also says that Christians are to repent (Acts 2:38) AND examine themselves before taking the bread and wine (1 Corinthians 11:27-29), but Donald Trump apparently does not really believe in things like that.
Getting back to the Dutch paper’s comment about worshiping the “golden calf,” many in the USA are more concerned about their perceived economic situation than whatever religion they may claim.
This is not limited to Donald Trump supporters.
Bernie Sanders won the Democratic primary yesterday in Indiana–and he (like Hillary Clinton, only more so) preaches a message of taking from others and giving to supporters.
Donald Trump does that by claiming that the USA will be able to take from foreigners (by getting them to pay for various things) as well as negotiating better trade deals with foreigners. While that is not his entire message, this, along with his anti-immigration positions, has resonated with many voters.
Let’s look at some of what the scriptures teach are to be traits of godly leaders:
19 Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to God. 20 And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do. 21 Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. (Exodus 18:19-21)
2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me,
And His word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel said,
The Rock of Israel spoke to me:
‘He who rules over men must be just,
Ruling in the fear of God. (2 Samuel 23:2-3)
Few politicians endorse His laws and statutes and do not possess covetousness. Hence they are not people that Christians should endorse.
Neither Bernie Sanders nor Hillary Clinton not Donald Trump fear God nor endorse His laws and statutes.
Neither Bernie Sanders nor Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump hate covetousness as covetousness is a major part of their campaigns. All claim that they will take from people to give to other people.
Thus, based on the criteria of Exodus 18:19-21 and 2 Samuel 23:2-3, none of them are ‘qualified’ to hold an office such as that of the President of the United States.
But it is likely that one of them will be.
The ramifications of the 2016 election are not good.
The USA needs the Kingdom of God.
