Deep state and impeachment
The famous Spanish Inquisition was basically conducted behind closed doors and based on a lot of biased and hear-say materials.
In the USA, that type of thing is not supposed to happen. But a report released yesterday shows that there is a “deep state” that ignores the nation’s laws and rules:
Attorney General William Barr ripped the FBI’s “intrusive” investigation after the release of Horowitz’s review, saying it was launched based on the “thinnest of suspicions.”
“The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken,” Barr said in a statement.
Barr expressed frustration that the FBI continued investigating the Trump campaign, even as “exculpatory” information came to the light.
“It is also clear that, from its inception, the evidence produced by the investigation was consistently exculpatory,” Barr said. “Nevertheless, the investigation and surveillance was pushed forward for the duration of the campaign and deep into President Trump’s administration.”
Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller acknowledged in his report that investigators did not find evidence of a conspiracy between Trump’s campaign and the Russians in 2016 – which the FBI probed extensively.
Barr said the FISA report shows a “clear abuse” of the surveillance process.
“In the rush to obtain and maintain FISA surveillance of Trump campaign associates, FBI officials misled the FISA court, omitted critical exculpatory facts from their filings, and suppressed or ignored information negating the reliability of their principal source,” Barr said.
He added, “The Inspector General found the explanations given for these actions unsatisfactory. While most of the misconduct identified by the Inspector General was committed in 2016 and 2017 by a small group of now-former FBI officials, the malfeasance and misfeasance detailed in the Inspector General’s report reflects a clear abuse of the FISA process.” 12/09/19 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/barr-blasts-fbi-over-intrusive-probe-of-trump-campaign-in-wake-of-fisa-report

At least 17 instances where the government failed to handle this, while it hoped to find one or two violations of rules from the Trump campaign in 2016.
In general, the media has tried to push the narrative that this report exonerates the FBI from “conspiracy theories”:

President Donald Trump on Tuesday lashed out at FBI Director Christopher Wray after the man he chose to lead the bureau backed the findings of an inspector general report that found the investigation into Russian election interference was properly launched.
A report released Monday by Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz did not find “evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced the decisions” to open investigations that initially focused on several Trump campaign advisers. New York Times’ Peter Baker writes.
“An impeachment hearing on Capitol Hill presented radically competing versions of reality. An F.B.I. inspector general report punctured longstanding conspiracy theories even as it provided ammunition for others. And a trove of documents exposed years of government deception about the war in Afghanistan.”
Making matters worse, the attorney general of the United States, William Barr, condemned a Justice Department inspector general’s report that concluded the FBI’s probe into the 2016 Trump campaign and Russian interference was indeed justified.
And then U.S. Attorney John Durham, who’s leading the Trump administration’s look at the origins of the Russia investigation, added that he also didn’t agree with the IG report’s findings.
“Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the inspector general that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened,” Durham said.
As NBC’s Ken Dilanian points out, it’s stunning that a U.S. attorney would issue a statement commenting on — and coming to a conclusion about — a pending, ongoing criminal investigation.

The bias and hypocrisy of the media and politicians in the USA is surely sick.

House Democrats are releasing articles of impeachment against the president of the United States.
And on the other hand, they’re about to give the same president a significant political victory – on the NAFTA 2.0 trade deal (when many of them opposed Barack Obama’s TPP deal).
It all underscores Democrats’ muddled impeachment message: How is Trump an existential threat to democracy and the 2020 election when you can cut a deal with him?
You either think someone is an existential threat or not.
That said, it’s clear that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats believe the Trump trade deal is a proxy to show that centrist/pragmatic/at-risk House Democrats can be independent and work with Trump.
It might be smart politics.
But it’s also not helpful to their impeachment argument.

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday morning, charging him with abuse of power in the Ukraine affair and obstruction of Congress. https://www.npr.org/2019/12/10/786569843/house-democrats-expected-to-unveil-articles-of-impeachment-tuesday
For years, Donald Trump was subject to a special counsel investigation for colluding with the Russians, and this was at least partially related Fisa report which the government violated at least 17 of its own rules to see if Donald Trump may have broken any.
Donald Trump was not found to be guilty of collusion with the Russians. And even if he had colluded, collusion is not a crime, unless what they colluded to do was a crime. The basis of the Mueller investigation was wrong from the beginning (even though I tend to believe that Donald Trump did, a little, try to obstruct some initial parts of the investigation).
There is much greater evidence that Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation were guilty of peddling foreign influence and that the Biden family prospered from political influence (there is no way that Hunter Biden was hired and overpaid for his skills and not connection with his father), but thus far that has been dismissed by the media and many politicians.
Furthermore, for the past couple of years, we have seen the media decrying what it calls Russian interference in the USA election process. But the USA has a history of trying to interfere with elections and governments around the world. More hypocrisy.
As far as pushing for Donald Trump’s impeachment, notice something I had published a day or so before he took office:
There are issues with what Donald Trump says when he speaks. I expect people will call for his impeachment. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Nazarene Books, 2017, p. 41)
And today, the Democratically-controlled House of Representatives (along partisan lines) has basically said that because of how it interprets things Donald Trump said, that it wants to vote on impeachment. Now, I did hear a Democratic Congresswoman a week or so ago say that the House should not vote to impeach, but instead vote to censure Donald Trump. That basically means that Congress would go on record against the telephone call.
Donald Trump has said and done many inappropriate things that no morally-thinking person would defend. Nor would I characterize his telephone conversation with the Ukrainian President as “perfect” like Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed. But “a high crime or misdemeanor” standard that the US Constitution calls for does not look to have been met.
A major problem, however, is that many politicians, pundits, and others have less interest in the truth and more interest in pushing political goals than they should.
National repentance is needed.
The Bible shows that the power with the strongest military (which currently is the USA) will be taken over by a European power according to Daniel 11:39 (for more details, see USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
The Book of Isaiah indicates that hypocrisy (and/or acting ungodly) will be part of the reason why.
While political hypocrisy is a problem around the world, in the past several years the blatantness of it is becoming more and more obvious in the USA.
It is so blatant that hopefully more can now see that the prophecy for destruction related to “a hypocritical nation” is a reference to the USA.
While your nation probably will not repent (American or otherwise), you can.
Do not wait until it is too late (cf. Acts 17:30; Zephaniah 2:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:3).
