Donald Trump announces tariffs against Argentina and Brazil: Does he not realize that he is pressuring them to better align with Europe?

US President Donald Trump intensified his trade pressures:

December 2, 2019

President Donald Trump announced Monday that the US will “restore” steel and aluminum tariffs on Brazil and Argentina, citing a “massive devaluation of their currencies.”

“Brazil and Argentina have been presiding over a massive devaluation of their currencies which is not good for our farmers. Therefore, effective immediately, I will restore the Tariffs on all Steel & Aluminum that is shipped into the U.S. from those countries,” Trump tweeted early Monday morning from Washington.

Formal notices of the tariffs were not immediately announced by the Treasury or Commerce Departments or the Office of the US Trade Representative. Both Brazil and Argentina were exempted from 25% steel and 10% aluminum tariffs last year when Trump was attempting to avoid a trade war with those countries.

Trump has prided himself on imposing tariffs and hammering trade deals to bolster his “America First” economic agenda. But the biggest deal at the center of the trade war, a US-China trade agreement, has yet to be signed. Although Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro was seemingly getting along with Donald Trump, this will help drive him and his nation towards Europe.

Earlier this year, the Mercosur block of South American nations agreed to a draft trade deal with Europe that then EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said was “largest trade agreement the EU has ever concluded.” (see EU’s Juncker essentially verified accuracy of 2008 COGwriter prediction on trade).

Ultimately, this will not go as well for the USA as the Trump Administration hopes. I have been warning since before Donald Trump became president that there would be “unintended consequences” of his policies.

Donald Trump is pressuring Brazil, Argentina, and others to better align with Europe.

Long term readers should not find increased trade tensions between Latin America and the US, with increased trade cooperation between Europe and Latin America, as a surprise. Notice a post from 2008:

In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. The Arab nations will most likely agree with many of the standards as they seem to be destined to form a brief end-time alliance with the Europeans (The Arab World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).

However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.

Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.

The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).

The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. The Vatican will also have influence here as Latin America is highly Roman Catholic.

As far as Europe and Mexico go, they also made a trade deal.

European leaders have been working for years to establish a new reserve currency for the world, partially with the intent to remove the USA dollar from its position. Europe is working to push the USA away from dominating global trade–and statements and policies by Donald Trump have been accelerating this change away from the US and towards Europe.

While ‘Babylon’ will not fully reign in 2019, with the USA pulling out of trade deals and/or wishing to change them, steps are occurring that are pushing Europe to dominate trade (watch Trade Wars: Are COG warnings coming to pass?). The Europeans have been working with Latin America, China, Russia’s Eurasian Union, and other areas of the world to try to set up its dominance of world trade as well as standards for world trade.

Europe is rising up as the prophesied Babylon to dominate trade.

This will not end well for the USA (Daniel 11:39).

The Bible warns of the ‘time of Jacob’s trouble’ (Jeremiah 30:7) also known as ‘the great tribulation’ (Matthew 24:21; watch also the new video: Could the Great Tribulation Begin in 2020?).

USA statements and actions are getting more of the world willing to support Europe.

Trade will be a factor in what can be called World War III–and this war will be a conflict with Europe (but the real ‘shooting’ aspect of this will not happen before 2023; for some details, see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?).

We continue to see steps that are leading up to it.

If Donald Trump would pay more attention to biblical prophecies, perhaps he would not be pushing the world away from the US as he has (which, in turn, is pushing more nations towards Europe).
