‘Dow Erases 2014 Gain Amid Global Selloff;’ USA politicians scrapped, then reconsidered, immigration bill

U.S. stocks joined a global selloff, erasing the year’s gains in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, as Exxon Mobil Corp. to Micron Technology Inc. tumbled amid weaker corporate results…

The Dow fell 317.06 points, or 1.9 percent, to 16,563.30 at 4 p.m. in New York, for the largest one-day retreat since Feb. 3. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index slid 2 percent, the most since April 10, to 1,930.67. The gauge dropped 1.5 percent in July, its first monthly decline since January. The Nasdaq 100 Index lost 2.1 percent. The MSCI All-Country World Index tumbled 1.5 percent for its worst loss in almost six months…

Market volatility is rising after the S&P 500 ended its longest stretch of calm since 1995. Including today, the index has posted gains or losses of more than 1 percent three times in the past two weeks, compared with none during the 62 days through July 16, data compiled by Bloomberg show.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index, known as the VIX, surged 27 percent today to 16.95, the highest level since April 11…

Global equities fell today amid weaker-than-projected earning from Europe and Asia. Of course, stock prices rise and fall. Many countries are affected.

As far as the USA itself goes, the efforts of those in the USA to pump counterfeit dollars through a program called “quantitative easing,’ as well as federal deficits, has sometimes propped up the USA stock market, but eventually reality matters.

Actually, truth does matter. Yet, because many do not wish to believe the truth, the economy of the USA looks better that it really is. Yet it is because of mistrust and issues with other governments, that the USA and its dollar will continue to enjoy dominance internationally for longer.

But the time will come when that will end.

The Bible teaches the following:

13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. 16 You shall defile yourself in the sight of the nations; then you shall know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 22:13-16)

The dishonest profits that the USA has generated for years have to do with how it is pumping more and more un-backed currency into the international market and living of of this.

House Republican leaders are trying anew to round up an elusive majority for a bill addressing the border crisis, after a chaotic day where they initially abandoned the legislation and began sending lawmakers home for the summer recess — only to reverse course moments later.

The dramatic scene unfolded at a rapid clip Thursday afternoon. Earlier, House leaders abruptly canceled a planned vote on a package meant to address the surge of illegal immigrant minors crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, with a combination of funding and policy changes, after failing to gather enough votes for it.

Lawmakers began heading out for the five-week summer recess. But incoming House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., then took to the floor to say “additional votes are possible,” indicating lawmakers should stay. Boos could be heard in the House chamber as he made the announcement.

But House Republicans later huddled on Capitol Hill, and plan to meet again on Friday morning. The second thoughts reflected deep concerns in the GOP caucus about the prospect of leaving for the August recess without addressing the border bill and criticism from both sides of the aisle.

Today’s drop in the stock market and today’s immigration arguments are nothing compared to what will be coming to the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39; Lamentations).
