How China’s Xi upstaged Trump as the ‘world leader’

President Donald Trump’s Asia trip was an opportunity for the US to showcase itself as the supreme global power. Instead, President Xi Jinping grabbed the limelight and presented China as the new ‘world leader.’
Xi Jinping’s extravagant reception of Donald Trump in Beijing last week was a perfect opportunity for Xi to display his vision of establishing China as an economic and geopolitical equal to the US on the world stage. …
President Xi currently commands an unrivaled level of political power and he has been dubbed the “world’s most powerful man” by several western media outlets.
And President Trump seems to agree with this assessment. …
“China’s views of American superiority, the universality of Western values and the strength of democracy certainly have changed,” Orville Schell, director of the Center on US-China Relations at the Asia Society in New York City, told DW.
“In the wake of the 19th Party Congress, Xi has now anointed ‘socialism with Chinese characteristics’ as superior to failing Western models of development,” he said, referring to the title of Xi’s political ideology. …

U.S. President Donald Trump has, at the last minute, skipped the plenary session of the 18-nation East Asia Summit with events running behind schedule. …
Trump concluded his five-nation, 12-day trip to Asia with no major policy announcements but declared it “a tremendously successful trip,” noting “I’ve made a lot of friends at the highest level.” …
During the trip, Trump re-emphasized that his administration rejects multi-national trade pacts, such as the Trans Pacific Partnership, in favor of one-to-one economic agreements. …
Susan Rice contends Trump’s trip leaves the United States “more isolated and in retreat, handing leadership of the newly christened ‘Indo-Pacific’ to China on a silver platter.”

The Silk Road, renamed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is developing infrastructure along land and sea trade routes. However, little is known about China’s initiative in the Arctic Circle, which represents a new route that Beijing is now able to develop thanks to technology together with the strategic partnership with Russia.
Involving about 65 countries and affecting 4.4 billion people, constituting thirty percent of the world’s GDP, together with a total investment from Beijing that could surpass a trillion dollars, this is an immense project that requires a lot of imagination to grasp the intentions of the Chinese leadership. With a host of projects already in progress, and some almost completed (the Sino-Pakistan Corridor known as CPEC is archetypical), the overland and maritime routes are developing side by side. Plenty of ink has been used detailing Beijing’s intentions regarding the East-West connections of the super Eurasian continent. …
The other reason (that are less well known) pushing the People’s Republic of China to invest in such extensive maritime routes concerns the naval doctrine adopted by the Chinese navy. The United States maintains a remarkable ability to project power across all five continents thanks to the size of its navy, which has grown quite steadily over the last century. China has a popular leader. China hopes to increase its economic and military clout around the world while continuing to promote its version of state controlled socialism. ‘Money talks,’ to use an American expression–and the Silk Road project involves a lot of money.
While many support Xi Jinping, not all in China do (see Top Chinese officials ‘plotted to overthrow Xi Jinping’). There are various issues in China.
As far as the USA goes, it is on a downward trajectory.
When I saw the German press headline at the beginning of this post today, the following scripture came to mind:
19 I will break the pride of your power; (Leviticus 26:19)
The USA is losing more of its influence.
But, it still has influence and will NOT be taken over during the first term of Donald Trump’s presidency (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin? 2017, 2018, or 2019?).
Although the Bible says the force that does takeover the USA will actually be European (Revelation 13, 17; Daniel 9:26-27, 11:21-44; see also Europa, the Beast, and Revelation), China is most certainly gaining influence in various places.
Yes, China will have problems. It has been spending massively on infrastructure projects– a well known ‘Silk Road’ project looks to be paving some of the roads to Armageddon (watch Is China paving roads to Armageddon?), China will also end up providing a lot of manpower for the coming 200 million man army of Revelation 9:13-17. But the USA is also having problems. Problems that will lead to its end (cf. Daniel 11:39; Habakkuk 2:6-8).
Unintentionally increasing China’s influence in Asia and elsewhere, which is something that Donald Trump has assisted with, will not turn out well for the USA.

Is China paving roads to Armageddon? China is working on something known as the ‘Silk Road’ project or the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. NBC reports that China intends to spend one trillion dollars to build roads, bridges, railroads, and maritime facilities to reach from China to Europe and China to the Middle East. Over 60 nations, including Russia, are involved with this. Could this Silk Road project possibly produce thoroughfares that could be used by troops that will amass at Armageddon?
