European Commission: Widespread financial corruption in EU is ‘breathtaking.’ What might this lead to?
A new report from the European Commission has exposed a massive degree of financial corruption in the European Union. Here is how the 230 page report titled Corruption begins with the following introduction:
Corruption, whether it takes the form of political corruption, corrupt activities committed by and with organised criminal groups, private-to-private corruption or so-called petty corruption, continues to be one of the biggest challenges facing Europe. While the nature and scope of corruption varies from one EU Member State to another, it harms the EU as a whole by reducing levels of investment, obstructing the fair operation of the Internal Market and having a negative impact on public finances. The economic costs incurred by corruption in the EU are estimated to amount to around EUR 120 billion annually.
Corruption can also undermine trust in democratic institutions and weaken the accountability of political leadership. Moreover, it enables organised crime groups to use corruption to commit other serious crimes, such as trafficking in drugs and human beings.

EU Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstroem has presented a full report on the problem.
She said the true cost of corruption was “probably much higher” than 120bn.
Three-quarters of Europeans surveyed for the Commission study said that corruption was widespread, and more than half said the level had increased.
“The extent of the problem in Europe is breathtaking, although Sweden is among the countries with the least problems,” Ms Malmstroem wrote in Sweden’s Goeteborgs-Posten daily.
The cost to the EU economy is equivalent to the bloc’s annual budget.

Reports of EU corruption could play a role in potential elections for the UK to pull out of and/or change its status with the European Union. What may emerge from this is the implementation of more surveillance by the EU of government officials and others. The Bible teaches of a time when the European Beast power will have major surveillance abilities (Revelation 13:15-18)–and, unintentionally, this is something the US President Barack Obama promised to help the Europeans with after the Snowden leaks embarrassed the USA because of its extensive espionage on the EU in general and Germany in particular (view also Will USA Spying Help the Beast Power?). Allegations of financial corruption will probably be one of the reasons given for justification for the end time Beast to control buying and selling in the time of the end (cf. Revelation 13:16-17).
While governmental corruption may be more obvious in certain countries, the reality is that countries such as the USA have “legal” bribery in the form of financial contributions to political parties. The EU has other forms of corruption, as well, that the report from its Commission did not seem to try to address
The Bible teaches against corruption and specifically teaches that bribes are not to be taken:
8 And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous. (Exodus 23:8)
19 You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. (Deuteronomy 16:19)
23 A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back To pervert the ways of justice. (Proverbs 17:23)
23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man! (Isaiah 5:23)
Notice that perversion is tied into accepting bribes. In terms of spiritual corruption, Europe’s five-euro notes show a small version of the ancient Greek goddess Europa (and she is to be added to its other bank notes). Europe gets its name from Europa, who was considered to have been a nymph. An image of Europa is also shown on the Greek two Euro coin:

The coin shows Europa riding the Beast (some versions say Zeus raped her, others that he seduced her).
Europe’s symbols have also tended to confirm its prophetic role in this regard. Although the Europa story comes from Greek mythology, the Bible mentions the following related to Europe:
3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits…18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:3-9,18)
Most theological scholars, including Catholic ones, believe that the city of seven mountains (hills in some translations) represent Rome.
The fact that, not only on the Greek coin and Euro banknotes, but also in front of the EU Council of Ministers Office in Brussels, Belgium, there is a large statue of an immodest female Europa on a beast shows that the European Union is apparently not ashamed of its suggested ties to these scriptures, though it obviously is preferring to promote its mythological connection. Years ago, a Larry Blake sent me several pictures of the woman (Europa) riding the bull (a beast) as symbols of European Union which are linked for additional proof of these ties. And now, with intentionally utilizing an image of Europa on its currency, Europe wants to continue its connection to mythology.
Now as far as the European corruption report goes, at some point, this may lead to protests and other problems in Europe. I still expect civil unrest in Europe, including possibly large scale civil war, before the final Beast of Revelation 13 rises up (Revelation 13:1-4).
Despite its current problems, which are consistent with biblical prophecy (Daniel 2:41-43), the Bible shows that Europe will rise up, make a deal with the harlot woman of Revelation 17:1-10, reorganize (Revelation 17:11-13), and become the end time Beast power of Revelation 13.
The ties to Greco-Roman mythology, the Bible, and modern Europe are obvious to those who will look. Sadly, not enough people in Europe (or elsewhere) have made the connection of this to end time prophecy. What will ultimately rise up in Europe is not what rationale people should ever want and some of Europe’s symbolism should help alert people to this. But most will dismiss it (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).
