European elections 2019: Power blocs lose grip on parliament
The big centre-right and centre-left blocs in the European Parliament have lost their combined majority amid an increase in support for liberals, the Greens and nationalists.
Pro-EU parties are still expected to be in a majority but the traditional blocs will need to seek new alliances.
The liberals and Greens had a good night, while nationalists were victorious in Italy, France and the UK.
Turnout was the highest for 20 years, bucking decades of decline.

French President Emmanuel Macron launched a flurry of meetings, ahead of a summit Tuesday where the 28-nation bloc’s presidents and prime ministers will take stock of the results from elections that attracted the highest voter turnout in 20 years.
Macron’s Republic on the Move party looks to have secured 23 seats in the assembly for the next five years — the same number as the far-right National Rally, whose leader Marine Le Pen was trounced by Macron in national elections two years ago. He was due to hold talks with the leaders of Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia ahead of the dinner summit in Brussels.
France wasn’t the only country where voters took their concerns about immigration and security to the ballot box. Italy’s populist League party, under hard-line Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, is set to become one of the biggest in the 28-nation bloc’s assembly. Belgium’s Vlaams Belang also made significant gains.
“The rules are changing in Europe,” Salvini said at his League party headquarters in Milan early Monday. “A new Europe is born.”
Provisional results show the League would win 34% of the vote, up from just 6% at the last European election in 2014.

The parliamentary election results will make the EU more difficult to govern. One day, a more dictatorial form of governance will appear preferential (cf. Revelation 17:12-13).

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Pro-European parties kept a firm grip on the EU parliament on Monday as liberal and green parties matched a surge by eurosceptic parties, who won control of a quarter of seats in European elections for the first time.
The far-right and nationalists in Italy, Britain, France and Poland came out on top in their national votes on Sunday, shaking up politics at home but failing to dramatically alter the balance of pro-European power in EU assembly.

The pro-EU forces will not truly forgive the USA for its President Trump and the losses they have just encountered.
Anyway, the election points to more division in Europe, though the pro-unity forces look to still have the most control. Lack of true unity in Europe was prophesied:
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)
This disunity is one of many reasons that we will one day see more civil unrest in Europe.
We have seen Pope Francis and many pro-EU politicians promoting less national sovereignty, while other leaders in Europe have raised objections to that (see Campaigners have issues with EU and want reorganization).
Some Euro-skeptics believe (correctly) that Europe will become totalitarian. The pro-EU (anti-nationalist) ones tend to believe that Europe must come together as that is the only way to have a voice, preserve common interests, and have a real defense independent of the USA.
Last week, the European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker wants the EU more united and called the ‘nationalists’ “stupid” (see Juncker lashes out at ‘stupid nationalists’ on eve of European elections). Those who understand Bible prophecy realize that, in a sense, the nationalists are NOT stupid. The Bible shows that a more united Europe will end up supporting a totalitarian dictator, like many of the ‘nationalists’ fear (see also Campaigners have issues with EU and want reorganization). Various ‘nationalists’ have warned that Europe was moving towards becoming totalitarian (see Campaigners have issues with EU and want reorganization).
Will Europe be a democracy or become a totalitarian state like some fear?

It will NOT be specifically this parliament election, but the stage is getting more and more set for the coming reorganization.

EU leaders pushing towards the Apocalypse
In May 2019, a debate among pro-European Union leaders revealed that change to reduce the European Council and hence reduce the influence of individual nation states was promoted as a way to save the EU from dying. A week or so before, Euro skeptics met at a conference where the leaders there pushed for more national autonomy from the EU as a way to save Europe. On May 3, 2019, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz pushed for replacing or at least changing the Lisbon Treaty. In the Spring of 2019, Pope Francis said the nation state cannot solve what is needed, whereas the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences pushed for the EU to become a supranational state. Are these leaders pushing Europe towards the Apocalypse? What does the Bible teach? How does what the Euro-philes and Euro-skeptics want tie in with Revelation 17:12-13? Pro-European leaders have essentially called for Europe to be an “empire.”

EUROPHILE Guy Verhofstadt hinted he would fight to create a European “Empire” if he was elected as the new European Commission President, to counteract China, Russia and US “domination” in the future.
Speaking at a Politico’s debate in Maastricht, the Belgian MEP claimed the future will see the world dominated by “empires” and pledged to create a “stronger European Union” to counteract them. The European Commission President candidate for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) claimed China, India, the US and Russia will dominate the world in the form of “empires” and urged people to support his plan for a “united Europe”.
He said: “I think the youth have to understand – and they understand it – that the world of tomorrow is a completely different world to the world of today.
“It will be a world of empires. The world of China dominating, India dominating, the US and the Russian Federation. …
“So we need to create a strong Europe, a united Europe as a counterweight for that.
“And for that, we also need a new force in the European Union and in this European Union debate.

Next month, the new EU Parliament members are expected to decide who will be the next EU Commission President to replace Jean Claude Juncker.

In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a “paranoid fantasy” or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by “friends” such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? Europe will control an empire.
This will NOT turn out well for the USA (Daniel 11:39), its British-descended allies (Daniel 8:24-25), nations in the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43), nor Europe itself (Daniel 11:44-45).
