EU OFFICIALS tried to keep plans for a European army secret until after the 2016 Brexit referendum, it has been claimed.

Boris Johson‘s Brexit deal has helped pave the way for a European army but “lots remains to be done”, according to a close ally of French President Emmanuel Macron. French MEP Nathalie Loiseau has told the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) the UK’s exit from the European Union has cleared the way for “progress” towards greater EU military integration. …
Ms Loiseau said: “Brexit in foreign policy, firstly we have to admit in regards to the participation of the UK in CSDP the loss is small. The CSDP was never really something the UK really owned or really valued that much.
“There were few staff or military from the UK in the CSDP missions, they were reluctant towards efforts like European Defence Fund or PESCO.
“I am pretty certain that we have made progress on European defence because the UK was leaving the European Union but there is a lot that remains to be done.”
Brussels’ path towards a single military force is definitely smoother now that Britain has said goodbye to the bloc.
London has always been opposed to the idea and even vetoed several proposals while still a member.
For this reason, in 2016, Brussels tried to keep detailed plans that could have paved the way for an EU army – the establishment of EU military headquarters and other operational structures – secret until after the referendum. …
However, according to former International Trade Secretary Liam Fox, the leaks made clear the EU was wedded to the “dangerous fantasy” of creating a single defence force. … The best way to protect ourselves is to stay close to the US. … Europe’s defence intentions are a dangerous fantasy and risk cutting us off from our closest and most powerful ally. …”
Extracts from the proposals seen by the Times revealed diplomats insisted “security and defence was where a step change was most urgent” in the EU.

Yes, the European Union has long wanted to have a European Army. And yes, Germany has been, and still is, a main supporter of this. And no, the UK will not be best protected by the USA–the UK needs to repent as the USA will one day be destroyed per Daniel 11:39, etc.
And no, they did not want this known before the Brexit vote as they were concerned that if those in the UK understood the direction that the EU wanted to go, the majority of UK voters would vote to leave the EU. But, despite the lack of candor, that happened anyway.
Brexiters who warned of the EU military plans were treated as liars, but the reality is that they were correct.
But it is a fantasy to think that the USA will truly be able to defend the UK when the European Beast power fully rises up.

Berlin insists on independent status as world power, despite renewed cooperation with the USA.
BERLIN/WASHINGTON(Own report) – On the occasion of US President Joe Biden’s inauguration yesterday, the German government is holding out the prospect of closer transatlantic cooperation, while insisting on an independent position, concerning key controversial issues. “We will not always agree with the new administration” despite all the cooperation, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced, after all “Europe” has its own interests. With the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) that the EU reached with China, just prior to the change in personnel at the White House, the EU clearly rejects the “decoupling,” advocated by the US government, including the Biden administration. Moreover, yesterday, a leading CDU foreign policy expert published a plea for renewed cooperation with Russia, which is clearly rejected by Washington. In their quest for an independent EU world power status, Berlin and Brussels can rely on majority support within the population. According to a recent survey, 67 percent of the residents of ten EU countries and Great Britain favor greater military independence; two thirds reject siding with the USA in the power struggle with China.
USA “Broken”
The survey commissioned by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and conducted after the US elections by Datapraxis and YouGov has arrived at findings that, to a large extent, could be interpreted as being favorable to Berlin’s foreign policy and its quest for the EU’s greater independence. In May 2017, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had summed up the demand for greater independence with the slogan “we Europeans have to take our fate into our own hands.”[1] In the survey, 67 percent agreed that “Europe can’t always rely on the US: we need to look after our own defense capabilities,” only ten percent thought the contrary.[2] At the same time 61 percent believe that the political system of the United States is broken, whereas, only 27 percent think that it still functions well. … there is little willingness to clearly take Washington’s side “if there was a disagreement” between the USA and Russia or, respectively, China. Overall, 57 percent of the respondents think that China will “probably” or even “definitely” become more powerful than the US within the next ten years, only 19 percent were convinced of the contrary. Nevertheless, in a conflict between the US and China only 22 percent (16 percent in Germany) would like their country to side with the US, while 60 percent (66 percent in Germany) are pleading for neutrality. https://www.german-foreign-policy.com/en/news/detail/8497/
Have no doubts–Europe is developing its own military. The Bible says it will have a “great army” (Daniel 11:25) and will become the aggressor against the USA in the future per Daniel 11:39.
Europe already has PESCO, its Permanent Structured Cooperation–which it formed within a year of Donald Trump becoming President of the United States–his position was used as a reason, in my view, to accelerate the move towards a stronger EU military.
The Europeans are concluding that they want greater military capability as they have concerns about the USA.

PESCO and a Great European Army
In November 2018, French President Macron called for a “true European army” because of China, Russia, and the USA. Some others in Europe have echoed that sentiment. On November 9, 2018, US President Donald Trump called that an insult, but the next day said that the USA wanted “a very strong Europe.” Emmanuel Macron referred to Donald Trump as “my friend” and indicated a desire to strengthen Europe’s military spending. In December 2017, 25 European nations agreed to be part of a military alliance called PESCO. Europe also has NATO and IEI. Will Europe end up with “a great army”? Has Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty gotten some to say that Europe must rebel against the USA? Is the idea of a United States of Europe and a European army a “paranoid fantasy” or a biblical reality? Will the USA regret Europe becoming a stronger military power? Will the USA be betrayed by “friends” such as its continental European allies? Does the Bible teach any or all of this? The Bible shows that a leader will arise in Europe who, though talking peace, eventually will destroy places like the USA, UK, and Canada:
24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.25 “Through his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule;
And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity. (Daniel 8:24-25)39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
So this leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term is translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties.
He will eliminate the USA and its British-descended allies. But he will also want to control all that he can.
Notice more about the Beast:
1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:1-4)
He will be a successful military leader and the world will marvel because of his defeat of the USA and other nations (cf. Daniel 11:39-43).
And he will arise talking peace.
Europe has long been preparing moves to rise up.
The days of the USA are numbered (watch Is the USA Prophesied to be Destroyed by 2028).
When will this fully be in place?
After the Gospel of the Kingdom of God has been sufficiently preached to the world as a witness by the Philadelphian Christians, then end comes (Matthew 24:14) and the Beast will rise up (Matthew 24:15-22, Revelation 13).
We are getting closer to that day.
Jesus warned many would be distracted in the end times (cf. Matthew 24:36-44). Jesus also warned:
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)
Understand that in the end time, most Christians are NOT Philadelphian , will not been involved in the work Jesus wants them to be (cf. Revelation 3:7-22) and will NOT be counted worthy to escape what will come to pass.
