Fate of US Dollar and EU Euro

The fate of the US dollar is not to remain the world’s reserve currency. Germany’s Chancellor made the news for some of her comments:

The dollar’s dominance may give way to a “multipolar” currency system as power shifts in the world economy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

“We all know that the international currency system is a system in transition, that it will probably move in the future from a currency system that’s very strongly concentrated in one currency, that is the dollar, to a multipolar currency system,” Merkel said in Berlin...http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-10-06/dominant-dollar-may-give-way-to-multipolar-system-merkel-says.html

In today’s TW News & Prophecy, LCG reported:

Last Friday the German parliament symbolically voted to continue supporting European debt relief. Internally, the parliament was split, with representatives refusing to further support EU debt by giving up German sovereignty through a fiscal union. A Bavarian representative warned that “…the Free State of Bavaria will not take one step further towards an EMU fiscal union or debt pool.” According to a seasoned journalist, “Germans have begun to sense that the preservation of their own democracy and rule of law is in conflict with demands from Europe. They must choose one or the other” (The Telegraph, September 30, 2011).Meanwhile, with Greece’s looming default and an increasing number of EU nations calling for its exit from the EU, economists are pondering the ramifications of such an event. “The prospect of a Greek default is viewed as increasing the chances of others, which in turn is seen to threaten banks holding billions of dollars of government bonds. The bill for rebuilding the banks lies with already indebted governments. If confidence continues to wane, a run on a country and its banks could drive a country from the euro zone” (Wall Street Journal, September 30, 2011).

What might happen if multiple nations default and possibly leave the euro zone? With strong German feelings against relinquishing national or fiscal sovereignty, and the possibility of other nations “leaving” the euro, the concept of a “European core” of nations subject to German fiscal and political rules is becoming more likely.

Scripture highlights that ten kings will “give” their power over to a centralized European Beast power, backed by a mother church (see Revelation 17). We appear to be watching events that God is guiding in Europe to bring His prophecies to pass!

In an interview on the BBC, IMF advisor Robert Shapiro said some incredibly alarmist things. He tells broadcasters that if eurozone leaders don’t address the crisis properly we will see a meltdown as soon as later this month.

In his words:

“If they can not address [the financial crisis] in a credible way I believe within perhaps 2 to 3 weeks we will have a meltdown in sovereign debt which will produce a meltdown across the European banking system…”

Yes, rumors have been rife for weeks that the Germans are intending to walk away, having already ordered printing plates to resume the printing… of their Marks.

This was confirmed this week by former White House economic advisor and Deutsche Bank board member Philippa Malmgren.

“The German announce they are re-introducing the Deutschmark. They have already ordered the new currency and are asking the printers to hurry up”, said Malmgren…“The whole Euro project was a ‘trick-bag’ to reunify German under the umbrella of the Euro, and things went bad, as they inevidibly would do, they could eject themselves from the Euro, and there it is- The Deutsche Mark ”, explained Max Keiser. http://www.infowars.com/the-deutsche-mark-is-coming-and-germany-will-still-lead-the-european-super-state/

I wish to emphasize that I consider that the above report about the Deutsche Mark highly speculative and am not yet convinced that it has highly serious credibility.

As I have written before, the Bible is clear that Europe will appear disconnected and never will be thoroughly unified (Daniel 2:41-43). Europe may have additional civil unrest and possibly civil war (see pages 79-81 of my 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect book) if the Euro crisis expands, which would likely be stopped by the final Beast (cf. Revelation 13:4), who is the final King of the North (Daniel 11:36-45).

As far as the the US dollar and Euro go, here is some of what I wrote in 2009 in my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect:

Habakkuk 2:3,6–8…This prophecy, if it is applicable to the U.S.A, also suggests that American dollars will ultimately be of no value to creditors by then (or to probably anyone else)…

It would seem that once the U.S. dollar totally collapses people all around the world will consider that even if the Euro is strong, having a more gold-backed currency would be safer. Having the European power acquiring a lot more gold to back the Euro (even if the backing is only implied) or possibly other future European currency (that might potentially replace the Euro) may greatly increase European credibility, prosperity, and influence around the globe.

Eventually, despite Europe’s problems (cf. Daniel 2:42-43), Bible prophecy shows that Europe will be THE major economic superpower for a short time. And as I have written many times at COGwriter, I expect the euro to drop in value from time to time, and even to plummet should major civil unrest occur, until the euro (or whatever replacement currency Europe would have should the euro be dropped, including a possible world currency) becomes the actual world reserve currency essentially replacing the US dollar.

I have long felt that there is a possibility that the Euro may be replaced and I am still convinced that the US dollar will NOT remain the world’s primary reserve currency. Yet, ultimately Europe will reorganize and become a powerful military force (Revelation 17:12-13; 13:1-4; Daniel 11:39-43).

We in LCG do believe that despite problems with the Euro, Europe will have to reorganize, and ultimately fulfill the prophecies in the Bible about being the final Beast power of Revelation, the final King of the North of Daniel 11.
