German economy growing; leaders looking to increase military might

The German economy continues to grow:

The latest data suggests that the German economy has witnessed growth as the manufacturing sector registered strong numbers and services expansion also increased. …
The German Economy improved by 0.7% at the end of 2014, leading to improvement in the euro area. The country will continue to be the inspiration of the recovery, with GDP prediction by the European Commission to rise 1.5% this year, since politicians negotiate with Greece over its bailout as well as attempt to avoid tensions with one of the earliest members of the Eurozone.
“The German economy looks set to continue surfing on a wave of economic wellbeing heading further into 2015. While low oil prices, a weaker euro and ECB quantitative easing should help boost economic growth, some uncertainties remain, including the debt crisis in Greece”, said Oliver Kolodseike, an economist at Markit. http://uncovercalifornia.com/content/23389-german-economy-grows-manufacturing-sector-picks-pace
Germany has the largest economy in Europe. Furthermore it has the fourth-largest by nominal GDP in the world, and fifth by GDP (PPP). Even Wikipedia acknowledges, “Since the age of industrialisation and beyond, the country has been a driver, innovator, and beneficiary of an ever more globalised economy.”
Now, while I do expect the German economy to have problems, and that Germany itself will likely have to deal with civil unrest in the future, Germany does dominate the European Union economically. One cliche says, “Whoever has the gold rules.”
This also tends to have military ramifications. Wealthier nations can afford to spend more on weaponry and troops.
A couple of days ago, a reader sent me a link to the following:
(Reuters) – Germany will overhaul its security strategy in coming years in response to Russian attempts to use “power politics and military force” to assert its interests, Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday.
Germany, which 70 years after World War Two is seeking to assume a more assertive global role, has been at the center of efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Ukraine and led a push within Europe to impose sanctions against Moscow.
“Russia’s actions in Ukraine fundamentally change the security architecture in Europe,” said von der Leyen as she opened a debate on a new security strategy to be outlined in a “white book” to be published next year.
It will detail the main principles underlying German policy for the years ahead.
Germany’s new policy must take account of the Kremlin’s attempt “to establish geo-strategic power politics and military force as a form of asserting their interests”, said von der Leyen.
“The Kremlin’s new policy began long before the crisis in Ukraine and will occupy us for a very very long time to come,” she added.

Two things that were left out of the above article are that the Germans are disappointed with the USA because of certain international matters as well as USA espionage on it, plus the fact that the Germans do not want to have to rely on the USA.
While most do not believe that Germany is currently militaristic, the reality is that the Germans do want dominance and the Bible shows that they will be used to takeover powers including the USA:
5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
6 I will send him against an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Yet he does not mean so,
Nor does his heart think so;
But it is in his heart to destroy,
And cut off not a few nations.
8 For he says,
‘Are not my princes altogether kings?
9 Is not Calno like Carchemish?
Is not Hamath like Arpad?
Is not Samaria like Damascus?
10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols,
Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols,
Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?'” (Isaiah 10:5-11)
The reference to ‘Samaria’ above is a reference to the tribe of Manasseh who intermingled with various peoples (cf. 2 Kings 17:24)–it is currently a reference to the USA (for more details, see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).
Now the Bible is clear that Germany will be punished for what it will do:
12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say,
“I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.”
13 For he says:
“By the strength of my hand I have done it,And by my wisdom, for I am prudent; Also I have removed the boundaries of the people, And have robbed their treasuries; So I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man. 14 My hand has found like a nest the riches of the people, And as one gathers eggs that are left, I have gathered all the earth; And there was no one who moved his wing, Nor opened his mouth with even a peep.”
15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it?Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it?As if a rod could wield itself against those who lift it up, Or as if a staff could lift up, as if it were not wood! 16 Therefore the Lord, the Lord of hosts,Will send leanness among his fat ones;And under his glory He will kindle a burning Like the burning of a fire. 17 So the Light of Israel will be for a fire,And his Holy One for a flame;It will burn and devour His thorns and his briers in one day. 18 And it will consume the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field,Both soul and body;And they will be as when a sick man wastes away. 19 Then the rest of the trees of his forest Will be so few in number That a child may write them. (Isaiah 10:12-19)
But, again, before it is punished, it will destroy “not a few nations.”
Having a strong economy, combined with a desire to build up its military, as well as it wanting to be dominant, is consistent with end time biblical prophecy for the descendants of Assyria (see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).
