German Strategies For or Against BRICS?

Berlin is debating reactions to the BRICS group’s increase in influence following its successful summit in Johannesburg last week. The West’s attempt – Germany’s included – to drive a wedge into the group has failed: Despite disputes over Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation, the summit made two major advances. BRICS will admit six nations as members by January 1, 2024, including the four most powerful in the Middle East, where the West’s influence will be noticeably reduced. The bloc’s share of the global GDP will rise from around 25 to approximately 37 percent. In addition, BRICS countries will shift their trade transactions from the US dollar to national currencies, to an even greater extent than before, most likely including Saudi, Emirati and Iranian oil trade. This will gradually reduce the US currency’s global importance. German government advisors are promoting a shift from a strategy of division to one of inclusion vis-Ă -vis BRICS to prevent a further loss of the West’s influence. …

Loss of Middle East Dominance

The fact that four Middle Eastern countries (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Iran) are set to join BRICS has wide-ranging consequences. Until recently the West’s, particularly the USA’s, hegemony over the region was undisputed – with the exception of Iran, which was kept largely isolated and in a weak position through sanctions. The simultaneous integration of Iran and its nemesis Saudi Arabia into the BRICS group …

Away from the Dollar

At the same time, BRICS is intensifying its efforts to reduce the significance of the US dollar. To this end, the member states have decided at their summit in Johannesburg, that cross-border trade should be transacted more in national currencies. Already back in the spring, it was reported that only 84.3 percent of the trade being transacted between BRICS members is in US dollars, and the remainder in other currencies. Russia and China are already regularly doing their transactions in rubel or yuan. Brazil and China have agreed to transact in reais or in yuan. … the transition to national currencies still has great advantages. It serves the purpose, explains the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), of “restricting the ability of the USA” to impose its global interests “by using financial sanctions.”[6] Pretoria’s Institute for Security Studies (ISS) predicts major consequences, should oil prices no longer be set in US dollars. This was probably the main consideration for including Saudi Arabia and the UAE as new BRICS members.[ …

From a Strategy of Division to One of Inclusion

With its expansion and its increasing shift away from the US dollar, BRICS is developing into an effective counterweight to the West, whose dominance is thus dwindling. According to Berlin, continuing the attempt to divide BRICS will hardly be successful. Already before the BRICS summit, SWP was recommending that it would be better to adopt a sort of strategy of inclusion. This could possibly consist of opening major events, such as the Munich security Conference, more to issues pertaining to the Global South.[11] This could help prevent the perception of the evolving world order as “having been imposed by the West.” The first declaration made by Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock after the BRICS summit in Johannesburg contained elements of this strategy of inclusion. Baerbock announced that cooperation would continue, not only with the BRICS countries – with the exception of Russia and to a limited extent with China – but also with the new members. “We want to cooperate with the countries around the world, of course also with those who have views that differ from ours.” https://www.german-foreign-policy.com/en/news/detail/9329

Certain Arab nations and Iran are about to become part of BRICS. Yes, the USA is losing influence. But the Europeans want more influence.

Germany’s strategy is clearly to extend invitations, play it cool and emphasize that in Berlin the door is always open to all new BRICS members. Baerbock pointed out that Germany already has channels of communication with them all, except Iran.

The German foreign minister spoke strongly in favor of cooperating with the new members of this group of important emerging economies. She did not share the view being aired in the German media that meetings of the BRICS countries were a problem, she said, pointing out that Europeans, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, or OSCE, and the G20 also had the freedom to choose their meeting partners for themselves.

European Union facing a challenge

However, one member of Baerbock’s party is not mincing his words concerning the outcome of the summit in South Africa. “The BRICS summit has established historic facts. This will significantly increase the international importance of BRICS, even if there are appreciable differences between its members,” said Reinhard BĂĽtikofer, the foreign policy coordinator of the Greens in the European Parliament. “The character of BRICS will change with this round of enlargement. China’s dominance will increase and BRICS will become a clearly authoritarian group,” he said. …

The EU politician warns that the EU now faces a tremendous challenge. “We don’t have many years to prove that Europe wants to be a credible, reliable and fair partner for poor and developing countries,” he said. 08/27/23 https://www.dw.com/en/brics-expansion-united-states-germany-reactions/a-66636169

Notice that a German politician is stating that the Europeans “don’t have many years to prove that Europe” is to be considered “credible” for much of the world. The Europeans in general, and Germans in particular, want to be the major and dominating force on the international scene.

The BRICS expansion looks to be one more motivator for the Europeans to do that.

If you look at the tweet at the beginning of this post, you will see that the tweeter believes that the normal approach that the EU had been taking failed.

Whether or not Germany joins BRICS, according to the Bible, Europe will reorganize. And despite various concerns, Europe will also become led by an authoritarian leader that the Bible calls “the beast”:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

Anyway, despite concerns about Russia and Ukraine, I contend that Europe will make a deal with the Russians that will not end well for the USA or its British-descended allies, consistent with the actions of the King of the North in Daniel 11:39.

Furthermore, German-dominated Europe will make various economic deals with BRICS nations.

Notice the following military deal involving the Middle East:

3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

5 For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot. (Psalm 83:3-8)

Notice that Psalm 83 shows that a deal will be made involving mainly the Arabs and Turkey, and then Germany will be part of it. I believe that this deal will essentially result in terrorism hitting the USA and UK by certain Arabs/Turks, which help help weaken the USA/UK prior to invasion by the end time Germanic power–prophetically called Assyria in Psalm 83–as well as in the 10th chapter of Isaiah. There is a deceitful deal in Daniel 11:27 that the final King of the North (German led European power) and the King of the South (a North African and Middle Eastern confederation).

Even the Greco-Roman Catholic saint Jerome identifies Assur/Assyria as part of Psalm 83 as he quotes part of verse 8–plus he ties this in with those people people in central Europe:

He that lets is taken out of the way, and yet we do not realize that Antichrist is near. Yes, Antichrist is near…The whole country between the Alps and the Pyrenees, between the Rhine and the Ocean, has been laid waste by hordes of Quadi, Vandals, Sarmatians, Alans, Gepids, Herules, Saxons, Burgundians, Allemanni and— alas! For the commonweal!— even Pannonians. For Assur also is joined with them. The once noble city of Moguntiacum has been captured and destroyed. In its church many thousands have been massacred. The people of Vangium after standing a long siege have been extirpated. The powerful city of Rheims, the Ambiani, the Altrebatæ, the Belgians on the skirts of the world, Tournay, Spires, and Strasburg have fallen to Germany: while the provinces of Aquitaine and of the Nine Nations, of Lyons and of Narbonne are with the exception of a few cities one universal scene of desolation. But ultimately, that will not turn out well for the coming German-dominated Beast power.

In addition to Psalm 83 and Isaiah 10, there are other passages in the Bible that seem to tie the descendants of Asshur in with the King of the North.

In the future at “the appointed time,” something will trigger the King of the North (the “he” below) going towards the south:

29 At the appointed time he shall return and go toward the south; but it shall not be like the former or the latter. 30 For ships from Cyprus shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and return in rage against the holy covenant, and do damage. So he shall return and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant (Daniel 11:29-30).

Note: the Hebrew term translated as “Cyprus” in the NKJV is a mistranslation. The KJV uses the term Chittim which means “Western lands.” Hence the King of the North will apparently be temporarily stopped by a Western naval power.

Since Daniel 11 discusses much about the future King of the North, it may be of interest to notice that there is an end time prophecy in Numbers that seems to discuss the same event. Here are several translations of the seemingly related event:

14 … Come, I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the latter days. (Numbers 24:14, NKJV)

24 But ships shall come from the coasts of Cyprus, And they shall afflict Asshur and afflict Eber, And so shall Amalek, until he perishes. (Numbers 24:24, NKJV)

24 But ships will come from the direction of Kittim, troubling Asshur and troubling Eber, and like the others their fate will be destruction. (Numbers 24:24. Bible in Basic English, BBE)

24 And — ships [are] from the side of Chittim, And they have humbled Asshur, And they have humbled Eber, And it also for ever is perishing.’ (Numbers 24:24, Young’s Literal Translation)

24 Sea-Peoples, raiders from across the sea, will harass Asshur and Eber, But they’ll also come to nothing, just like all the rest. (Numbers 24:24, The Message).

24 And ships shall come from the coast of Kittim (Cyprus), and shall afflict Asshur (Assyria), and shall afflict ‘Ever (i.e., Region beyond the River [Euphrates]), and he also shall be unto destruction. (Numbers 24:24, Orthodox Jewish Bible, OJB)

So a naval power comes and troubles the Assyrians and some other peoples and that naval power will end up coming to nothing according to the Book of Numbers.

The reason for mentioning that is to show more about the scriptural support of prophetic Assyria and the coming Germanic King of the North ‘Babylonian’ Beast power.

With that in mind, consider the following

50:41 “Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance;
They are cruel and shall not show mercy.
Their voice shall roar like the sea;
They shall ride on horses,
Set in array, like a man for the battle,
Against you, O daughter of Babylon.

43 “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,
And his hands grow feeble;
Anguish has taken hold of him,
Pangs as of a woman in childbirth…”(Jeremiah 50:41-43).

11 Make the arrows bright!
Gather the shields!
The Lord has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes.
For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it,
Because it is the vengeance of the Lord,
The vengeance for His temple. (Jeremiah 51:11)

1 The burden against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

2 “Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger–Those who rejoice in My exaltation.” 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. 5 They come from a far country, From the end of heaven–The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land. 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt, 8 And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames (Isaiah 13:1-8).

17 “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, Who will not regard silver; And as for gold, they will not delight in it. 18 Also their bows will dash the young men to pieces, And they will have no pity on the fruit of the womb; Their eye will not spare children. 19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, The beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. (Isaiah 13:17-19)

Thus, this Germanically-dominated empire (the “daughter of Babylon”) is to be destroyed by a northern (apparently Russian-led) force. Russia is the “king of the Medes” from the North.

Notice that scripture below show that both Russia and Iran (part of Elam below) are apparently going to terrorize, and this would seem to include the end-time Europeans (cf. Jeremiah 51:43):

24 “There is Elam and all her multitude,
All around her grave,
All of them slain, fallen by the sword,
Who have gone down uncircumcised to the lower parts of the earth,
Who caused their terror in the land of the living;
Now they bear their shame with those who go down to the Pit.
25 They have set her bed in the midst of the slain,
With all her multitude,
With her graves all around it,
All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword;
Though their terror was caused
In the land of the living,
Yet they bear their shame
With those who go down to the Pit;
It was put in the midst of the slain.

26 “There are Meshech and Tubal and all their multitudes,
With all their graves around it,
All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword,
Though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
27 They do not lie with the mighty
Who are fallen of the uncircumcised,
Who have gone down to hell with their weapons of war;
They have laid their swords under their heads,
But their iniquities will be on their bones,
Because of the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
28 Yes, you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised,
And lie with those slain by the sword. (Ezekiel 32:24-28)

Russia is in BRICS and Iran is supposed to officially be a member of BRICS in January 2024.

While Germany and many in Europe are now facing up to the reality of BRICS, and will prosper trading with nations it for a time (cf. Revelation 18) that will not last.

BRICS and the Woes of Revelation

The BRICS nations consist of Brazil, Russia, China, India, and South Africa. In February of 2023, Russia, China, and South Africa held joint naval drills. In the Fall of 2022, India, Russia, and China held joint military exercises. Brazil also has a military cooperation agreement with Russia. The Book of Revelation uses the term woe three in chapter 8 verse 13–those woes are then discussed in later chapters. Could the BRICS nations, along with the coming Babylonian European Beast power be involved in all three of the woes? Do the BRICS nations want to push aside the USA dollar? Is one of the woes tied to the rise of a 200,000,000 man army? Is there any connection to the second woe and the two witnesses? Do the woes correspond with the last of the seven trumpets in the Book of Revelation? Is one of the woes tied to Armageddon? Does Jesus return with the seventh trumpet? Will nations not be pleased when Jesus returns? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie go over these matters.
