While most Americans do not think that the Snowden leaks matter that much, the continental Europeans have been outraged for the past two years and are not getting over it.
Why?
There are several reasons.
One is that they are more and more learning that the amount and scope of the espionage was beyond what they were led to believe.
But the others is that according to a leaked NSA document, the only ones that the USA trusts are its Anglo-Saxon descended allies:

Also in Hard Choices, Hillary Clinton glowingly writes about how well the Obama Administration restored relations with Europe.[ii] Yet, the Europeans are incensed about U.S.A. espionage to the point that various Europeans believe this has caused irreparable damage to relations with the U.S.A. Hillary Clinton is believed to have approved many of the spying actions that the Europeans are incensed over.[iii]
The documents leaked by Edward Snowden showed that the U.S.A. only listed the Anglo-Saxon nations of Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand as “close friends.”[iv] They also showed extensive amounts of spying against the European Union. In addition, some documents revealed that the U.S.A. spied on Germany to a similar degree to the amount of spying it has done on China.[v]
This, and other related matters, outraged the Germans and many other continental Europeans.
The German publication Der Spiegel reported that the U.S.A. considered Germany to be a ‘third rate partner’ in at least one of the leaked documents.[vi] It was reported in 2014, that the Obama Administration may have succeeded in “helping to convert it {Germany} from an ally into an adversary.”[vii] Germany will become an adversary according to Isaiah 10:5-11 and the Obama Administration has contributed to that.
Biblically, the time will come when Europe cannot be trusted (Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 11:21-39). The U.S.A., itself, has repeatedly shown the Europeans that it does not trust them, yet it sometimes will trust them too much. According to the Bible, the time will come when the U.S.A. will find that continental Europe will be an enemy (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11) and not an ally (Ezekiel 23:4,9-10; Lamentations 1:1-2). The Bible shows that Europe will undergo several reorganizations (Revelation 17:12-13; 16-18), and the two reorganizations in Revelation 17:12-13 specifically will not turn out well for the U.S.A.
Related to the Snowden leaks of espionage of Europe, in Hard Choices, Hillary Clinton blames Edward Snowden and Russia for allowing him to stay there, [viii] without apologizing for Obama Administration policies, intrusions, and practices along those lines. The espionage by the USA, along with that of the UK, has been very upsetting to the Europeans and they are not getting over it. Germany, France, and others are still in the process of conducting investigations of this and are upset.
This does not bode well for the US or the UK.
Those in the USA, Canada (whose espionage was also highlighted by Edward Snowden), and UK may hope that the Germans and other Europeans will simply overlook all of this espionage, yet the time will come when the Europeans will take successful military actions against the USA, Canada, and their Anglo-Saxon allies (cf.
