Hillary Clinton is under scrutiny for not following certain government guidelines related to emails while she was US Secretary of State:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Even if Hillary Rodham Clinton’s use of a private email server to conduct official business as secretary of state was not illegal, it violated Obama administration guidance and undermined his pledge of historic transparency.

Clinton’s reliance on hdr22@clintonemail.com for electronic communication as the nation’s top diplomat ignited another political controversy for the presumptive Democratic presidential front-runner, who is no stranger to scandal. It was a puzzling and risky decision for a political figure who is vulnerable to criticism about trying to operate outside the rules.

Clinton has yet to explain why she took the unusual step of using her own server and eschewing a State Department email address. Her silence has left the White House that vowed to run the most open government in history in the awkward position of having to answer for her electronic secrecy.

For the second day in a row Wednesday, Clinton’s emails dominated the White House press briefing. Press secretary Josh Earnest carefully avoided direct criticism of Clinton while making it clear that administration policy is for government emails to be used for official business.

“Very specific guidance has been given to agencies all across the government, which is specifically that employees of the Obama administration should use their official email accounts when they’re conducting official government business,” Earnest said. He added if there are occasions when personal email is used for government business, a copy should be sent to the government account so the message can be properly preserved for inquiries from the public, historians and Congress.

Her decision to exclusively use a private e-mail account while secretary suggests she made a deliberate decision to shield her messages from scrutiny. It was a mistake that reflects poor judgment about a public trust. …

If government officials did use private e-mails for public business, they were required to consider the e-mails to be equivalent to government records and to preserve them. There could be very valid reasons for using personal email, especially when one is Secretary of State. Hillary Clinton has not issued a statement on this as of Wednesday evening–if she does, we will get her side of this.

A report I read yesterday indicated that some feel Hillary Clinton had done so to hide certain emails–ostensibly to prevent her from having to deal with certain matters in the future. Whether or not that is true is hard to discern at this time.

Although Hillary Clinton had stated that she planned to announce her presidential intentions around the start of 2015, this did not happen. A report I saw indicated that her supporters are now looking for her to announce in the Spring or Summer if she will run for the presidency.

If she announces she will run, this will reinvigorate some in her party to support her as well as motivate many Republicans to support someone they feel could possibly beat her in an election. Of course, Hillary Clinton lost the primary election to Barack Obama back in 2008, hence while she is considered as ‘the favorite’ at this time among Democrats, she is not unbeatable. Though at this moment, there are no Republican challengers that would clearly beat her.

For many years I have felt that the USA would likely have a female president, and that this could be Hillary Clinton. Presuming ’email-gate’ blows over, we will see what Hillary Clinton decides to do, as far as presidential aspirations go.
