Infection-gate: A dangerous scandal hitting the USA?

A reader sent me a link to the following:

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say.

In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution…

Both the counselor and the nurse said their superiors tried to cover up the extent of the illnesses.

“When they found out the kids had scabies, the charge nurse was adamant – ‘Don’t mention that. Don’t say scabies,’” the nurse recounted. “But everybody knew they had scabies. Some of the workers were very concerned about touching things and picking things up. They asked if they should be concerned, but they were told don’t worry about it.”

The nurse said the lice issue was epidemic – but everything was kept “hush-hush.”

“Everyone was paranoid,” she said. “The children had more rights than the workers.”

I am calling this “Infection-gate” as it seems to be the latest federal government-related cover-up in the USA (the federal government has declared that immigration is a federal issue, and apparently it does not want certain problems associated with certain immigrants publicized).

Emerging Pathogens & Public Health

We live in a global world where most people outside of North America are likely to die from an infectious disease – something the average US citizen doesn’t worry about, and hasn’t had to since the mid 20^th century. TB, dengue, HIV, influenza, malaria, food-borne illnesses, and environmental (mosquitoes, worms, other insect vectors) threats pose daily risks to most people worldwide, especially the poor, which suggests immigrants from South America, parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia can import their illnesses as they immigrate or travel within our borders.

By May of 2014 the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS, or MERS CoV) arrived in the United States. For many of you, this is a new virus, and another threat emanating out of the Middle East, in case terrorism and energy insecurity weren’t enough! The World Health Organization (WHO) alerted the international community about MERS after identifying the new pathogen from two men who became ill in Jordan in 2012. Early in the MERS lifespan, cases were sporadic. A few cases were in clusters around health care workers and close contacts. Lately the numbers are growing seemingly exponentially…

The US faces an onslaught of threats and challenges, not the least are several which will impact the health of our nation…June 2014 through another safety breach, the CDC allowed ~ 84 workers to be exposed to anthrax. Should we take some solace that the CDC is telling us the public is not at risk? Many do not realize the seriousness of these infections and apparently it is not always politically-correct’ to tell the truth about them.

The movie Contagion (poster shown at the beginning this post) warned about threats that most act like are minor and attempted to show how serious a threat infections can be.

Humankind is at risk. And modern travel, which was prophesied (Daniel 12:4) and other practices are placing humanity at even greater risk, as are genetically-modified foods. Pestilences are a real risk.

Jesus warned:

11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. (Luke 21:11)

Of course, pestilences are prophesied in the Bible. Jesus warned that “pestilences” would be part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:7-8). In the Book of Revelation, death and disease pestilences are predicted with the ride of the fourth horseman:

7 When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” 8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6:7-8)

The ride of the pale horseman of death will result in deaths from war, famine, and pestilence.

Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should. Both spiritually and physically.

The “contagion” of pestilence will bring much more than fear, the fourth horseman will bring massive amounts of actual deaths.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:37)
