‘Make Europe Great Again’ and Canada’s Trudeau pushes for Strong EU

Various ones believe that it is time to Make Europe Great Again (MEGA):

Martin Schulz, who was nominated on January 29 in a surprise move as the Social Democrats’ main candidate, has a realistic chance of winning against Merkel and her Christian Democratic Union of Germany and bringing an unprecedented coalition into office. …

In contrast to the Netherlands, France or of course the US, in Germany, the politician on the rise does not want to disintegrate his country and is not issuing scathing critiques of globalisation and internationalisation while at the same time claiming to be the only legitimate representative of the people. Instead, like his competitor Merkel, Schulz is an advocate of cooperation, particularly within the European Union.

He also makes the case that doing politics means finding compromises.

Unlike the current chancellor though, he calls for change – to create a fairer and more just Germany. No wonder his supporters compare him to Barack Obama. They have even created a picture similar to the iconic Obama Hope poster, but showing Schulz and stating “MEGA”.

The four-letter word stands npt only for Schulz’s fans belief in him as a fantastic candidate, but also as an abbreviation for “Make Europe Great Again”. The play on Trump’s slogan makes an ironic reference to the US president’s promise. Does Europe intend to be “great again”?

BERLIN/WASHINGTON (Own report) – In the run-up to the Munich Security Conference this weekend, leading German foreign policy experts are calling on the EU to reposition itself on the world stage, replacing the United States as the West’s “torchbearer.” Since Washington’s change of government, the United States no longer “qualifies as the symbol of the West’s political and moral leadership,” according to Wolfgang Ischinger, Chair of the Munich Security Conference. It is therefore up to Europe “to make up for this loss.” Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold a programmatic speech at this weekend’s conference, focusing on the future relationship between the EU and the USA. In anticipation of the looming power struggle, in the German capital, the EU is already being warned not to allow itself to be torn apart by outside rivals. Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Roth cautioned against “special deals” being made between individual EU countries and the new Trump administration. If there is sufficient coherence necessitating, for example, majority decisions in foreign policy, “we Europeans” could become an “impressive political and military power,” Ischinger cajoled. …

At the same time, Germany is seeking to assume the role of the defender of global free trade – in clear contrast to the USA and in the hopes of realizing a long-cherished project – ascending on the world stage to “eye level” with Washington.[8]

The “Anti-Trump”

In its political PR, Berlin is extolling its struggle for free trade, as a struggle for “liberal values” – a travesty, in view of the EU’s deadly repulsion of refugees or the close cooperation with repressive regimes such as the dictatorships on the Arabian Peninsula. This PR, however, has success, thanks to widespread international indignation over the new US President’s racist-chauvinist policy. Chancellor Merkel had already assumed this posture in her first reaction to Donald Trump’s election victory. (german-foreign-policy.com reported.[9]) Wolfgang Ischinger, Chair of the Munich Security Conference, has expressed a similar view. “The United States, unfortunately, no longer qualifies as the West’s symbol of political and moral leadership,” Ischinger declared last weekend. “The advent of Trump, signifies the end the West, with the USA as the torchbearer.” Now it is up to Europe “to replace this loss, so that the West does not completely loose out as the model and example” on issues, such as “human rights, liberty, dignity and the role of the individual.”[10] German media have already begun to attribute the role of the “Anti-Trump” to President-elect Frank-Walter Steinmeier.[11] This is remarkable considering the former head of the Chancellery’s involvement in Germany’s support for the CIA’s program of kidnappings and torturing of suspects. More and more in Europe are using the election of Donald Trump to push the rise of Europe.

I warned about this before his election (see ‘Why Europe Secretly Roots For Donald Trump’?) and we are seeing more validating that warning.

Yet, even others outside of Europe are doing this. Notice the following from Canada’s Prime Minister:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hailed the European Union as a bastion of international partnership on Thursday. In a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Trudeau made it clear that Canada sought to distance itself from the protectionism promoted by US President Donald Trump and post-Brexit vote Britain.

“You are a vital player in addressing the challenges that we collectively face as an international community,” he told lawmakers. “Indeed, the whole world benefits from a strong EU.”

The prime minister then called on the EU and Canada to take center stage in the global economy: “We know that, in these times, we must choose to lead the international economy, not simply be subject to its whims.”

Yesterday, the European Union Parliament approved the massive trade deal with Canada known as CETA (see Germany has brought back its gold and EU approves CETA).

While there can be temporal benefits to Canada from trade with Europe, the rise of a stronger Europe will NOT end well for Canada.

The Bible shows that the European Beast will rise again and the world will marvel:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”(Revelation 13:1-4)

The world will marvel because it never considered that Europe could rise up and actually overtake the USA (Daniel 11:39), its Anglo-Saxon allies (Daniel 8:24-25; Jeremiah 30:7), and others (Daniel 11:40-43) militarily. Europe will also become the world’s premier economic power.

But the Bible shows Europe will be a horrible leader that true Christians will be persecuted by and that the European Beast/Babylonian power will not last very long:

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (Revelation 13:5-10)

True Christians are warned not to be part of this Babylonian power as it will be destroyed:

1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.

9 “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, 10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

11 “And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: 12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; 13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men. 14 The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, 16 and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! 17 For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance 18 and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’

19 “They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.’

20 “Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!” (Revelation 18:1-20)

However, various ones in Europe, Canada, and elsewhere are pushing for its rise.

The push to make Europe great again by having a stronger Europe will not end well for the world nor for Europe itself.

Yet, because most political leaders do not properly respect the Bible, they do not realize that what they are advocating will end in death and destruction (cf. Proverbs 14:12; 16:25).

The Bible shows that Europe will be a great power (Revelation 17 & 18), have a “great army” (Daniel 11:25), will persecute God’s people (Daniel 7:25; 11:29-35; Revelation 13:7), takeover many countries (Daniel 8:24-25, 11:39-43), lead the world to the brink of destruction (cf. Matthew 24:21-22), and ultimately be destroyed (Daniel 11:44-45; Revelation 19).

But many are foolishly, and unknowingly, working towards that end.

Europe will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-14) and become the power that the Bible warns against.

Many are using the election of Donald Trump as an excuse to accelerate the rise of Europe. This will not end will for Europe or the world. But Jesus will return and establish the Kingdom of God.
