Marcus Söder pushes for Bavarian space program

Last Spring, Bavaria’s premier Markus Söder announced that Bavarian state buildings would get crosses added to them (see ‘German state orders crosses mounted in government buildings’: A step towards the ‘mark of the beast’?).

He now has announced plans for a Bavarian space program:

Bavarian Premier Markus Söder was ruthlessly mocked on German social media on Thursday, for the way he presented plans for a dedicated space program for the southeastern German state.

Söder described his plans during a meeting of his Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister party of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU). The party convention was widely watched as Bavaria gears up for regional elections on October 14, and polls indicate that the CSU, which has dominated Bavarian politics for decades, is about to receive its worst results since 1950. …

But it was the unveiling of the “Bavaria One: Mission Zukunft” (“Bavaria One: Mission Future”) that got Söder international attention on Tuesday, as he was standing in front of a giant emblem for the program bearing his own face. “Bavaria is the market leader,” he said, “we are investing in digitalization, robotics, artifical intelligence, Hyperloop, and space travel.”

German Twitter users swiftly took Söder to task for what was perceived as hubris …

As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware, I have long written that Europe would develop space and other technology (see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation).

Interestingly, in Daniel 11:21, the Bible shows that the coming King of the North will be one who has been mocked/rejected. Here are three translations of that verse:

21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud. (Daniel 11:21, Douay-Rheims)

21 “‘His place will be taken by a reject, a man spurned and passed over for advancement. He’ll surprise everyone, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and will seize the kingdom. (Daniel 11:21 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

While that does not mean that Markus Söder will be the King of the North (though because of some of his steps, I have not ruled him out), Daniel 11:21 does show that some one or some ideas that people are critical of will one day arise in Europe.
