Biden, Merkel Agree to Disagree on Russian Pipeline

“Good friends can disagree,” U.S. President Joe Biden said … alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the two leaders answered questions about their differences on a controversial Russian natural gas pipeline.

Biden said the United States and Germany would be looking at what practical measures could be taken if Ukraine’s energy security was weakened.

The $11 billion Nord Stream 2 pipeline, nearing completion, will allow Germany to double the amount of gas it imports from Russia. But it would bypass Ukraine, thus depriving Kyiv of lucrative transit fees.

Biden said he and Merkel agreed that “Russia must not be allowed to use energy as a weapon to coerce or threaten its neighbors.”

Following an afternoon of White House meetings between top officials of the United States and Germany, Merkel said, “We’ve come to different assessments as to what this project entails. But let me say very clearly: Our idea is Ukraine remains a transit country for natural gas.” https://www.voanews.com/usa/biden-merkel-agree-disagree-russian-pipeline

The USA had wanted to supply Germany the natural gas instead–so this is NOT just a Ukraine financial loss–and at a higher cost to Germany. Germany not only did not want to pay more, it did not feel safer going towards US energy than Russia. The practical reality is that Nord Stream 2 increases Russian influence over Europe.

It has long been my view that the Germans (and other Europeans) would make a deal with Russia against the US. We are seeing deals starting to take place.

A decade or so after I came to the conclusion that the Germans/Europeans would make a deal with Russia against the US, I saw for the first time the following items from the old Radio Church of God:

Modern Europe is counseling and making treaties and alliances and agreements to conquer this earth! … Germany, those living in Germany, even the German government, may not yet know that they are going to join in a treaty with the Russians to destroy the United States and bring it to its knees-it is not in his “heart” to think so, but on the other hand it IS in his “heart” to destroy-the very characteristic of the Assyrian, the modern German, is a harsh, cruel, iron, dedication to militarism and destruction! …

MAN’S ONLY HOPE LIES IN TURNING TO HIS CREATOR GOD! “At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom. to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, TURN FROM THEIR EVIL, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them… Behold, I frame evil against YOU, and devise a device against YOU: return ye now EVERY ONE from his evil way and make your ways and your doings good!” (Jer. 18:7, 8, 11). The German people are now asking themselves: “Can we rely on the Americans and British?” … These questions lead to the logical conclusion that maybe the only people the Germans can rely on are themselves. They are now thinking: “Perhaps we can strike a better bargain with the Russians ourselves.” … Once a German-dominated Europe is fully established, Germany will be ready to negotiate and bargain with Russia- and behind the backs of the Western Allies if necessary. …

When will a Russo-German deal be made?

Here is a quotation from a circular letter issued in September, 1950 by the Nazi Geo-political Center in Madrid: “However long we may continue to milk the Americans of millions of dollars, there must come the inevitable moment when we shall have to make it crystal clear to them that we are not willing to join the fight against Russia for American interests … (Germany Plots with the Kremlin by T H. Terens, p. 15). …

Most Americans and Britons are not aware of what Germany and Europe are planning against them. This is partly due to the cunning of German. politics. …

World events are moving swiftly toward the climax when Great Britain and the United. States will be attacked, conquered and DESTROYED! (Boraker R. Are the Germans Secretly Dealing with Moscow? Plain Truth, May 1962, pp. 45-47)

The deal Russia will later make with the Europeans will not end well for the US (cf. Daniel 11:39). While Nord Stream 2, per se, is not the deal I am referring to, it helps set the stage for a deal that could take place in just a relatively few years. It should be noted that this Beast leader is NOT Russian (see also Is Russia the King of the North?), but European (watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?). Despite claims from Protestant Joel Richardson, this Beast leader also is NOT Islamic (see also Is There an Islamic Antichrist?).

On other European matters, notice the following:

The July 2 “Joint Declaration on the Future of the European Union” represents the first significant endeavor by euroskeptic parties to jointly oppose efforts by European federalists to transform the European Union into a godless multicultural superstate.

The document states that the European Union requires “profound reform” because, “instead of protecting Europe,” it has itself become “a source of problems, anxiety and uncertainty.” The signatories say that the EU has become a tool of “radical forces” that are determined to carry out a civilizational transformation of Europe. Their objective, they say, is to create a European superstate void of European traditions, social institutions or moral principles.

“We are convinced that the cooperation of European nations must be based on tradition, on respect for the culture and history of European States, on respect for the Judeo-Christian heritage of Europe and on the common values that unite our nations — and not in their destruction.” — Joint Declaration on the Future of the European Union, July 2, 202107/12/21 https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/17558/european-union-superstate

So, some in Europe are worried that the EU is becoming “a godless multicultural superstate.”

And they, while not objecting to a superstate per se, want “respect for the Judeo-Christian heritage of Europe and on the common values,” which are mainly Roman Catholic, with Protestantism and Eastern Orthodoxy mixed in.

What was the aim of these “prime movers” of the U.S.-of-Europe movement?

“Primarily their aim was to create a powerful superstate out of the Catholic countries bordering the Rhine and the Alps: a bastion of Christian civilization against the communist and socialist threat at home and abroad…. They were inclined to lump communism and socialism together as the common atheist enemy…. But their main aim was to create a federal state in which Frenchmen, Italians, and Germans would find a new patriotism” (The General Says No, by Nora Beloff.)

Believe it or not, long ago, God Almighty revealed through the prophecies of the Bible that the coming United States of Europe would have strong religious connections.

Here is a rather interesting quote, from a British news magazine, TOPIC (March 24, 1962). This article appeared during the time when Britain was still knocking on the Common Market door — before her first rejection by the Six.

“The Vatican, usually cautious over political changes not of its own inspiration, now considers the Commoin Market the work of Divine Providence. Not since the times of Spain’s Charles V has a Roman Catholic political force been so strongly welded. Not since the end of the Holy Roman Empire has the Holy See been offered a Catholic rallying point like the Common Market. If the ‘Pact of Rome,’ which created the Common Market, had been signed within the Vatican walls, it could not have favoured the Church more. There are 134,000,000 Catholics out of a total population of 175,000,000 in the original Six nations. The only Protestant bloc is in Western Germany, which remains a shaky 51 percent Protestant. But the 26,000,000 West German Catholics are not a silent minority, and can be compared to the Irish in America for aggressiveness, superb organization in politics, and calm optimism for the day when they become the majority. Meanwhile, they draw comfort knowing that 77 percent of the Six are Catholics.”…

Certainly, whatever happens, Bible prophecy shows that the coming United States of Europe — referred to in King James’ language as the “BEAST” of Revelation 13 and 17 — will have strong religious (or “Christian”) connections. Sitting astride a United Europe will be a great Church or Church system — prophesied two thousand years ago (see Rev. 17).

But, who is the “Beast” mentioned in the 13th and 17th chapters of Revelation?

Many Bible commentaries point out that the “Beast” of the 13th and 17th chapters of Revelation is “the Roman Empire.” It is also interesting that a Roman Catholic Bible (New Testament, Confraternity edition — published by the Catholic Book Publishing Company) has an interesting footnote comment on Rev. 17:11 as follows: “The beast spoken of here seems to be the Roman Empire, as in chapter 13.”

The Modern Roman Empire

Let’s speak plainly: the prophecies of your Bible reveal that in this end-time there would be the seventh and final revival (or resurrection) of the Roman Empire. …

In the second chapter of Daniel, we find this same world kingdom depicted as the ten toes of the great image — representing the ten kings ultimately to unite at the very end of this age of man’s 6,000-year period of misrule!

This is also depicted as a “Beast” in Revelation 17:8-17. Here we see a “Beast” — picturing the Roman Empire — which is to ascend out of a “bottomless pit.” But it will go into perdition or destruction. When the inhabitants of the earth see this “Beast” — this Fascist form of government — come out of a condition of virtual nonexistence, they’re going to be dumbfounded. They “shall wonder”! (Verse 8.)

Yes, the whole world will be utterly amazed when they see this “Beast” resurrected or revived — for the last time, thank God! (McNair R. Bible Prophecy Foretells – A STRONG UNITED EUROPE. Tomorrow’s World, February 1970)

The old WCG warned of a superstate coming in Europe, but it also warned it would have some type of Greco-Roman Catholic ties. The joint declaration from so-called euroskeptics is consistent with that.

15 years after the above by Raymond McNair was published, the old WCG published the following:

The Bible shows that 10 nations or groups of nations in Europe will be goaded by circumstances to unite. They will be unlikely allies, “iron mixed with miry clay” is how the Bible describes them (Dan. 2). But a common cause — or a common fear — forces them into a fragile union.

There is nothing fragile about what happens next. These 10 nations, spurred on by religious idealism, give up their sovereignty to a charismatic leader. This leader and the superstate that he rules are described in the prophecies as a particularly ferocious and predatory wild animal, the like of which the world has not seen. The peaceful and ambivalent nature of Europe today will change. Led by a voracious appetite and possessing — perhaps possessed by — the very power of Satan himself, this economic-political-religious union — this wild animal or “beast” — will go on the rampage. For three and a half terrible years it savages real and imagined enemies. Britain, the United States and certain Middle East countries are among the first to fall, but no nation is safe. Much of the world is plunged into the greatest period of oppression that it has ever known. (Halford J. Old Barracks and the New Europe. Plain Truth, May 1985)

Yes, Europe is in the process of putting together a superstate. Yes, the USA will be destroyed (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also ) as will its British-descended allies (see USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses), as well as certain Middle East countries (cf. Daniel 11:40-43; see also Is the Future King of the South Rising Up?).

While Europe is not particularly religious at this time, after signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12) and the start of the ride of the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6:7-8; watch Fourth Horseman, COVID, and the Rise of the Beast of Revelation), it will be.

Angela Merkel wants a strong and united Europe. Religion WILL play a role.

The Biden-Harris Administration is not going to be able to stop the religious superstate in Europe from happening.
