Within hours of an emotional vote by the Catalan Parliament, Spain’s prime minister announced that he would dismantle Catalonia’s government, suspend its ministers, dissolve its upstart legislature, take over the regional police and call home any Catalan diplomats abroad.
And that’s exactly what he did.
In recent days, the news has died down a bit. But the rupture remains. And so does the potential for many more such ruptures all across the European Union.

Is Dr. Weiss correct that the European Union is having problems?
Yes.
Is he correct that there are nationalistic and regional forces that are causing unity issues in the European Union?
Yes.
Is he correct that there are issues in Germany?
Yes.
But does that mean that the EU will fragment and a united Europe will basically crumble away?
No.
While the EU is having problems, Europe will not crumble away.
Despite what it looks like, Christians should look to the Bible.
The Apostle Paul taught that Christians “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
The Bible prophesied that the Europeans would have problems with unity:
42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. (Daniel 2:42-44)
Europe will reorganize:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
The above is a reference to a reorganization that will NOT be limited to currently existing national borders.
As far as Germany goes, it specifically will be part of those that will support a strongman type of leader. He is called “the beast” in Revelation 17.
In addition to calling him a beast (Daniel 7:19-20), the Old Testament also refers to him as the final “King of the North” (Daniel 11:40) as well as the “king of Assyria” (Isaiah 10:12; see also ).
Philadelphian Christians (Revelation 3:7-13) truly realize, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:12).
As far as Brexit goes, we in the Philadelphian portion of the Church of God have taught that the UK would NOT remain part of the final European power.
Let’s look at some statements put out by the writers once part of the old Radio Church of God, old Worldwide Church of God, and/or the current Continuing Church of God related to Europe and the United Kingdom in the 20th and 21st centuries:
Bible prophecy clearly shows that Britain will not be one of the … NATIONS comprising the final United States of Europe (McNair R. A Strong United Europe. Tomorrow’s World, February 1970, p. 17).
Perhaps it should be mentioned that the general position within the Churches of God is that Britain will not remain in the EU and will pull out at some point. (Thiel B. It should be understood that ultimately, Britain will NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power–yet its former Prime Minister is promoting something that will not help the peoples of the UK. Ephraim (modern Great Britain) will not be part of the “Beast” power, so we can expect some significant change that will push the British out of the EU. (Davis. D. Ireland says “No!” to EU power grab. Commentary, July, 1 2008)
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not be an equal part of the European Union. Britain will either pull out or be forced out or at least truly lose its sovereignty. Many of the Anglo-peoples of the UK, USA, etc. that are not killed will to be scattered and many will be made slaves (Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?). That is what the Bible shows will happen during the Great Tribulation.
As far as this “Beast King” goes, he could possibly be the next EU president, but a restructure ultimately will be needed in Europe for the King of the North to have the type of power that the Bible indicate he will have (Revelation 17:12-13). The EU is not ready for that yet.
However, Tony Blair’s statements today are pointing to one more step towards certain biblical prophesies being fulfilled as he is realizing that the UK wants to pull out of the UK–and that is something will happen (directly or indirectly).
The final King of the North (Daniel 11:27-40) will take over the UK, USA, and their Anglo-allies according to Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39). While more people in the UK are starting to realize that the EU poses dangers to it, most have no idea how dangerous the rising Beast power in Europe will become (cf. Revelation 13:1-4; Daniel 11:39). Britain will ultimately NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power. (Thiel B. Back in the early 1990s, when I was vice president of an irrigation equipment manufacturer, I told our British sales representative, who was then visiting the factory in California, that one day the UK would separate from Europe. He flat out told me that could not possibly happen. And he gave reasons, but they were not biblical ones–I told him he was in error. The Brexit situation shows that he, who was not part of the Church of God, was in error.
Most people do NOT realize what will happen in Europe.
Europe is not going to ‘get over’ the Brexit and will one day take actions that most of those in the UK (as well as USA and Canada) will not consider possible (cf. Daniel 8:24-25, 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
We are getting closer to the final time of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24; Revelation 11:2), therefore problems in Europe are expected (Daniel 2:42-44). Yet people who walk by sight instead of faith will not see it until it is too late (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:3).
We in the Continuing Church of God “have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV).
Believe properly understood Bible prophecies above human opinions: “let God be true but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).
Europe will one day reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13; see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?) and be the dominant force in the world–for a time (cf. Revelation chapters 13, 17, & 18; see also Europa, the Beast, and Revelation).

Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations? Some claim that these passages refer to a gathering of 10 currently existing nations together, while one group teaches that this is referring to 11 nations getting together. Forbes’ Brexit Monster is the Beast of Revelation Various ones have been properly convinced that there is a plan for a European superstate.
