More Chinese pressure against Bitcoin for ‘beast-related’ reasons

The Chinese government is taking more moves against Bitcoin as it wants more financial controls:

BEIJING — China’s biggest online marketplace, Alibaba’s Taobao, will ban the sale of bitcoins on the heels of a government crackdown against the virtual currency aimed at plugging a potential gap in the country’s tight controls on capital flows.

The move comes as Alibaba, China’s biggest e-commerce company, seeks the smoothest of rides toward a giant initial public offering (IPO) of stock expected later this year. In a statement posted on its website late on Tuesday, Taobao said the ban is effective from January 14.

Taobao’s move to fall in line with the government’s wishes also comes as Alibaba presses on with efforts to stamp out the sale of fake goods on the online marketplace ahead of the IPO. Alibaba has been conservatively estimated to be worth over $100 billion.

“The central bank clearly has required third-party payment services to close bitcoin… trading channels,” Taobao said in its statement, without disclosing any details on bitcoin sales through its platform up to now. http://www.voanews.com/content/reu-alibab-division-bans-bitcoin-trading-china-crackdown-ipo-looms/1825553.html

The Chinese government’s apparent Bitcoin concern is that it wants more financial controls.

Bitcoin wants to survive, but governments seem to believe that they have the right to financial controls even for ‘currencies’ they have had no part in producing.

On the other hand, there are some who believe that Bitcoin will become fully regulated/taken over to the point that it will be associated with the ‘mark of the beast.’ Here is one such comment:

If I’m allowed to get Biblical…”Rich man or poor man, free or bond, will not be allowed to buy or sell unless he accepts the mark of the beast.”

Bitcoin is a very smooth end run to achieve that objective.

Yet, it is not likely that ‘Bitcoin’ will be the currency of the Beast. But the Chinese seem to have ‘beast-related’ reasons to go against Bitcoin.

As far as the the “mark of the beast” scripture goes, it is from the Book of Revelation. Notice that it makes the following statements concerning the financial controls of the coming Beast power:

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)

The Bible is clear that the time is coming when the Beast power will have implemented some type of strong financial control. The Chinese want Bitcoin restricted and/or eliminated as they do not have the control over it that they want.

As far as what Bitcoin is, here are comments from what Bitcoin’s website says about it:

Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.

FWIW, I have never had or traded in Bitcoins or other alternatives like that. The idea of a financial system free of government regulations and reporting appeals to many, but governments tend to frown on that–generally speaking, governments want to be able to control/regulate more and more, not allow people to have freedoms to be regulated/controlled less.

All of that being said, the Chinese would like their currency to replace the USA dollar as the world’s reserve currency. And if they thought that Bitcoin would help them do that, they would consider giving up some control for that objective. But unless they see that, the Chinese, like many governments, likes to limit free financial choices.

As far as the USA dollar goes, the time is coming that the USA dollar will be worthless. And yes, the Bible tells that for a time gold will be worthless, but that does not happen until years after the demise of the US dollar. But placing too much confidence in gold, currencies, or alternatives like Bitcoin will not truly save anyone (cf. 1 Peter 1:7). Yet, true repentance and turning to the Jesus of the Bible can.

Although the USA is not likely to repent to prevent this nationally, nor can the action of the Chinese or something like Bitcoin prevent it, personally you can repent as well as physically take steps before the dollar-based economic systems collapses.
