Nancy Pelosi speaks in Taiwan, China angry as the USA shows itself to be “an hypocritical nation”

US Speaker of the House of Representatives met with leaders in Taiwan today. As her tweet above shows, this was not intended as a personal visit, but an official Congressional visit. The Associated Press reported the following:

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, meeting leaders in Taiwan despite warnings from China, said Wednesday that she and other members of Congress in a visiting delegation are showing they will not abandon their commitment to the self-governing island.
“Today the world faces a choice between democracy and autocracy,” she said in a short speech during a meeting with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen. “America’s determination to preserve democracy, here in Taiwan and around the world, remains ironclad.” …
Pelosi’s trip has heightened U.S.-China tensions more than visits by other members of Congress because of her high-level position as leader of the House of Representatives. She is the first speaker of the House to visit Taiwan in 25 years, since Newt Gingrich in 1997.
Taiwanese President Tsai responded Wednesday to Beijing’s military intimidation.
“Facing deliberately heightened military threats, Taiwan will not back down,” Tsai said at her meeting with Pelosi. “We will firmly uphold our nation’s sovereignty and continue to hold the line of defense for democracy.”
Tsai, thanking Pelosi for her decades of support for Taiwan, presented the speaker with a civilian honor, the Order of the Propitious Clouds.
China’s response has been loud and varied.
Shortly after Pelosi landed Tuesday night, China announced live-fire drills that reportedly started that night, as well as the four-day exercises starting Thursday.
The People’s Liberation Army Air Force also flew a contingent of 21 war planes Tuesday night, including fighter jets, toward Taiwan. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng also summoned the U.S. ambassador in Beijing, Nicholas Burns, to convey the country’s protests the same night.

While this visit will not spark World War III, there will be consequences. China has already put on a military display. China has also been taking steps to bypass the USA dollar, and will take more steps. China will also be quite willing to support the end of the USA, which is prophesied to come (cf. Daniel 11:39; Jeremiah 30:7). China is likely to take trade-related steps as well as take further steps in controlling more of the South China Sea.

(Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Wednesday that the level of tension provoked by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan “should not be underestimated”.

Russia is supporting China’s position on this. And yes, there will be consequences.
China may decide to put out a naval blockade around Taiwan as well as take other actions to reduce its independence.
China, ultimately, will be at least confederate with Taiwan according to my read of prophecies in the Book of Revelation. This visit looks to be a spark for China to take more steps towards reunification. Nancy Pelosi’s visit may well be used as part of China’s justification in taking over Taiwan in the future.

A statement in state-run Global Times has declared the “median line” separating the Taiwan Strait will not longer be recognized.
“Joint military exercises around the island of Taiwan by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) continued Wednesday with a joint blockade, sea assault and land and air combat trainings, involving the use of advanced weapons including J-20 stealth fighter jets and DF-17 hypersonic missiles after the drills started on Tuesday evening, when US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed on the island which seriously violates China’s sovereignty,” the provocative statement says.

In a reckless provocation that deliberately heightens war tensions with China, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan late last night aboard a military aircraft accompanied by her congressional delegation.
Despite concerns over the potential for a military clash or conflict with China, the Biden administration came together with the entire US political and military establishment in backing Pelosi’s trip. …
US officials, the American media and Pelosi herself promoted the lie that her trip and the accompanying military operation was “routine,” and her presence in Taipei did not deviate from decades of American policy and diplomacy.
Pelosi’s trip is anything but routine. She is the highest-ranking US official to visit Taiwan in more than a quarter century. Her visit is just the latest in calculated steps taken by the Trump and Biden administrations to undermine the One China policy that has been the foundation of political relations between the US and China since formal diplomatic ties were established in 1979.
Under the One China policy, Washington de facto recognised that Beijing as the legitimate government of all China, including the island of Taiwan. It broke off diplomatic relations with the military dictatorship in Taipei and withdrew its military forces from the island. …

China believes that there is one China and that Taiwan is part of China. The USA officially has a “One China policy.” Meaning that it officially does not recognize Taiwan as independent from China.

The One China principle is the position held by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) that there is only one sovereign state under the name China, with the PRC serving as the sole legitimate government of that China, and Taiwan is a part of China.[1][2] It is opposed to the idea that there are two states holding the name “China”, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC); as well as the idea that China and Taiwan form two separate countries. …

The issue here is USA hypocrisy.
Since Nancy Pelosi is visiting Taiwan in an official US government capacity, and the USA position is that Taiwan is part of China, and since China said Nancy Pelosi was not to come, then the USA looks to have violated its own policy and violated Chinese sovereignty.
That is not posted here to justify any military action by either side.
But it is posted to point out that much of the USA media and political class has failed to see USA hypocrisy here.
The Bible, KJV translation, predicts the end of “an hypocritical nation” (Isaiah 10:5-11).
The Bible also warns:
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
As far as Nancy Pelosi herself goes, she has been accused of hypocrisy before. She is a professed Roman Catholic, while also being a staunch supporter of abortion and sexual perversion “rights.”

Now, obviously it’s not up to China to dictate US policy or actions. But like Alcibiades’ trip to the Peloponnese in 418 BC, there is absolutely zero benefit in Pelosi going to Taiwan.
The US economy is in a tailspin. … Inflation is raging. People are suffering.
What exactly does this woman hope to achieve? Will her visit to Taiwan somehow make inflation miraculously retreat? … It’s all risk and no reward… just so that Pelosi can showboat in front of the cameras before her retirement next year.
You’d think that someone with decades of political experience– an ‘expert’ in international diplomacy– would understand such a simple reality, and then rationally choose the course of action which will benefit her country the most. But that’s a laughable proposition.
Pelosi has a multi-decade track record of deceit, disloyalty, cowardice, and arrogance. She’s even despised by prominent members of her own party. …
Something is clearly wrong with this system that produces such bizarre, lopsided outcomes from serially corrupt and incompetent candidates.

The point of this post is NOT to pick on Nancy Pelosi.
The point is to point out another area of USA hypocrisy. Understand that because the USA has an official “one China policy” that it told China it would adhere to, it should abide by its policy. If not, it should have changed its policy.
There are many ways that the USA has shown itself to be hypocritical.
And the Bible teaches destruction will come to “an hypocritical nation” (Isaiah 10:6, KJV).
The USA and its Anglo-Saxon-Celtic allies will not last to the end of this century.
