New European pressure for peace talks in the Middle East
France’s new President Macron wants peace talks to resume in the Middle East:
July 16, 2017
PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron appealed Sunday to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for renewed Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to create two independent states.
Macron warned, however, that continued Jewish settlement construction could threaten such negotiations and eventual peace prospects.
“I call for a resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians in the framework of the search for a solution of two states, Israel and Palestine, living in recognized, secure borders with Jerusalem as the capital,” Macron told reporters.
At his side, Netanyahu said, “We share the same desire for a peaceful Middle East,” but didn’t elaborate on eventual peace talks.
Macron condemned an attack last week that killed two Israeli police officers at a Jerusalem shrine revered by Jews and Muslims. Macron’s office said he is concerned about Israel’s security but also worried that Netanyahu is backing away from commitment to a two-state solution. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/netanyahu-joins-macron-at-french-holocaust-commemoration/2017/07/16/e575a9c8-6a0c-11e7-abbc-a53480672286_story.html?utm_term=.82dbcdc89976
The attack that President Macron condemned was reported about earlier here–and instead of condemnation, the group known as Hamas celebrated it and called for an uprising against Israel (see Hamas calls for uprising against Israel).
It may be of interest to not that a couple of years ago, some were reporting that Hamas was ready to sign a temporary peace deal with Israel:
August 17, 2015
Ramallah: Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip, is set to sign a comprehensive agreement with the Israeli regime that will lift the eight-year old siege placed on the territory, Israeli media has reported.
The Times of Israel new site reported that Gaza will be allowed to import merchandise through a ‘floating port’ located three kilometres off the coast. An intermediary port will be established in Cyprus, where all Gaza-bound merchandise will be scrutinised by Nato representatives. …
Hamas affiliated news outlets reported that the movement’s Shura Council, its most senior decision-making body, endorsed the agreement following prolonged discussions.
“This agreement is no longer just rumours but will be signed any minute,” said Walid Awad, a member of the People’s Party in Gaza. http://gulfnews.com/news/mena/palestine/hamas-to-sign-long-term-ceasefire-deal-with-israel-1.1568439

TEL AVIV – Hamas’ political leadership tentatively accepted the terms of an eight-year truce with Israel, according to sources within Hamas.
The sources, speaking to WND from the Gaza Strip, said Israel gave support to Egypt to accept a Hamas delegation for further talks on the proposed long-term cease-fire.
After discussions in Egypt, the Hamas delegation, headed by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, will travel to Qatar and Turkey for more input on the deal, which is being brokered by former Quartet envoy and ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The Hamas sources said the current version of the truce, as accepted in theory by Hamas’s politburo, includes a Hamas pledge to stop all rocket fire from Gaza and to cease digging tunnels into Israel.
Hamas also agreed not to operate within 30 meters of the Israeli border, the sources said.
In return, the Hamas sources said, Israel agreed to allow thousands of Palestinians from Gaza to enter the Jewish state for work, a detail that cannot be confirmed with Israeli diplomatic sources. http://www.wnd.com/2015/08/hamas-accepts-terms-of-8-year-truce-with-israel/#bdP2wZLPwSEyq787.99
However, Israel denied this:

A flurry of reports that Israel and Hamas were on the verge of signing a long-term deal has led to official denials from Jerusalem and to deep concern among Fatah officials in the West Bank.
PA officials warned that any such agreement would pave the way for the establishment of a separate Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip.
The warning came amid reports that Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal and former British prime minister Tony Blair have reached under – standings regarding a pro – posed truce. Unconfirmed reports claimed that Hamas was ready to strike a deal with Israel in return for the creation of a sea passage between Cyprus and the Gaza Strip.
Yasin Aktay, an adviser to Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, was quot – ed in a Gaza-based newspaper as saying that a long-term Hamas-Israel deal was in the offing, as was reconciliation between Israel and Turkey over the MV Mavi Marmara incident.
Mashaal held talks in Turkey last week.
The Prime Minister’s Office reversed a previous policy of not responding to the stories, instead issuing a denial of the reports.
“Israel formally clarifies that there are no meetings with Hamas,” the Prime Minister’s Office said on Monday evening. “Neither directly, through third countries, nor through mediators.” http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/Netanyhaus-office-Israel-is-not-holding-direct-or-indirect-talks-with-Hamas-412389
Although Hamas and Israel are not close to signing a significant peace deal, the time will come when there is a temporary ‘peace deal’ in the general region (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).
Interestingly, the deal of Daniel 9:27 will have a time-element attached to it. And that is probably something that would be needed for groups like Hamas to agree to it.
Notice what Daniel 9:26-27:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
The above is referring to a deal or covenant that has a time element attached to it.
The ‘one week’ time element has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that will be broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). The ‘with many’ would seem to indicate that ‘many’ nations, as opposed to one or two, are agreeing to something.
The reference to a “prince” is referring to the leader of the developing European empire (see King of the North and Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation). One way to show this is to realize that it was the people of the Roman Empire of the 1st century that fulfilled the portion of Daniel 9:26 as they destroyed the city (Jerusalem) in 70 A.D. In the 21st century, the European Union includes much of the land and peoples that were part of the ancient Roman Empire. And it is a “prince” coming from that people which verse 27 is referring to.
Thus, this prophecy tells us that a lower level European leader will somewhat officially start to rise up about 3 1/2 years before the great tribulation (and yes, according to Jesus, some “tribulation” does happen prior to the start of the Great Tribulation). Another reason we know this is a European leader is the fact that the “beast of the sea” of Revelation 13:1 fits with the beasts from the “great sea” of Daniel 7:2–and that sea is the Mediterranean Sea according to the Old Testament (Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16). Hence a power in Europe, which is the only region that could have an empire geographically like the old Roman one (for more details, please see Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation).
Daniel 9:27 seems to be discussing some type of peace deal that the Europeans will either propose and/or at least one leader from Europe will endorse. Those that claim that the “prince to come” in Daniel 9:26 is Jesus and that He is the one that confirms a covenant with many for one week, etc., will not understand what is happening related to this deal. The “prince to come” is the final European King of the North. He is the one in Daniel 11:31 who fulfills bringing the end of the sacrifice and offering in 3 1/2 years (the middle of a seven year prophetic week) after the deal is made.
During Jesus’ ministry, He did not destroy the city nor the sanctuary, nor is there a biblical record that He confirmed a seven-year covenant. Perhaps it should also be pointed out that for sacrifices in Israel to stop, they first must start–it may very well be that the Israeli government will allow them after the deal of Daniel 9:27 is put together and/or confirmed. Although they could start earlier, after the deal seems to be the more likely time for regular sacrifices–and we know that animal sacrifices will occur after the deal (the Bible does not state whether any begin prior to the deal).
As far as animal sacrifices go, the reconstituted Sanhedrin is willing to do them WITHOUT the need for another temple–not only is this consistent with the Bible (Ezra 3:6), they also confirmed this with me years ago in writing (see Why is a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem Not Required?). As soon as they get governmental permission they would like to resume sacrifices. The Temple Institute seems to have a ‘red heifer’ (see The Red Heifer, Jewish Beliefs, and the End of the World) and also informed me personally that they are willing to resume animal sacrifices without the necessity of a physical temple being rebuilt in Jerusalem (see Why is a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem Not Required?).
While various Catholic and Protestant prophecy watchers have long felt that Daniel 9:27 has to be a deal with a seven-year term involving ‘the Beast,’ the Bible does not state that the deal itself must be seven years–only that it is confirmed for seven years. Plus, consider that the Bible teaches that the leader that CONFIRMS the deal for seven-years is only called a ‘prince’ related to this deal–he is not a ‘king’ (actually the King of the North) until later, when he also will be the risen Beast of Revelation.
It is very likely that the peace deal related to Daniel 9 will have a different length of time associated with it other than seven-years. It may have multiple parts with different lengths of time. Thus, this could be a reason people will point to that and say it is not the deal related to Daniel 9:27. It also is likely to come about differently than many expect. Even the man who became the Apostle Nathaniel tried to argue against Jesus because of where he thought Jesus was from (John 1:43-51). Others did the same and indicated that scripture supported their view (John 7:41-42). But Jesus was the Messiah, despite misapplication of details and scripture. Others will likely point to scriptures as proof that they are right to discount the deal in Daniel 9:27, but they too, will be wrong.
Consider what happens if the Beast does not actually broker the deal? What if he only confirms a portion of the deal for seven years? Since the deal will start to be broken by Daniel 11:31, many will not understand it until it is too late.
And all Daniel 9:26-27 literally requires is that a ‘prince’ from the areas once controlled by the old Roman Empire will confirm a deal for a seven-year period. This confirmation could also simply be for one part of a more complex agreement and could possibly happen a year or two after the agreement is in place.
President Macron met with US President Donald Trump a couple of days ago. Donald Trump also would like to see a peace deal in the Middle East.
All that being said, the fact that a European leader is once again pushing for the Middle East talks shows that the Bible’s prophecy related to a deal is consistent with what certain political leaders are currently thinking. And yes, the deal of Daniel 9:27 will come to pass.
