Obama Adminstration shifting military towards Asia, including Korea

The Obama Administration continues its push to shift military priorities to Asia:

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is forging ahead with a military agenda that reflects the Obama administration’s rising security and economic interests in the region and his own passions for Asia…

The Asian rebalance, “is a priority,” Mr. Hagel said at a news conference Wednesday here with the South Korean defense minister, Kim Kwan-jin. “You always adjust your resources to match your priorities.”…the policy has antagonized the Chinese, which some experts believe is needless…Pentagon officials say they are managing the tensions while devoting new resources to a region of increased strategic interest…their military might in the region – four littoral combat ships to be deployed in Singapore, increased joint military exercises with Asian and 2,500 Marines in Darwin, Australia – are more visible.

Although Mr. Obama has cut military spending in various parts of the world, it has remained largely unchanged in Asia. The United States and South Korea have signed an agreement meant to provide greater deterrence against North Korea’s nuclear weapons.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and his South Korean counterpart Kim Kwan-jin signed the deal Wednesday in Seoul during annual security talks.

Hagel said the plan underscores the two countries’ concern over the North’s “nuclear and ballistic missile programs, its proliferation activities, and its chemical weapons.”…

On Tuesday, Hagel attended Seoul’s largest military parade in a decade. The Armed Forces Day parade featured over 11,000 troops and 120 aircraft, and showed off the South’s new domestically-built missiles. The South has claimed the missiles are capable of hitting North Korean leaders.

North Korea, which regularly holds such military displays, on Wednesday condemned the South’s parade. And even though China and the rest of Asia will have some prominence in the end times (as there are prophesied related to the “kings of the east” of Revelation 16:12 and a 200,000,000 man army of Revelation 9:13-21), Asia will not end up as the top economic force in the 21st century nor the USA’s greatest military challenge. Europe will.

This is starting to come to pass. Essentially, partially because of increasing Chinese economic and military influence, the USA is taking steps to expend so much energy preparing for military possibilities involving China that it will not be prepared for what is coming out of Europe. China and North Korea are affecting the USA, the world is watching, but the situation will not end up as much of the world or those in the USA believe that it will.
