Because of matters involving Michael Flynn, the term ‘Obamagate’ is once again in the news.

Washington Post’s Philip Rucker asked President Trump to define it at the White House coronavirus press conference:
Rucker: In one of your Mother’s Day tweets, you appeared to accuse President Obama of “the biggest political crime in American history, by far” — those were your words. What crime exactly are you accusing President Obama of committing, and do you believe the Justice Department should prosecute him?
Trump: Obamagate. It’s been going on for a long time. It’s been going on from before I even got elected, and it’s a disgrace that it happened, and if you look at what’s gone on, and if you look at now, all this information that’s being released — and from what I understand, that’s only the beginning — some terrible things happened, and it should never be allowed to happen in our country again. And you’ll be seeing what’s going on over the next, over the coming weeks but I, and I wish you’d write honestly about it but unfortunately you choose not to do so.
Rucker: What is the crime, exactly, that you’re accusing him of?

What started ‘Obamagate’?
On Friday, former US president Barack Obama expressed disquiet at the justice department dropping charges against Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was fired in early 2017 for lying about conversations with the Russian ambassador. On a recording obtained by Yahoo News, Obama warned that the “rule of law is at risk”. He also described Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as “an absolute chaotic disaster”.
So Trump took the moral high ground and kept a dignified silence?
Not quite. He spent Mother’s Day diving into the rightwing fever swamps and unleashing a barrage of tweets and retweets assailing his predecessor. One said simply “OBAMAGATE!” (the suffix “gate” is a frequently used play on the Watergate scandal that toppled President Richard Nixon).
Another linked to a post that declared, “Barack Hussain Obama is the first Ex-President to ever speak against his successor, which was long tradition of decorum and decency.” Trump added: “He got caught, OBAMAGATE!”
Got caught doing what, exactly?
Trump also retweeted Buck Sexton, a rightwing podcaster who asserted that “the outgoing president used his last weeks in office to target incoming officials and sabotage the new administration”. This term ‘Obamagate is NOT new. Actually, it was used by others in the past and reported here three years ago (see WikiLeaks releases more–what about Obamagate?) as well as once last year (see ‘WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Arrested in London;’ Plus Brexit extended).
There have been concerns about various actions undertaken during the Obama Administration.
The Bible warns the following:
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)
Thus it is of no surprise that there are ethical problems in these days. And this applies to both the current and previous presidents of the USA.
The Bible also teaches:
43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower (Deuteronomy 28:43).
12 … Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
Both Barack Obama and Donald Trump have had ethical and other improper issues.

Obrador charged that people in the Central Intelligence Agency, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration need to be investigated for potentially having cooperated with Genaro Garcia Luna, a former government official in Mexico who was arrested last year on drug trafficking and bribery counts.

Obama’s name is “beginning to creep up more and more when it comes to co-conspirators at the highest levels of his administration trying to take out President Donald Trump”
“With the stroke of a pen, Obama may have thought he stymied any real digging into the gun-running operation known as ‘Fast and Furious,’ but not so fast. So, it is not just Donald Trump who is concerned about past actions in the Obama Administration.
And then there was the international promotion of abortion, support of baby-selling Planned Parenthood, the near doubling of national debt, the disaster in Syria, and the bias towards taking Islamic refugees in the USA as opposed to those who professed Christianity under the Obama Administration.
Under Barack Obama’s Administration, between the IRS scandals (see Scandals in the US government), espionage scandals (see It’s not paranoia: The USA government is engaged in massive surveillance on its citizens and others; Germany applauds Snowden.), Benghazi (see Scandals in the US government), debt crisis (see USA ‘budget deal’ problems and ramifications), being repeatedly involved in military conflicts around the world, promoting violence in sports and entertainment (see Is American Football Evil?), exporting pornography (see Celebrity Porn: AOL Please Stop Featuring It and Entertainment has a growing pornography problem and British and American Moral Decay), trying to promote and fund abortion internationally (Obama’s First 100 Days), trying promoting homosexuality internationally (USA government promoting homosexual pride parades internationally and Corruption reportedly up worldwide; Obama’s immoral views denounced in Kenya), etc., the USA was not setting the right example.
Barack Obama’s Administration was not scandal-free.
Sadly, we have also seen many issues with the Donald Trump Administration–as well as the continued massive expansion of USA debt.
The point of this is post not to choose sides, but to basically point out that without national repentance (cf. Hosea 11:3a, 5b-7), the USA is doomed (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Habakkuk 2:6-8; Daniel 11:39).
And to remind all that political leaders are not the answer, but Jesus and the Kingdom of God are.
