PCG claims Donald Trump will make America great again, COGwriter disagrees as national repentance would be needed

Many evangelical Protestants and professing Christians believe that the US President-elect will, “Make America Great Again.”

PCG’s Trumpet.com website has the following:

December 26, 2024

Trump, Musk and Netanyahu are making the nation great again. As secular figures, they are not literally rededicating the temple of God. But they are creating the conditions for God’s work to thrive in America. Without their courage and fighting spirit, it would have been nearly impossible for God’s Church to deliver one final warning message to America and the world. The American resurgence won’t last long unless people turn to God in repentance, but the nation at least has a chance now that Obama has been silenced.

“The great God of the universe is taking an active, dramatic part in America’s politics!” Mr. Flurry wrote in his recent article “A Miracle Victory.” “God rules in the kingdom of men! That is the greatest lesson we can possibly learn!”

Americans should be truly grateful for the courage of Trump, Musk and Netanyahu; and even more grateful for God’s bondless mercy. https://www.thetrumpet.com/30693-what-the-feast-of-dedication-teaches-us-about-the-trump-administration

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed he would, “Make America great again” and that has been a campaign slogan he has long used.

Consider also two news item related to Donald Trump announcing that he would again run for the presidency of the USA:

November 16, 2022

Trump made the announcement, with political aides and supporters at his side, at his oceanside Mar-a-Lago retreat in the southern state of Florida, his wintertime home since he left Washington as his White House tenure ended in January of last year. …

Trump told his supporters Tuesday that when he left office, the country was “ready for its golden age.”

“But now we are a nation in decline,” Trump said. “We are a failing nation. For millions of Americans, the past two years under Joe Biden have been a time of pain, hardship, anxiety and despair.” https://www.voanews.com/a/trump-set-to-announce-third-presidential-campaign-/6835858.html

November 15, 2022

“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said to loud cheers by supporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach. …

“Soon we will be a great nation again.”

“I believe the American people will reject the left’s platform of national ruin and will embrace our platform of national greatness and glory.” https://www.wnd.com/2022/11/watch-trump-announcing-plans-2024/

No, Donald Trump, without national repentance, which is not expected and not something you ever called for, the USA is doomed.

It will take national repentance to make America great again.

Notice that lack of repentance is listed as a reason that the King of Assyria (the final King of the North) will become Israel and Ephraim’s king:

1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, … 3 I taught Ephraim to walk … 4 I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them …
5…But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. 6 And the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels. 7 My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him. (Hosea 11:1a, 3a, 4b, 5b-7)

The prophesied shame is starting to come upon the Anglo-American powers. The Assyrian king is also prophesied to eliminate the USA and many of its British-descended allies per Isaiah 10:5-12.

When Isaac’s son Jacob was older, God renamed him Israel (Genesis 32:28). When he was even older, he passed on his name and gave blessings to Joseph’s two sons:

11 And Israel said to Joseph, “I had not thought to see your face; but in fact, God has also shown me your offspring!” …

15 And he blessed Joseph, and said:

“God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has fed me all my life long to this day, 16 The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

17 Now when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; so he took hold of his father’s hand to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. 18 And Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”

19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”

20 So he blessed them that day, saying, “By you Israel will bless, saying, ‘May God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh!’ “

21 Then Israel said to Joseph, “… 22 Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and my bow.” (Genesis 48:11,15-22).

In Genesis 48, Jacob is clearly indicating that biblically one or both of the sons of Joseph could be referred to by the name Israel–and that would include the United States (which is also prophetically referred to as Samaria (see also Spiritual Samaritans: Old and New).

The US needs national repentance or it is doomed to be destroyed.

Below are some excerpts related to the claims to make America great again from my book that came out a day or two before Donald Trump took office the first time in 2017, Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse:

Like certain others, Donald Trump is helping to fulfill the following prophecy for the “last days”:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

Proud, boasters, lovers of themselves, and lovers of money. If you do not believe these terms help describe people like Donald Trump, notice something he stated publicly in 2016:

You know I get greedy I want money, money.

I’ll tell you what we’re going to do, right? We get greedy right? Now we’re going to get greedy for the United States we’re going to grab and grab and grab. We’re going to bring in so much money and so much everything. We’re going to make America great again, folks, I’m telling you folks we’re going to make America great again. …

You’re going to be proud of your president, and

you’re going to be even prouder of your country, OK?[i]

In terms of boasting and not coming “to the knowledge of truth,” consider something Donald Trump explained the day after he tweeted, “The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes”:

Let it be an arms race, because we will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all.[ii]

The above boast from Donald Trump is scripturally WRONG. The Bible shows that the power with the “strongest fortresses” will be defeated (Daniel 11:39). The USA will NOT “outlast them all.”

His brash and boastful statements have concerned many.

And as far as characteristics like being “blasphemers, unthankful, unholy,” one should not call oneself a Christian if one has not repented (cf. Acts 2:38) …

Donald Trump is greedy, prideful, and despite claiming to be a Christian, in 2015 he stated he never repented. The Bible teaches one needs to repent to be a Christian (Acts 2:38-39), “be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23), and that “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.”(Proverbs 16:18). The God of the Bible expects leaders to encourage repentance and moral behaviors when they are subject to destructive punishment (cf. Jonah 3:6-9). Donald Trump, like many other U.S. politicians, does not seem to believe that the U.S.A. needs to repent for its sins against God. Yet, without national repentance (Ezekiel 18:30-32; Hosea 7:14-16; 11:3-7), the U.S.A. is doomed for destruction (Isaiah 30:12-13; Daniel 11:39). …

Donald Trump will not ‘make America great again.’ His rise is dangerous for many reasons, but prophetically, one of them is that his rise has shown the Europeans that the USA is moving in a direction they do not like (cf. Daniel 11:39).

America, while having ups and downs, you will not be able to be make it great.

As far as PCG goes, it has a history of making wrong predictions about Donald Trump (e.g., see Despite being repeatedly wrong about Donald Trump, PCG claims Gerald Flurry was right).

Donald Trump will not stop the decline of the USA, though his recent statement about there only being two genders (see After threatening Panama, Donald Trump floats buying Greenland. He also declared that two genders would be the official US policy) was correct and refreshing. But he has also made other statements that are disturbing.

As far as predictions/warnings about Donald Trump, here is a list that I posted BEFORE HE TOOK OFFICE IN 2017 that were at least partially fulfilled:

  1. WARNING ONE: Donald Trump will offend the Europeans. FULFILLED–AND HE WILL AGAIN.
  2. WARNING TWO: Donald Trump’s election will be used to further push European unity. FULFILLED, THOUGH MORE STEPS ARE BEING TAKEN.
  3. WARNING THREE: Increased civil unrest will come to the USA. FULFILLED, BUT MORE EXPECTED.
  4. WARNING FOUR: The fourth warning was that Donald Trump’s rise would encourage the Europeans to arm: FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  5. WARNING FIVE: There is a fifth warning related to the fourth: Germany will want a stronger military. FULFILLED. FILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  6. WARNING SIX: Donald Trump’s views on climate change will cause problems with Europe. FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  7. WARNING SEVEN: Donald Trump will be one that is involved in fulfilling 2 Timothy 3:1-5. FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  8. WARNING EIGHT: Debt will increase under Donald Trump. FULFILLED, BUT MORE IS EXPECTED.
  9. WARNING NINE: Donald Trump may propose a peace deal consistent with Daniel 9:27. FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  10. WARNING TEN: Donald Trump would support aspects of ecumenical unity. FULFILLED.
  11. WARNING ELEVEN: People will call for Donald Trump’s impeachment. FULFILLED.
  12. WARNING TWELVE: Donald Trump would encourage the rise of the final King of the South of biblical prophecy–a power involving peoples in the Middle East and North Africa. FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  13. WARNING THIRTEEN: The rise of Donald Trump will confirm to various ones that the USA is in decline. FULFILLED.
  14. WARNING FOURTEEN: Daily sacrifices will one day resume in Jerusalem (cf. Daniel 9:27; 11:31). PARTIALLY FULFILLED–STEPS IN PROCESS  as on December 10, 2018 the Sanhedrin dedicated a new altar for the use of daily sacrifices. (Note: I did NOT post that the daily sacrifices would start during a Donald Trump Administration, only that they one day would need to start.)
  15. WARNING FIFTEEN: Donald Trump will support increased government surveillance. FULFILLED.
  16. WARNING SIXTEEN: Donald Trump’s Administration would focus too much on China and not consider the military threat that Europe poses. FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  17. WARNING SEVENTEEN: Donald Trump’s position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP) will assist China. FULFILLED–BUT SERIOUS FUTURE TRADE ISSUES WITH EUROPE ARE EXPECTED.
  18. WARNING EIGHTEEN: Mexico will look more towards Europe and less towards the USA on trade matters. AT LEAST PARTIALLY FULFILLED–THOUGH MORE STEPS WILL TAKE PLACE.
  19. WARNING NINETEEN: His attitudes toward GMOs. FULFILLED.
  20. WARNING TWENTY: The price of gold will hit record highs against the USA dollar. FULFILLED in July/August 2020–THOUGH OTHER RECORDS HAVE AND WILL TAKE PLACE.

Details related to the fulfillment of the above are in the article: Donald Trump in Prophecy.

For a 21st and 22nd item (as well as to show there were at least 20 items related to Donald Trump as number 14 and 20 are not directly related), it should be noted that I correctly wrote years ago that 1) The Great Tribulation would NOT begin in the first term of a Donald Trump Administration and 2) Armageddon would not start under the first term of a Donald Trump Administration (watch: Armageddon Will it come on Trump’s watch). There is also another warning to mention which happened while he was in the 45th President of the United States, and that is that there would be negative consequences for the US dollar because of Donald Trump’s sanctions policies (watch from 2018: US Sanctions and Tariffs leading to New World Order?; watch from 2024: SWIFT end to the US dollar?).

PCG’s Gerald Flurry was wrong about Donald Trump. I was not. I denounced his view that Donald Trump was Jeroboam on this page back on March 3, 2017 (see PCG: Donald Trump is a modern Jeroboam and will be destroyed; Gerald Flurry also claims to be a type of the prophet Amos and that J. Tkach is a modern Amaziah).

PCG’s Gerald Flurry was also proven wrong about Amos 7. I have claimed that for years and was shown to be right by May 1, 2021.

While Christians should heed true prophets and not despise prophecies (1 Thessalonians 5:20), PCG’s Gerald Flurry has again been proven to have spoken presumptuously.

Insisting that Donald Trump would be in office in 2021, then being certain that Donald Trump would get in office before the November 5, 2024 election, and also asserting that half of the Laodiceans would be dead by the end of April 2021, proves to anyone interested in the TRUTH that Gerald Flurry is a false prophet. I told people prior to the November 5, 2024 election that I thought that Donald Trump would win. So, Gerald Flurry and I were right about that, but I was not wrong on the other Donald Trump matters, plus over 20 warnings/predictions I made about him and his presidency have been at least partially confirmed by world events.

He and PCG remain wrong in their view of Amos 7 and many other matters (see Teachings Unique to the Philadelphia Church of God).

Those who have enough of “the love of the truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:10) should clearly be able to see that Gerald Flurry is NOT God’s prophet, but a false one.

People associated with PCG should believe the Bible about false prophets as Gerald Flurry has clearly made false predictions.

Gerald Flurry has been proven false about his predictions about Donald Trump before as well as Amos 7.

Now, consider also that TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT!

The existence of false prophets does NOT excuse not supporting a real one.

Consider that the Book of Proverbs warns:

16 The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly. (Proverbs 26:16)

Now, most end time Christians do not believe that they are lazy, but wise.

Yet, they overlook evidence because they are uncomfortable with the idea that there could now be a prophet that they should heed.

It is NOT safer to reject a true prophet because there are many false ones.

More details on that are in the article: 21st Century Church of God Prophets.

The United States needs God and true repentance to become “great” again.

And, Donald Trump has never proposed that.

Furthermore, the Bible warns:

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

While not all that Donald Trump promotes is evil, and some of it is good, his lack of personal repentance and not understanding biblical prophecy will help lead the US to its end.

The Psalmist wrote:

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. (Psalm 146:3)

Yet, many are trusting too much in Donald Trump.

Those who wish to following God should trust God:

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.  (Proverbs 3:5-7)

Yes, God can make your life great.

Trust Him.
