President Trump invited Boris Johnson to the White House for a visit next month … according to a report on Sunday.
“Some potential dates have been floated in mid-January but nothing has yet been formally agreed. But it is clear that both sides want to make it happen sometime in early 2020,” a White House source told the Sunday Times of London.
Johnson’s Conservative Party won a majority of seats in the British elections earlier this month, paving the way for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the EU on Jan. 31.
Following the vote, Johnson said his government has a “powerful new mandate to get Brexit done and not just to get Brexit done but to unite this country and to take it forward.”
Trump lauded Johnson for his election victory, saying it opened up the possibility of a trade deal between the two countries.
“Congratulations to Boris Johnson on his great WIN! Britain and the United States will now be free to strike a massive new Trade Deal after BREXIT,” Trump wrote on Dec. 13. “This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the E.U. Celebrate Boris!”

Because the UK is still in the European Union and members of the EU are not supposed to negotiate trade deals apart from the EU, Boris Johnson may decide that telephone contact is best for a time. But yes, I expect him to try to make a trade deal with the USA.

The first indication of a revival in relations between Washington and London came when Mr Trump was one of the first world leaders to congratulate Mr Johnson on his historic win — he secured the largest Conservative majority since Mrs Thatcher’s third election victory in 1987 — and immediately promised to strike a “massive” new trade deal with the UK post-Brexit. The US president said a future US-UK trade agreement has “the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative” than any deal that could have been made with the EU.
Indeed, with Mr Johnson assured of being Britain’s prime minister for the next five years, and Mr Trump well-placed to secure re-election in next year’s presidential election contest, there is every prospect that the two leaders could herald a new golden era of transatlantic relations not seen since the alliance of Mrs Thatcher and US President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s.
There will, of course, be numerous political obstacles that will have to be overcome regarding issues where the two men have opposing views, such as the controversial nuclear deal with Iran. While Mr Trump is determined to pressure Tehran with punitive economic sanctions, Mr Johnson still remains committed to working with other European powers, such as France and Germany, to save the nuclear deal.
Yet, compared with the calamitous impact a victory for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, whose politics is defined by his visceral anti-Americanism, would have had on transatlantic relations, Mr Johnson’s return to Downing Street will have been greeted with enormous relief in the White House, as it means Washington now has a firm ally in London, someone who is committed to breathing new life into the vital and long-standing partnership between Britain and America. https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15310/boris-johnson-us-uk-relations
The idea of post-Brexit trade between the USA and UK is something regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God news page are aware has been expected.
For one example, back in March of 2017, I posted the following:

With what has been going on in the UK, the EU, and the USA since the Brexit vote, more in the UK are concluding that the EU wants to be an empire.
The EU has taken several stances that the UK does not like, including stances that the EU used to pretend it did not really have. Glimpses of the true colors of the European project (e.g. Daniel 2:41-43; Isaiah 10:5-8) have re-assured many (though not all) in the UK that leaving the EU is in its best interest.
Back in 2008, I posted:
In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. …
However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.
Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.
The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).
The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. (Thiel B. A Combined EU & North American Trade Block Coming? COGwriter.com, March 3, 2008)
The UK and much of the world has adopted EU standards on aspects of trade since I posted that. As far as Europe and Mexico go, in 2018 we saw EU and Mexico making a trade deal, partially to send Donald Trump a message. As far as the economic bulk of Latin America goes, in 2019 we saw major steps for this (see EU’s Juncker essentially verified accuracy of 2008 COGwriter prediction on trade).
Now, we are seeing the UK more interested in trade with the USA.
Although he had various timing errors, in 1956, the late Pastor General of the old Radio, then Worldwide, Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, put forth his views about the UK and Europe:
Most Europeans are becoming distrustful of the United States. They wonder why we had the Marshall Plan. WHY are we so beneficent? WHY are we sending them so much money? They can’t understand altruism and generosity. They suspect ulterior motives. They are thinking more and more about the coming UNITED STATES OF EUROPE!
We Americans, with the British, gave them the idea. We’ve tried to organize the European nations together against Russia. They are going to unite against us! And now Europe is about ready for it! The stage is all set! All that’s lacking now is the strong LEADER—the coming FUEHRER! The Germans are coming back from the destruction of World War II in breath-taking manner. Germany is the economic and military heart of Europe. Probably Germany will lead and dominate the coming United States of Europe.
But Britain will be no part of it! This astounding resurrection of the ROMAN EMPIRE is … prophesied! (Armstrong HW. 1975 in Prophecy! 1956, pp. 4-5)

Well, LISTEN, and LISTEN CAREFULLY! Because these very Nazi plans which have leaked out from underground and have been published were known to God Almighty and recorded by Him in His prophecies 2,500 years ago!
You’ll find this prophesied in Daniel 2 and 7, and more specifically in the 17th chapter of Revelation,- a UNITED STATES OF Europe—a flash in-the-pan resurrection of the ancient ROMAN EMPIRE!
It will possess greater military might by far than the Rome of old, but it will also inherit fatal weaknesses. Prophecy symbolizes this admixture of never equalled military might and unprecedented weakness with the apt phrase, “iron mixed with miry clay.” The European nations will unite militarily—but they are suspicious and envious of each other—they hate one another. …
When this United States of Europe emerges, they will have the hydrogen bomb, and the guided missiles to project it with pin-point accuracy on every vital American and British production center!

I, too, long stated that the UK would leave Europe (as far back as around 1992 when the UK was part of the European Economic Community, which later became the European Union). And, not only has the UK voted to do so, we also see that the Balkan nations stopped being behind the Iron Curtain decades ago.
Increasing trade between the USA and UK will provide a certain prosperity and wealth. The prospects of trade with the USA as well as the current and former Commonwealth nations, may be factors in Boris Johnson taking a harder stance with the Europeans than the EU wants.
Yet, the USA and its British-descended allies will face severe troubles prior to the start of the Great Tribulation:
8 … And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)
7 … And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8)
While the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will all be affected by the “beginning of sorrows” there will be wealth in those lands when they are taken over (which happens in Matthew 24:21 consistent with Daniel 8:24-25, 11:24, 11:39).
Consider the following prophecies:
23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,
When the transgressors have reached their fullness,
A king shall arise,
Having fierce features,
Who understands sinister schemes.
24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people.25 “Through his cunning
He shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule;
And he shall exalt himself in his heart.
He shall destroy many in their prosperity.
He shall even rise against the Prince of princes;
But he shall be broken without human means. (Daniel 8:23-25)
A crafty leader is prophesied to arise, and he will destroy “the mighty” and “many in their prosperity,” but ultimately he will be destroyed by the returning Jesus.
This is a European leader. And these prophecies are consistent with others.
The Bible shows that Europe will have problems, reorganize (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?), and ultimately be destroyed:
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold — the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure. (Daniel 2:41-45)
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12-14)
Notice more about what the European leader (the King of the North of Daniel 11) will do:
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24)
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. 40 “At the time of the end king of the North … (Daniel 11:39-40)
Notice that this leader will do what others had not done. Adolf Hitler, for a recent example, was NOT able to plunder the riches of the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand.
But this final European leader will. And to tie this in with the destruction of the mighty in Daniel 8:2-5, notice that he will “devise his plans against the strongholds” (Daniel 11:24) and defeat the power with “the strongest fortresses” (Daniel 11:39), which is the USA along with its British-descended allies (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
Anyway, from these prophesies we see that the UK and USA (and their British-descended allies) will have some type of wealth and prosperity when they are taken over. This, however, will come after troubles like famines and pestilences.
Trade between the USA and UK look to be a factor in some of the prosperity.
But such prosperity will not last.
World events are moving towards the fulfillment of many biblical prophecies.
