Chinese researchers want to send more than 20 of China’s largest rockets to practice turning away a sizable asteroid – a technique that may eventually be crucial if a killer rock is on a collision course with Earth.
The idea is more than science fiction. Sometime between late 2021 to early 2022, the United States will launch a robotic spacecraft to intercept two asteroids relatively close to Earth.
When it arrives a year later, the NASA spacecraft will crash-land on the smaller of the two rocky bodies to see how much the asteroid’s trajectory changes. It will be humanity’s first try at changing the course of a celestial body.
At China’s National Space Science Center, researchers found in simulations that 23 Long March 5 rockets hitting simultaneously could deflect a large asteroid from its original path by a distance 1.4 times the Earth’s radius.

On the 9th of September, an asteroid called 2006QV89 will come perilously close to our planet and could even smash into us. At 40 metres wide, the object is not big enough to destroy humanity or even kill large numbers of people.
It’s about twice as large as the 20 metres object which exploded in the skies over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in 2013. The ‘airburst’ caused by this detonating meteorite left about 400 people injured, with most wounds caused by shards of flying glass from windows smashed by the shockwave.
If 2006QV89 exploded over a big city like London or New York, the damage could be much greater, although we’re still only talking about a relatively small number of deaths in the very worst case scenario. …
Pastor Paul Begley, a preacher with a record of predicting apocalypses which never happen, published an unintentionally hilarious YouTube video in which he screamed ‘asteroids, ASTEROIDS’ and made the following statement: ‘The danger of deep, deep impact is certainly before us. ‘The Book of Revelation tells us we’re going to have at least two deep impacts in these end times, the first hitting the sea and killing a third of people on the land.’ Happily, we can report 2006QV89 is way too small to threaten the survival of our species so the end times will have to wait. 06/06/19 https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/06/asteroid-big-statue-liberty-hit-earth-year-9839755/?ito=cbshare
Before going further, it should be pointed out that Paul Begley has a history of making false predictions (e.g. see End of the world prophecy: Why Jerusalem Third Temple is NOT a {required} sign of Great Tribulation and ‘Blood Moon prophecy 2019: Is the Super Blood Moon a portent of DOOM?’). And I denounced him for that prediction as well. And, of course, Asteroid Bennu has not yet collided with the Earth.

The space rock is currently the target of NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission which is intended to return samples to Earth in 2023, which will help researchers determine its possible outcome.

No, Asteroid Bennu is NOT the most dangerous outer-space ‘rock’ unless it somehow were to hit about 150 years or so before it is projected to be near the Earth.
The Bible shows that a couple of years or so after the start of the Great Tribulation, the Earth will be hit hard by something from outer-space called Wormwood.
Over 1900 years ago, the Apostle John was inspired to write about Wormwood and more in the Book of Revelation. If you look at the sequence of events that proceed Wormwood, it is obvious that other events will happen first. Notice that the first nine verses happen prior to Wormwood falling from heaven:
1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
6 So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. (Revelation 8:1-9)
So after the above, notice that something from outer-space is to hit:
10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter. (Revelation 8:10-11)
Notice that Wormwood does not fall until after the third trumpet associated with the seventh seal of Revelation is blown. Well, this would mean that the fifth and sixth seal would also have already been opened–which are mentioned in Revelation 6:7-17, and the 144,000 numbered as shown in Revelation 7. And I should add that the fifth seal of Revelation cannot possibly be opened for at least 3 1/2 years from now (see When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?), with almost 4 1/2 years the likely minimum.
But also notice that somehow Wormwood makes water bitter.
This could be because it is a comet as opposed to an asteroid. Comets tend to come with cyanogen gas–when that mixes with water to form hydrogen cyanide, it has an almond odor and bitter taste.
However, that does not mean that Wormwood could not be an asteroid. Some asteroids are bound to have substances that would be bitter in water.
If Wormwood is a type of asteroid, then massive devastation via an asteroid will come to pass. But not today as Paul Begley had suggested.
Chinese rockets, while they may impact some asteroids, will not stop Wormwood from hitting.
Nor does “Armageddon” have to do with asteroids per se, Armageddon is a place of gathering of the armies of the world in the last days (per Revelation 16:12-16; see also Armageddon).
So, why mention any of this?
Because, properly understood biblical prophecies are coming to pass. Human military efforts will NOT prevent them from being fulfilled.
But because of false predictions throughout history, many have grown weary and will likely discount the fulfillment of various prophecies until it is too late.
Sadly, this will happen to the bulk of true Christians in the end times (for some details, see also The Laodicean Church Era).
By denouncing false and heretical prophetic teachers BEFORE their predictions are shown to be in error, we in the Continuing Church of God continue to establish a reliable track record of proper prophetic interpretation.
