Rick Perry, the former Texas governor, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president on Thursday. …

Out of elected office for the first time in three decades, Mr. Perry has the freedom to put in extensive time campaigning in the early nominating states. And he is doing just that. Most important for him is Iowa, which he has visited 15 times since the start of 2013. If Mr. Perry is to become a viable candidate, he will do so by winning a second chance there, where he received only 10 percent of the vote in the 2012 caucuses. Rick Perry had a lot of confidence he would get the Republican nomination in 2012, but that confidence was misplaced.

Here are the issues he raised from his website:

Economic Growth

We need to grow the economy, so that every American can find work, and that those who already have work can earn more.

Lower Taxes

We need to make life more affordable, by helping Americans keep more of what they earn, and by lowering the cost of everyday expenses.

Eliminate Debt

We need to retire the federal debt, in order to protect the safety net for the most vulnerable, and to ensure that our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren can enjoy the prosperity, security, and freedom that we have promised them.

National Security

We need to make America safer and stronger by rebuilding our military, and working with our allies to promote peace, prosperity, and tolerance around the world. The federal government also needs to do its constitutional duty and secure the border once and for all.

Stop Special Interests & Big Government

We need to end the culture of cronyism and bailouts, a culture that caters to politically- connected people and politically-connected businesses at the expense of small enterprises and average Americans. https://rickperry.org/issues

While having the intention to eliminate debt is a good one, biblically it will not happen per Habakkuk 2:6-8. Republicans will not be able to fix the problems that the USA has. Neither will the Democrats.

No candidate that has been proposed that I am aware of has laid out any serious plan to reverse abortion policies or the homosexual agenda, despite some comments about their personal views of these issues. The mainstream media would object loudly if they thought any really could outlaw abortions or reverse homosexual marriages–and the media would be relentless.

The USA needs national repentance, otherwise it is doomed. It is almost impossible to believe that the next USA president would call for meaningful repentance before the USA is hit with more massive problems. The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
