CHICAGO – Chicago protesters breached a security fence outside the United Center on Monday as thousands inside prepared for the first night of the Democratic National Convention.
Protesters broke through a portion of the security fence on West Washington Boulevard. Chicago cops could be seen running to confront the demonstrators. There was a brief standoff between the police and protesters.
Officers donned riot gear as they faced off with the large crowd. Four protesters were arrested, according to Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling. A woman was seen being led away in handcuffs, while a man was carried away by several officers. …
The following statement can be attributed to the DNC Joint Information Center:
“Demonstrators breached a portion of anti-scale fencing along the Democratic National Convention’s outer perimeter near the United Center on Aug. 19. Law enforcement personnel were immediately on-scene and contained the situation. At no point was the inner perimeter breached, and there was no threat to any protectees.
The National Special Security Event plan employs a multi-layered approach. Each NSSE plan is unique and includes multiple layers. One of these redundancies include the outer perimeter fence, which was erected to prevent entry into the inner perimeter.

President Joe Biden, forced to abandon his reelection bid, will urge fellow Democrats at their national convention on Monday to unite behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the fight for the White House against Republican rival Donald Trump.
While Democrats gathered at United Center, home to Chicago’s basketball and hockey teams, hundreds of protesters assembled at a nearby park to pressure the party to drop military support for Israel’s Gaza offensive.
Biden’s appearance at the start of the four-day event will serve as a symbolic passing of the torch to his No. 2 after he quit the race under pressure from top Democrats worried that the 81-year-old incumbent was too old to win or serve another four years. …
Pro-Palestinian protests injected a note of uncertainty into what is otherwise likely to be a week of celebration while some on the party’s left flank remain angered over the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. …
“The Democrats are the ones in power,” said Hatem Abudayyeh, a spokesperson for a rally that drew hundreds of participants. “It’s their war. They’re responsible for it, they’re complicit and they can stop it.”
The protesters appeared unlikely to pressure Democrats to change. The party was due to vote on Monday on a 92-page policy platform that does not call for an arms embargo against Israel, a demand of pro-Palestinian groups. That said, the protests will please Iran–even if the government there would prefer Kamala Harris to Donald Trump.
A couple of months back, Iran’s Supreme leader repeated a common protest slogan, again pushed to overthrow the government of Israel, and praised the pro-Palestinian protesters in the USA:

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei met Wednesday with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who visited Tehran as the Palestinian terror organization’s representative at the funeral for Iran’s president Ebrahaim Raisi after he died in a helicopter crash.
“The divine promise to eliminate the Zionist entity will be fulfilled and we will see the day when Palestine will rise from the river to the sea,” Khamenei told Haniyeh during a meeting at his office.
The Hamas politburo chief responded: “God willing we will see that day together.”
The Iranian leader also commented on the anti-Israel protests that pro-Palestinian students are holding on university campuses in the United States and elsewhere.
“Who would have believed that one day, slogans in support of Palestine would be raised in US universities and that the flag of Palestine would be raised there? So, Iran’s Supreme Leader has been at least pleasantly surprised about the pro-Palestinian protests across universities in the USA as well as in Japan.
Hamas is pleased with that as well, as it has always called for the elimination of the nation of Israel.

Hamas and Iran want Israel gone—though that does not mean that they will not be open to some type of a temporary or timed withdrawal or peace deal. And a TEMPORARY one will come according to the Bible:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
But, again, the deal will be temporary. The “one week” above has been understand to be a seven-year confirmation, but the fact that it will be broken in the middle shows it will basically only have a 3 1/2 year confirmation.
That said, expect more protests this week in Chicago.
