Germany has become the antithesis to Trump’s America …
Trump is openly calling for the European Union to split up. He is publicly encouraging the new British prime minister, Boris Johnson, to embark on a hard Brexit. Trump’s national security adviser, John Bolton, traveled to London last week to communicate that the U.S. would “enthusiastically” support a decision by the UK to leave the EU with no deal.
Trump has shaken the relationship between the Germans and the Americans in ways that extend far beyond politics. The U.S. is more unpopular with Germans than ever before. … says Sigmar Gabriel, the new head of Atlantik-Brücke. “Many now see the U.S. as a bigger problem than China and Russia.” …
From a German perspective, conversations with the president are mostly just seen as futile. …
Trump has become a convenient excuse for the Germans. Whatever he says is rejected almost reflexively.

The photograph at the beginning of this post came up at Pixabay when I did a photo search for “German-American.” It seemed fitting in view of what Der Spiegel reported.
As far as WHY TRUMP IS PRESIDENT? goes, back in July 2016, I told someone from the Midwest who did not think that Donald Trump could be the next president of the US that he could because of how he would upset the Germans and other Europeans.
Now, notice more related to Sigmar Gabriel:

Gabriel said Germans are wrong to blame Trump alone for the shift in the transatlantic relationship, arguing that the roots run much deeper. After the Cold War, it was inevitable that the U.S. would at some point begin to shift its attention to other priorities, such as China.
“Now we have an American president who says things can’t continue in the same way they’ve been for the past 70 years, but we could have figured that out earlier,” he said. …
Gabriel sought the endorsement of U.S. Ambassador Richard Grenell during his run for the Atlantik Brücke post but was rebuffed. The two haven’t spoken since. Last week, Gabriel suggested Grenell is ill-suited for the role as ambassador …

One problem is that Germans, like Sigmar Gabriel, consider that Germany is equal to the USA but Donald Trump does not see it that way. The Germans find that insulting and appalling and are working to take steps now.

Therefore, Berlin should eventually even be “in command” of the operation. Germany wants to be involved in the Persian Gulf, but basically run a European naval program independent of the USA as Germany and the EU have different objectives than the USA.
What about Sigmar Gabriel’s interest in Russia?
Consider that back in 1962 something that the old Radio Church of God published:

Once a German-dominated Europe is fully established, Germany will be ready to negotiate and bargain with Russia- and behind the backs of the Western Allies if necessary. …
When will a Russo-German deal be made? Yes, I, too, expect that Russia will make a deal with the Europeans.
A while back, a Russian Professor forecasted that Russia would end up with Alaska:

It is certainly possible that if Russia makes a deal with the rising European Beast power that it may end up with Alaska.
Notice the following prophecy:
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain (Daniel 11:39).
The “he” is the European King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:40) and the “strongest fortresses” currently belong to the USA–this shows the defeat of the US by Europe. Since Bible prophecy points to Anglo-lands being divided in various scriptures (for more than Daniel 11:39, see Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?), Russia may well end up with some of all of Alaska and maybe even parts of Canada.
People do not realize who perturbed the Germans are getting with the USA. And this will not end well for the USA (Daniel 11:39) nor Germany (cf. Isaiah 10:12-19).
