Trump inquisition changing with House impeachment rule vote

The famous Spanish Inquisition was basically conducted behind closed doors and based on a lot of biased and hear-say materials.

In the USA, that type of thing is not supposed to happen.

Wikipedia has the following:

The Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right…to be confronted with the witnesses against him.” Generally, the right is to have a face-to-face confrontation with witnesses who are offering testimonial evidence against the accused in the form of cross-examination during a trial. The Fourteenth Amendment makes the right to confrontation applicable to the states and not just the federal government. The right only applies to criminal prosecutions, not civil cases or other proceedings.

The Confrontation Clause has its roots in both English common law, protecting the right of cross-examination, and Roman law, which guaranteed persons accused of a crime the right to look their accusers in the eye. In noting the right’s long history, the United States Supreme Court has cited Acts of the Apostles 25:16, which reports the Roman governor Porcius Festus, discussing the proper treatment of his prisoner Paul: “It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man up to die before the accused has met his accusers face-to-face, and has been given a chance to defend himself against the charges.” It is also cited in Shakespeare’s Richard II, Blackstone‘s treatises, and statutes. It is interesting that scripture has been cited to back up the right to face accusers.

And while courts have tended to consider this clause is only applicable for criminal prosecutions, in the USA, presidents are only supposed to be impeached for what sounds a lot like crimes. Notice Section 4 of Article Two of the United States Constitution:

“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

Today there was a vote in the House of Representatives related to having a controlled, but somewhat more open, impeachment investigation:

The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives voted Thursday to authorize a public impeachment inquiry targeting President Donald Trump after weeks of testimony behind closed doors about his efforts to push Ukraine to investigate his political opponents.

The vote was along party lines, 232-196 for the impeachment inquiry, with all Republicans against the resolution and two Democratic defectors joining them.

Immediately after the vote, Trump called the impeachment inquiry, “The Greatest Witch Hunt In American History!” in a tweet.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham issued a statement saying the president “has done nothing wrong” and calling the process “unfair, unconstitutional, and fundamentally un-American.”

“Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats’ unhinged obsession with this illegitimate impeachment proceeding does not hurt President Trump; it hurts the American people,” she said.

House Speaker Pelosi had long opposed opening an impeachment inquiry, but has turned sharply against Trump and called for passage of the impeachment rules. As debate opened Thursday, she said “nobody” comes to Congress to impeach a president, “unless his actions are jeopardizing us honoring our oath of office.”

“Sadly, this is not any cause for any glee or comfort,” she said. “This is something that is very solemn.”

Republicans had for weeks demanded that the majority Democrats hold a vote to authorize the impeachment probe against the Republican president, but as the vote neared they attacked it as an attempt to justify what they contend are sham hearings that have already been held. https://www.voanews.com/usa/impeachment-inquiry/us-house-votes-formally-open-impeachment-inquiry-targeting-trump

Although the House of Representatives have been looking into impeachment against Donald Trump for some time, and somewhat officially opened up an impeachment inquiry (without a vote taking place) against him about five weeks ago (see Donald Trump impeachment and USA hypocrisy), until the rules in today’s vote Republican members of the House, in many ways, were not allowed to be directly involved with the impeachment inquiry. Nor has Donald Trump had the right to face his accusers (or even know who one or more are).

Some believe that Democrat Adam Schiff (who has been leading a lot of the behind closed door investigations) has been essentially coaching witnesses in order to get the type of testimony that he wants. Notice the following:

Rep. Devin Nunes accused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of “coaching” the witness during Tuesday’s closed-door deposition.

Nunes, the top Republican on the panel, told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Democrats reached a new low in the impeachment fight when Schiff “continually” interrupted his GOP colleagues as they tried to question Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman.

“They’ve been bad at most of these depositions, but to interrupt us continually to coach the witness, to decide … what we’re going to be able to ask the witness,” the California Republican said.

In another swipe at Schiff, Nunes said his Democratic counterpart is “very good at coaching witnesses.” He added that Schiff has “met” the whistleblower, although it has only been reported the whistleblower met with a House Intelligence Committee aide seeking guidance before filing a complaint, and Schiff knew about it but never informed his GOP colleagues. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/devin-nunes-accuses-adam-schiff-of-coaching-trump-impeachment-witness

That reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition as it certainly was not impartial.

Presuming that Adam Schiff is not impartial (and there is a lot of evidence that he is not), this is further showing a violation of the US Constitution:

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

Now those in favor of impeachment are claiming that their intent is to protect the US Constitution. Well, the way they have gone about it so far shows an unwillingness to go along with the intent of various parts of it.

What is going on is far from impartial. It is hypocritical.

The KJV has the following warning:

5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. (Isaiah 10:5-6)

The above prophecy involves a German-dominated Europe being used by God to punish the USA (more details about why that is so are in the articles Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy and Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

A place called “an hypocritical nation” (or “ungodly nation” or “profane nation” as some other translations render it) is the one getting punished.

Now consider that Donald Trump was investigated for obstruction of justice related to collusion. He was not found guilty of collusion. While a case for obstruction can be made, many seem to forget that president, Bill Clinton lied to the American people, lied to Congress, and interfered with one or more witnesses regarding his sexual improprieties–he was clearly guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice. Impeachment proceedings were began, and approved, in the House of Representatives. However, all of the Democrats in the Senate (and some Republicans) voted for acquittal on both the perjury and the obstruction of justice charges, despite Bill Clinton being guilty.

Notice what Nancy Pelosi said about the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton in 1998:

“We are here today because the Republicans in the House are paralyzed with hatred of President Clinton, and until the Republicans free themselves of that hatred our country will suffer”

The USA has been suffering from statements from Donald Trump, as well as investigations of Donald Trump, the past few years. The current impeachment inquiries are mainly about hate and politics.

And the way the “investigations” have been conducted seem to be more like an inquisition.

For two years, Donald Trump was subject to a special counsel investigation for colluding with the Russians. He was not found to be guilty of that. There is much greater evidence that Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation were guilty of peddling foreign influence, but thus far that has been dismissed by the media and many politicians. For the past couple of years, we have seen the media decrying what it calls Russian interference in the USA election process. But the USA has a history of trying to interfere with elections and governments around the world. More hypocrisy.

As far as calls for Donald Trump’s impeachment, notice something I had published a day or so before he took office:

There are issues with what Donald Trump says when he speaks. I expect people will call for his impeachment. (Thiel B. Donald Trump and America’s Apocalypse. Nazarene Books, 2017, p. 41)

That being said, Donald Trump has said and done many inappropriate things that no morally-thinking person would defend. Nor would I characterize his telephone conversation with the Ukrainian President as “perfect” like Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed.

A major problem, however, is that many politicians, pundits, and others have less interest in the truth and more interest in pushing political goals than they should.

National repentance is needed.

The Bible shows that the power with the strongest military (which currently is the USA) will be taken over by a European power according to Daniel 11:39 (for more details, see USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

The Book of Isaiah indicates that hypocrisy (and/or acting ungodly) will be part of the reason why.

While political hypocrisy is a problem around the world, in the past several years the blatantness of it is becoming more and more obvious in the USA.

It is so blatant that hopefully more can now see that the prophecy for destruction related to “a hypocritical nation” is a reference to the USA.

While your nation probably will not repent (American or otherwise), you can.

Do not wait until it is too late (cf. Acts 17:30; Zephaniah 2:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:3).
