TW: Europe to Buy Greece?
Greek 2 Euro Coin Shows Europa Riding the Beast
In yesterday’s TW News & Prophecy, the Living Church of God reported:
Will Europe own Greece?
With the financial crisis weighing heavily on Greece, creditor nations are now discussing the issue of obtaining collateral for money they loan Greece–in the event that Greece proves unable to pay back any loans. Such collateral could include Greek real estate or shares in state assets such as utility companies. In fact, some have suggested the Greeks could sell some of their islands or even the Acropolis. Although no “deals” have yet to be agreed upon, given Greece’s forecasted inability to repay much of its mounting debt, other nations in Europe could wind up owning much of Greece (www.euractiv.com, August 29, 2011).
Long ago, God prophesied that at the end of the age, ten kings would give “their power and authority to” a European beast power (Revelation 17:7-13). While the Bible does not state exactly how this will occur, events across Europe are beginning to suggest ways in which “power and authority” might be given or surrendered to a central political power. If lending nations begin to demand collateral in assets in exchange for loans to handle the debt crisis, this would set a powerful and sobering precedent, not only for Europe, but also for the entire world–especially Israelite countries–because the borrower becomes a servant to the lender (see Deuteronomy 28:44; Proverbs 22:7).

I always have found it fascinating since I first saw a Greek 2 Euro coin with an immodest woman, who is supposed to represent the nymph Europa (from whom Europe got its name) riding a beast. And while that story comes from Greek mythology, the Bible mentions the following related to Europe:
3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits…18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:3-9,18)
Most theological scholars, including Catholic ones, believe that the city of seven mountains (hills in some translations) represent Rome.
The fact that not only on the Greek coin, but also in front of the EU Council of Ministers Office in Brussels, Belgium there is a large statue of an immodest female Europa on a beast. This shows that the European Union is not ashamed of its ties to these scriptures. Years ago, a Larry Blake sent me several pictures of the woman (Europa) riding the bull (a beast) as symbols of European Union which are linked for additional proof of these ties.
The Bible itself shows that Europe must be restructured (Revelation 17:12-13)–but that particular restructure that Revelation refers to is probably not going to happen for several years. As a major founder of historic Europe, Greece has often been of interest to those intent on forming a European Empire.
However, to get to that point of a final strong empire, there likely will be a variety of changes in what the EU is and how it is supposed to work. While Europe will always have fragility issues per Daniel 2:42-43, it will also be much more unified than it is today–as it would seem to have to be to fulfill certain aspects of Bible prophecy.
