Hamas Goes to Cairo to Consider Egyptian Peace Proposal
December 29, 2023
A delegation of high-level Hamas officials is expected in Cairo on Friday, where they will consider an Egyptian peace proposal designed to bring an end to the war between Hamas and Israel.
The Egyptian three-phase peace plan calls for the release of Hamas hostages taken on October 7, when Hamas launched its attack on Israel, and the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel; observation of a cease-fire that would end the war; and establishment of a Palestinian government of technocrats responsible for administering a postwar Gaza.
Hamas and the Islamic Jihad have had access to the proposal since last week, reports say. Islamic Jihad is also fighting Israel.
Israel’s military continued airstrikes and ground operations aimed at Hamas in northern, central and southern Gaza on Friday. https://www.voanews.com/a/hamas-goes-to-cairo-to-consider-egyptian-peace-proposal/7417104.html
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad reportedly rejected the Egyptian proposal several days ago (see https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hamas-islamic-jihad-reject-giving-up-power-return-permanent-ceasefire-egyptian-2023-12-25/), but now seem more willing to look at it.
Lie Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, is also an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Related to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put out the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:
Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood
What are the goals of Hamas? What are its ties to the Muslim Brotherhood? Do they have the same end goal? Nadia Matar reported that the Palestinian Authority once waved flags that said, when translated into English, “On Saturdays, we will murder the Jews,” she said. “On Sundays, we will murder the Christians.” Do many Muslims intend to dominate much of the world? Does the Muslim Brotherhood want dominance from Spain to Indonesia? Do they and others in Islam look forward to a time when a caliphate will be ruled by one called the Imam Mahdi? Does this leader have any characteristics that are similar to the prophesied King of the South of Daniel 11? Is this leader supposed to arrive after a period of chaos according to Islamic hadiths? Does that sound similar to what is coming after the beginning of sorrows, that Jesus spoke of in the 24th chapter of Matthew as well as after the start of the rides of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse of Revelation 6:1-8? Is the rise of a leader who will lead a pan-national Islamic confederation something that Christians should watch for? Dr. Thiel and Steve Dupuie address those topics in this video.

As far as “peace” in the region goes, consider that Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Abdullah Shallah said:
There is no possibility today of a two-state solution. That idea is dead. …
I will never, under any conditions, accept the existence of the state of Israel. … the one-state solution is better than the two-state solution. (Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Wikipedia, accessed 12/29/23)
Notice, also, something from one of Hamas’ official founding documents:
THE COVENANT OF THE HAMAS – MAIN POINTS . . .
Goals of the HAMAS:
——————
‘The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.’ (Article 6)On the Destruction of Israel:
—————————–
‘Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.’ (Preamble)
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad want Israel gone—though that does not mean that they will not be open to some type of a temporary or timed withdrawal or peace deal. And a TEMPORARY one will come according to the Bible:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
But, again, the deal will be temporary. The “one week” above has been understand to be a seven-year confirmation, but the fact that it will be broken in the middle shows it will basically only have a 3 1/2 year confirmation.
That said, understand that when various ones chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” that means that they want the area from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean Sea to be Palestinian and not Israeli. Those in the West Bank as well as those in Gaza basically want an end to Jewish dominance in the land.
So, while they do not want permanent peace with Israel, those of groups like Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad will one day, according to the Bible, accept a temporary deal.
And the confirmation of that deal by one who the Bible calls a “prince” will, in a sense, set of the final clock to the countdown to the start of the Great Tribulation and then the return of Jesus.
