Here’s How Trump, Biden Differ on Key Issues

WASHINGTON – Voters choosing between President Donald Trump and former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden in the U.S. presidential election should have no difficulty distinguishing between the two men on policy questions.
The differences in the candidates’ positions on a large variety of issues – climate, taxes, trade, race relations, national security, immigration, and above all the handling of the coronavirus pandemic – are stark and provide voters with two very distinct options for the direction of the country over the coming four years.
In general, President Trump has governed as he campaigned four years ago, as a norm-busting Republican iconoclast who forges his own path. That’s true both in his relationship with other nations, where his “America First” philosophy has tested the bonds between the U.S. and long-time allies, and in domestic politics, where he has consistently pushed the boundaries of executive authority, frequently finding himself reined in by the federal judiciary.
Biden, by contrast, has campaigned on a combination of largely progressive policy positions coupled with a promise that he will return the nation to a more traditional form of politics – one less focused on Twitter and mass rallies and more on detailed policy debates and legislative deal making.
Coronavirus response
… the Trump administration’s plan for dealing with the virus hinges mainly on the development of vaccines and therapeutic treatments for those infected, rather than a concerted effort to slow transmission rates. …
Biden supports the development of vaccines and therapeutic treatments, but at the same time advocates for a more active federal approach to containment of the virus. Biden has repeatedly said that he believes a nationwide mask mandate is both legal and necessary.
Both Trump and Biden support the reopening of schools, but where Biden proposes providing federal funding to help schools open safely, Trump has proposed withholding federal money from schools that fail to reopen.
Climate change
… he frequently says that he wants all Americans to have clean water and clean air, President Trump … withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord and has taken multiple steps to expand oil drilling and coal extraction in the United States.
Biden has proposed a $2 trillion plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the key driver of global warming, and would push to make the generation of electricity in the U.S. carbon-neutral by 2035. Though he has not adopted the Green New Deal program supported by many progressive Democrats, he does support some elements of it. He wants to push the U.S. to the forefront of the expanding market for electric vehicles and promises to return the country to the Paris Accords.
Law enforcement and race relations
Over the past year, while protests over the deaths of multiple unarmed African Americans involving police have roiled cities across the country, President Trump has made it clear that he stands squarely on the side of the law enforcement community. …
Biden has tried to walk a fine line between calling for order and condemning violence on all sides, and a growing movement within his party to radically reform law enforcement practices. …
Health care
President Trump’s administration is currently before the Supreme Court, arguing to have the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, struck down in its entirety. …
Biden, who was vice president when the ACA was signed into law by President Barack Obama, wants to expand the program by offering a “public option” for insurance that would allow people to buy into a Medicare-like program if they choose. …
Taxes
President Trump has campaigned on the successful passage of his 2017 tax cut and promises of additional cuts in the future. …
Biden has not been shy about his intention to raise taxes on the wealthy and on corporations. He would roll back many of the tax breaks in the 2017 legislation …
Trade
President Trump’s trade policy has focused largely, though not completely, on bilateral discussions rather than the kind of multilateral trade pacts that were in favor before he took office. He has imposed punishing tariffs on goods from countries that, he believes, don’t treat the U.S. fairly, particularly China. …
Biden has said that he would reconsider one of the first moves Trump made on taking office: withdrawing the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive trade deal involving companies all around the Pacific Rim. He has also promised to reevaluate Trump’s tariffs, suggesting he would roll back at least some of them. …
Federal courts
With the help of the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate, President Trump has been able to name hundreds of conservative judges to lifetime appointments on federal courts at all levels. And with the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court on Monday evening, his third appointment to the nine-member panel, Trump appears to have cemented a 6-3 conservative majority on that body for the foreseeable future. …
Biden has not explicitly supported the expansion of the high court but has said that he would create a commission to study the idea.
National security
Trump’s approach to national security has focused on isolationism – strengthening the U.S. military through increased defense spending while attempting to reduce the number of forces posted overseas, both in high-conflict areas like Afghanistan and Iraq, and on the soil of U.S. allies like South Korea and Germany.
His frequent claim that the other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization “owe” money to the U.S. and his suggestion that the U.S. might not honor its mutual defense obligations to other NATO members have shaken generations-old alliances.

As far as Federal courts go, Donald Trump has appointed many judges that do not have a reputation of strongly supporting abortion, whereas the Biden-Harris campaign has indicated it wants the opposite.
Donald Trump, while supporting aspects of the LGBTQ agenda, is less strident than the Biden-Harris campaign.
The Biden-Harris campaign website essentially states that the Trump Administration has allowed religious views on LGBTQ matters to be too important and it wants to roll back the validity of various religious objections:
Religious freedom is a fundamental American value. But states have inappropriately used broad exemptions to allow businesses, medical providers, social service agencies, state and local government officials, and others to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people. The Trump-Pence Administration has deliberately and systematically attempted to gut protections for the LGBTQ+ community by carving out broad religious exemptions to existing nondiscrimination laws and policies across federal agencies. On the moral front, both Donald Trump and Joe Biden have pushed various aspects of immorality–but the VOA article tried to mainly avoid that.

The USA presidential campaign is in full swing. Though Democratic party candidate Joe Biden and Republican party candidate Donald Trump have differing economic and climate policies as well as different views on abortion and racial matters, there are many similarities both share. The lesser of two evils is still evil. Pray for God’s kingdom to come and HIS will to be done related to the upcoming election (cf. Matthew 6:10).
That being said, on the international front, more in Europe seem to favor Joe Biden (see ‘Who Is Europe Rooting For In The US Presidential Election?’ ‘US election 2020: Why it matters so much to Germans’) as Donald Trump has caused more offense to Europe than any recent USA president, and much of that has impacted Germany.

During the Trump administration political ties between the U.S. and Germany have critically deteriorated. Recently, the U.S. imposed sanctions on companies working on Nord Stream 2, and announced to withdraw 12,000 troops from Germany. In 2013, when Germany repatriated gold from the U.S., the Germans communicated: we will not be threatened.
Gold is a political metal. “Whoever has the gold makes the rules,” as the saying goes. Because gold serves as the backstop of the international financial system, the global distribution of gold influences the balance of power. This is true for gold ownership, but it also applies to storage locations. The more of its gold reserves Germany stores at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the more leverage the U.S. has over Germany. …
Since the launch of the Eurosystem Germany has been repatriating gold. Currently, Germany has 1,698 tonnes (50%) stored on its own soil, 1,236 tonnes (37%) stored in the U.S., and 432 tonnes (13%) in the U.K. Officially, Germany has the second largest gold reserves in the world at 3,366 tonnes. …
Germans are no fan of Trump. The annual “The Fears of the Germans” survey, performed by R+V Versicherung, shows that in 2020 the people in Germany fear nothing more than Trump’s foreign policy. …
Germany might be waiting for the elections in the U.S., because Biden can change America’s foreign policy. If Trump wins, and trans-Atlantic alliances further deteriorate, I wouldn’t be surprised if Germany brings more gold home. The consequences will be significant. One, if Germany repatriates because of a political dispute, this can incentivize other countries to repatriate from New York as well, causing a run on the Fed. As far as gold goes, no matter who wins the USA presidential election, the Bible shows that a German-dominated Europe will acquire gold.
While I am NOT a “gold bug” as I understand how some define that term, Bible prophecy shows that gold and silver will have value into at least part of the Great Tribulation–which means it will have value AFTER the USA dollar is done.
Notice the following prophecies related to the coming European (at least partially German per Isaiah 10:5-12) King of the North:
37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; (Daniel 11:37-43)
If gold and silver were of no value then, then they would not be precious (see also Zechariah 14:13-14) to the King of the North. The Bible clearly shows that gold and silver will be of value into the time of the final Babylon (Revelation 18:11-16). It may well be that the King of the North will realize that his currency needs more gold-backing as the collapsing of the USA dollar will likely send shockwaves against other paper currencies. Gold will help stabilize whatever currency he is supporting. He even may start amassing gold prior to the invasion of the USA (Daniel 11:37-39), but will clearly do so afterwards when he invades the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).
But again, those prophecies will come to pass no matter who wins the USA presidential election next month.

In February 2017, Germany announced that it repatriated more of its gold three years ahead of schedule. Why would Germany do this? Are various nations accumulating gold with the intention to dethrone the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency? Will the US dollar ever collapse? So, yes it is interesting that the idea that Germany may repatriate more of its gold after the USA presidential election to be less pressured by the USA.
Germany, and much of the rest of Europe, is in the process of decoupling more and more from the USA.
