VOA: Risk of ‘Armageddon’ Highest Since 1962, Biden Says

US President Joe Biden said the world faces the “prospect of Armageddon” with Russian President Vladimir Putin threatening to use nuclear weapons to protect Russian territory.

Biden said the Russian president was “not joking when he talks about potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons, because his military is, you might say, is significantly underperforming.”

Russia likely did not foresee that the USA and others in the West would supply Ukraine with so many sophisticated weapons. By the USA doing so, that has increased the risk that Russia might use some type of nuclear weapon.

The risk of Armageddon is the highest it has been since the early 1960s, President Joe Biden said Thursday night as Russian losses in Ukraine prompt Russian officials to discuss the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons.

“We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis,” Biden said at a fundraiser in New York for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In October 1962 the U.S. and the Soviet Union were seemingly on the verge of a nuclear conflict after the U.S. deployment of ballistic missiles in Turkey and Italy were countered by the Soviet deployment of similar missiles in Cuba.

The president said the Russia President Vladimir Putin, “a guy I know fairly well,” is not joking when he talks of using “nuclear or biological or chemical weapons.”

Although Joe Biden professes some version of Christianity (he claims to be Roman Catholic, but disagrees with various of that church’s teachings), he looks to be quite ignorant about Armageddon.

If Russia were, for example, to use a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine, that would NOT be really related to ‘Armageddon.’

What is commonly known as ‘Armageddon’ could perhaps be called WWIV.

In sequence, of course, that means that WWIII has to come first.

So no, the use of a tactical nuclear weapon by anyone this year cannot be Armageddon.

The term Armageddon is only used once in the Bible. It is the sixth of seven bowls of God’s wrath:

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. (Revelation 16:12-16)

Notice that this involves the kings of the east–and they will gather in “the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.” That is, modern day Tel Megiddo, which is in the land of Israel.

The kings of the east reference refers to Asian nations, including Russia, whose border extends to the farthest parts of the east.

50:41 “Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance;
They are cruel and shall not show mercy.
Their voice shall roar like the sea;
They shall ride on horses,
Set in array, like a man for the battle,
Against you, O daughter of Babylon.

43 “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,
And his hands grow feeble;
Anguish has taken hold of him,
Pangs as of a woman in childbirth…”(Jeremiah 50:41-43).

Russia is in the north and is in the northern and eastern ends of the earth.

They will be against the “daughter of Babylon”–that is a reference to the Beast power that will arise in Europe. It is NOT the United States of America.

Notice also that the Bible shows Babylon tied together with birth pains/pangs to a group from a far country:

1 The burden against Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 “Lift up a banner on the high mountain, Raise your voice to them; Wave your hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger–Those who rejoice in My exaltation.” 4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, Like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts musters The army for battle. 5 They come from a far country, From the end of heaven–The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land. 6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore all hands will be limp, Every man’s heart will melt, 8 And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames (Isaiah 13:1-8).

Thus, both the accounts in Jeremiah and Isaiah seem related to the same invaders. This is referring to an end time confederation that has a distance to travel–apparently a type of union of powers from the east including Russia, who is also the major power of the far north.

Furthermore, a “far country” also seems to be tied to the powers of the east elsewhere in Isaiah:

11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. (Isaiah 46:11)

We are seeing steps for such a confederation beginning to come to pass.

But the use of a nuclear weapon now is not Armageddon.

The late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong wrote about the use of nuclear weapons in 1979:

The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem … will stop this “daily sacrifice”… And the abomination that maketh desolate set up.” What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15 … From this time (Daniel 12:11) to Christ’s coming will be 1290 days. Now, verse 12, “Blessed is he that waiteth, and comes to the 1335 days.” Never before have we understood these periods of 1260, 1290. and 1335 days. But it seems evident, now, a blessing is pronounced on us–GOD”S CHURCH–who wait and endure until the 1335 days–approximately 1335 days prior to Christ’s coming … We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beast’s armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). Australians and New Zealanders should not take real comfort in the above as after the USA and UK are out of the way, Canada will been among “the nations not a few” (Isaiah 10:7, KJV) that the forces of the King of the North will “cut off” (for more information about Canada, who was listed above, please see the article Canada in Prophecy: What Does Bible Prophecy, Catholic Prophecy, and other Predictions Suggest About the Future of Canada?).

That said, the attack by the European beast power (referenced also in Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses) could be referred to as the start of WWIII.

Notice that the Bible tells of a coming time of massive devastation:

23 ‘The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and His wrath.’ (Deuteronomy 29:23-24)

19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts
The land is burned up,
And the people shall be as fuel for the fire; No man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand
And be hungry;
He shall devour on the left hand
And not be satisfied; Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm. 21 Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh; Together they shall be against Judah (Isaiah 9:19-21).

The above descriptions are consistent with a nuclear or similar attack. Manasseh represents the USA and Ephraim its British-descended allies. THIS HAS NOT YET HAPPENED IN HISTORY AND IS A PROPHECY FOR OUR TIME.

When will it end?

The old Worldwide Church of God taught:

With the second coming of Christ, the “times of the Gentiles” will at last come to an end. (Stump K. The Arab World in Prophecy. Plain Truth, December 1979, p. 38)

For the final time of the Gentiles to arise, the Gentiles will need to cooperate together against the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies.

We are getting closer to the Great Tribulation as well as Armageddon and steps continue to be taken that are leading to them.

But, again, Joe Biden is mistaken claiming that the use of a tactical nuclear weapon means Armageddon.

That said, WWIII is getting closer and weapons of mass destruction, including or similar to that of nuclear weapons will be used.

Time is getting shorter.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Prophecy

A Gentile organization known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) recently met. Statements were made about trade connectivity and risks associated with using the U.S.A. dollar for international payments. The SCO currently comprises eight Member States (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), four Observer States interested in acceding to full membership (Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia) and six “Dialogue Partners” (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey). Some of the objectives are consistent with the BRICS group of nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), which according for former Brazilian President Lula, was formed to bypass the U.S.A. dollar. Are there military aspects associated with the SCO nations? What about China’s One Belt, One Road’ project? What about biblical prophecies involving “Gentiles,” “kings of the east,” “people from the north,” kings “from the ends of the earth,” and Armageddon? What will happen to the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, nations in the Middle East, and Europe? Is there bad news before the good news of the Kingdom of God?
