KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A U.S. peace envoy brought a warning to the Taliban on Tuesday that any government that comes to power through force in Afghanistan won’t be recognized internationally after a series of cities fell to the insurgent group in stunningly quick succession.
Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. envoy, traveled to Doha, Qatar, where the Taliban maintain a political office, to tell the group that there was no point in pursuing victory on the battlefield because a military takeover of the capital of Kabul would guarantee they will be global pariahs. He and others hope to persuade Taliban leaders to return to peace talks with the Afghan government as American and NATO forces finish their pullout from the country.
The insurgents have captured five out of 34 provincial capitals in the country in less than a week. They are now battling the Western-backed government for control of several others, including Lashkar Gah in Helmand, and Kandahar and Farah in provinces of the same names.
After a 20-year Western military mission and billions of dollars spent training and shoring up Afghan forces, many are at odds to explain why the regular forces have collapsed, fleeing the battle sometimes by the hundreds. The fighting has fallen largely to small groups of elite forces and the Afghan air force.

WASHINGTON – The combination of U.S. over-the-horizon military capabilities and Afghan security forces appear to be no match for Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, who continue to beat back better-equipped and more numerous government troops in a bid to exert control over the war-torn country.
U.S. officials Monday called the situation on the ground in Afghanistan “deeply concerning,” pointing to the Taliban takeover of five provincial capitals in a 72-hour-period, something that has not gone unnoticed at the highest echelons of the Pentagon.
Afghanistan “is clearly not going in the right direction,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby admitted to reporters, saying U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin “shares the concern of the international community.”
“The secretary continues to believe that the Afghan forces have the capability, they have the capacity to make a big difference on the battlefield,” Kirby added.
But that belief has so far failed to stem a Taliban offensive that has seen its fighters roll back Afghan security forces, growing stronger along the way.
“The gains they’ve made have allowed them to capture equipment and free prisoners, which is having an effect on expanding their military power,” a U.S. official told VOA on the condition of anonymity, given the sensitive nature of the information.
The U.S. has repeatedly tried to bolster the Afghan security, initially by using airstrikes to target stolen equipment and vehicles, and increasingly to push back Taliban fighters themselves.
Over the past week, according to U.S. officials, airstrikes have concentrated on hitting Taliban forces advancing on key cities like Kandahar, Herat and Lashkar Gah, where they have engaged Afghan special forces in fierce fighting. …
The Taliban are finding other ways to blunt the impact of U.S. airpower, as well, convincing some Afghan forces to flee quickly or to not fight at all.
Asked by VOA what the U.S. could do in such situations, Kirby said, bluntly, “Not much.” …
“The Taliban were allowed to preposition their forces,” an international official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told VOA, noting the freedom of movement the Taliban enjoyed following the signing of the Doha Agreement with Washington last year. …

The Taliban believes that they are winning and are probably laughing about their coming punishment, if successful, being isolation.
The Taliban were isolated before, internationally by many, and that is not something that they are overly concerned about.
Overall, the Taliban are thrilled that they outlasted the USA, which was their stated strategy for the past 20 years.
They felt they would defeat the USA eventually as they were sure that the USA would give up.
Basically, that is what happened.

It appears that these Catholic writings suggest that the end of the USA will thus be in the 21st century as that is when the last pope would need to appear. As far as Asian forces go, this could be interpreted to include terrorists from places like Afghanistan and others parts of Asia (Thiel B. Nostradamus’ Predictions of Obama: A Hoax? COGwriter, January 1, 2009)
Now with the USA mainly pulling out, America has been defeated by “Asian forces.” And irrespective of Nostradamus’ writings, the end of the USA is near (watch Is the USA prophesied to be destroyed by 2028?).

It was back in 2012, that Barack Obama essentially claimed victory for the USA in Afghanistan (cf. https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2012/05/01/obama-afghanistan-speech/).
I have warned for some time that the situation in Afghanistan was not going as well as the USA has publicly declared or hoped.
Back on March 9, 2013 (see Taliban suicide bombing in Afghanistan: Considered to be a warning?), I wrote:
Unless the USA keeps enough troops in Afghanistan (which it is not intending to do), the situation there will change to something that the USA has claimed that it does not want. The Taliban, other Islamic groups, and tribal leaders will pretty much insure that.

“I’m cautiously optimistic they will be able to sustain themselves,” said Brig. Gen Daniel Yoo, the commander of Regional Command (Southwest), said of the Afghan forces.
He said the success of the Afghan security army and police depended on leadership, continued development of logistics and confidence.

In response to the above on October 26, 2014 (see USA and UK cease combat operations in Afghanistan: What’s next?), I wrote:
The ceasing of combat operations by the UK and USA is not a victory in Afghanistan. It is a pause so that troops can be pulled out. It will not bring real peace to the region. At least some in Afghanistan will likely support the rise of a leader that the Bible refers to as the final King of the South.

Since the Bible prophesies terrorism and we may well see more coming in and/or from Afghanistan.

The bomb sent a message that Donald Trump would be willing to take military action, it did not spark WWIII, but it also did not stop terrorism in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has been called the USA’s longest running war. And the USA has not been able to bring peace. Afghanistan is a mountainous region that is broken up into various tribal areas. Afghanistan was a financial drain on the old Soviet Union and some believe that this is part of the reason the Soviet Union finally broke up.
Afghanistan is not secure. Afghanistan needs the Kingdom of God.

The Bible prophesies terrorism and we will be seeing terrorism in (and from) Afghanistan as part of a confederation against the USA and at least some of its British-descended allies (see also Psalm 83, Why Terrorism? Is Terrorism Prophesied?, and Is the Future King of the South Rising Up?).
The USA did not win in Afghanistan. The USA will lose.
And yes, the end of the USA is coming relatively soon.
