‘Will the United States and Europe Break Up Over China?’

The European Union is taking steps to provide and alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative:

The EU foreign ministers tasked the European Commission on Monday with preparing a European ‘strategic response’ to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Provisionally dubbed ‘A Globally Connected Europe’ – though still in search of a name and a logo – the European response aims to ‘identify and implement a set of high impact and visible projects and actions globally’ by deploying a variety of public financing tools to channel European private investment into ‘connectivity’ in countries that may have been attracted by the prospect of Chinese investment.

Investment and infrastructure rolled out in areas as diverse as Central Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the Balkans is going to involve a huge number of policy prescriptions. But this complexity is set aside by the European Council completely.

Chinese investment under BRI also covers a vast geographic and thematic territory …

Now, the USA was supposed to be involved with the alternative to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (see G7’s counter ‘silk road’ will assist European trade), but so far it is not clear how or if that will happen.

The Bible shows that Europe will be an effective competitor to China as Europe is prophesied to dominate world trade (cf. Revelation 18) and the USA will be gone (cf. Daniel 11:39; for details check out: USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

Now, it is true that the Silk Road project increases China’s economic and political influence, but the reality of physics is that most roads go both ways. And that certainly will be the case for those involved in this project.

This project will give Europe greater access to markets in Asia and also Africa.

While many news sources were claiming that Europe was opposed to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) saw it differently. And we put together the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:

China’s Silk Road and Babylon the Great

China has been embarking on a multi-trillion dollar project to build roads and ports to connect more of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe to it. This has been called the ‘Belt and Road Initiative,’ Silk Road Project, Silk Road 2.0, and the One Belt, One Road Initiative. While this is expected to benefit Chinese trade (as well as provide infrastructure for the gathering at Armageddon), could this also benefit the rise of Babylon the Great foretold in the Book of Revelation and scriptures in the Old Testament? What about the proposed Polar Silk Road? Will the benefits to Europe last or will the end time ‘daughter of Babylon’ possibly face invasion from nations involved with the Silk Road project? Dr. Thiel addresses these issues with scriptures from the Bible.

The Bible clearly teaches that the European ‘Babylon the Great’ will be a trading power that will enrich, for a time, the merchants of the world (Revelation 18).

The Chinese project is connecting Europe more to Asia as well as connecting Europe more to Africa.

The BRI, despite problems it will encounter, will increase trade between Europe and Asia and Africa.

Biden and Merkel will make all the right noises at their meeting this week. But deep transatlantic tensions persist.

The 75-year-old relationship between the United States and post-war Europe is a bit like a traditional arranged marriage between two great families: It is ever fraught with tension, threats of estrangement, occasional outside dalliances (with China and Russia) and, once in a while, spousal abuse (former U.S. President Donald Trump). But surprises are few and divorce unthinkable.

Yet when two stalwarts of this geopolitical union, outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Joe Biden, meet at the White House on Thursday, there will be something new and unsettling in the air: a sense the relationship is changing, perhaps permanently. Americans are increasingly frustrated at European reluctance to get on board with Washington’s strategic shift away from Moscow and toward confronting Beijing. Europeans remain skeptical about the United States’ durability as a democracy and partner, a concern Biden has only partially assuaged. …

Germans and other Europeans are more than a little irritated at Biden’s impatience to push them toward a new consensus, especially against China. …

It’s also hard for Europeans to ignore the fact that Biden’s hostility toward China is more a continuation than a break with Trump. Nor has Biden lifted his predecessor’s steel and aluminum tariffs. …

“Germany does not want to get caught in the middle of a broader geopolitical power struggle between the United States and China. It never has and never will,” said Rachel Rizzo of the Center for a New American Security. …

And although the Germans praised Biden’s outreach to Russia at his Geneva summit in June, they are also hedging their bets by dealing commercially with Moscow, most notably with the new Nord Stream 2 pipeline that Washington opposes. The Biden official said he expected no immediate resolution of that dispute. In May, Biden waived sanctions against Nord Stream 2’s German builder while discussions continue.

Yes, the Europeans have their own agenda–and consider that the USA is not really interested in them. They want to handle China, as well as Russia, their way. A way that puts EU interests above those of the USA.

Do not be surprised if some of Europe’s alternatives end up connecting with some of China’s Belt & Road projects.

The Eurasian Economic Union wants to be part of China’s project (see Eurasian Economic Union wants closer ties to China’s Belt and Road Initiative: Prelude ultimately to Armageddon?) and it is expected that the EU wants the EAEU to be part of its alternative.

A shift toward Eurasia and the final time of the Gentiles was prophesied in the Bible and we are seeing political, economic, and infrastructure events moving towards it.

We are getting closer to the end of Anglo-American dominance.

Is China paving roads to Armageddon? China is working on something known as the ‘Silk Road’ project or the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. NBC reports that China intends to spend one trillion dollars to build roads, bridges, railroads, and maritime facilities to reach from China to Europe and China to the Middle East. Over 60 nations, including Russia, are involved with this. Could this Silk Road project possibly produce thoroughfares that could be used by troops that will amass at Armageddon?
