‘Will the war in Ukraine spell the end of neutrality for certain states?’
CCOG portrayal of the Beast of Revelation 13:1-10
The result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is having prophetic military ramifications.

Switzerland, Sweden and Finland are just some of the European states that currently maintain a neutral status. But Russia’s attack on Ukraine has forced them to reconsider their stance.
“It’s their decision,” said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg late last week. “But if they decide to apply, Finland and Sweden will be warmly welcomed, and I expect that process to go quickly.”
Both countries have long considered themselves neutral, but the war in Ukraine could push them into the arms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization military alliance. And they aren’t the only European countries questioning their status in view of the current threat from Russia. DW has an overview.
Switzerland: Joining the sanctions
Switzerland is considered to be the very embodiment of the neutral state. In 1815, Swiss representatives promised to stay out of conflicts and not to provide mercenaries to any one side. In return, European powers assured Switzerland they would not engage in any conflict on Swiss territory. “This is guaranteed internationally and thus represents the strongest neutrality that even exists,” said historian Michael Gehler of the University of Hildesheim, near Hannover.
Even with the ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine, the Swiss government has remained unwavering in its neutral status. It has said it will not supply weapons, nor will it provide Swiss ammunition for German tanksto be sent to Ukraine.
But Gehler did point out a major difference: “The participation in sanctions against the Russian Federation, against top representatives such as [President] Putin and [Foreign Minister] Lavrov, and not just against oligarchs — that’s new. Switzerland has never done that
Austria declared permanent neutrality in 1955, a prerequisite for the withdrawal of Allied troops after World War II. … However, the war in Ukraine has also had an impact in Austria, and the government is looking to boost the army and improve its capabilities. …
Ireland declared its neutral status after gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1921, and maintained it throughout World War II. The vast majority of the Irish people remain opposed to NATO membership, though that debate has intensified in recent weeks.
Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin has repeatedly made clear that the country is neutral militarily, but on the side of Ukraine both politically and morally.
Though not a member of NATO, Ireland — like Austria — is a member of the European Union, which states in its mutual defense clause that “if a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power […].” …
“Russia is not the neighbor we imagined,” Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said recently. She has been actively advocating joining NATO, and has clearly positioned her country on the side of Ukraine, providing the government in Kyiv with weapons.
Cyprus and Malta: Acting tough on oligarchs
Cyprus initially struggled to condemn Russia’s aggression, because thousands of Russians live in Cyprus and many oligarchs have invested billions on the island.
However, the government has now taken a tough stance against the Russians on the EU sanctions list …

Though many in Europe want to stay aloof from military matters, fear is a powerful motivator.
Notice that the Bible tells of the rise of a power in Europe that is partly strong and partly weak, and also does not stick together well:
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)
Despite that, the Bible also shows that Europe will end up as a military (Revelation 13:1-10) and economic power (cf. Revelation 18).
The Bible, in Revelation 13, tells of the Beast power having seven heads and ten horns:
1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. (Revelation 13:1-2)
The sea that this is referring to is the Mediterranean sea as passages in the Old Testament demonstrate (Daniel 7:2-3; Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16; watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).
The Beast power to come will be European.
While we are NOT to the point of the prophesied European reorganization yet, notice something else from Revelation 13:
3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:3-4)
So, we see that a power presumed dead, Europe, will rise up and be so successful militarily that the world will marvel.
How militarily successful?
Well, this same Beast leader is called the King of the North in the 11th chapter of the Book of Daniel.
Notice what verses 39-41 show:
39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. (Daniel 11:39-41)
The power with the strongest fortresses in the 21st century is the USA, along with its British-descended allies. The King of the South is a power that will arise in the Middle East and North Africa.
To defeat them, the King of the North will have “many ships” (Daniel 11:40) and a “great army” (Daniel 11:25).
But currently Europe is not capable of this.
Yet, Europe has changed.
Just this weekend, the EU declared it would have more integration and put together a stronger joint military (see ‘Time for the United States of Europe!’ ‘Euro Conference Approves ‘Joint Armed Forces’’).
Whether or not certain nations in the European Union consider themselves to be neutral, they are treaty-bound to be involved with Europe’s military.
Furthermore, more change is prophesied to come.
After a time of crises, Europe is prophesied to reorganize and turn power over to a dictator, the Bible calls the beast:
12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
Europe is more motivated to accelerate its moves towards political, economic, and military unity.
Yes, these are shifts of biblical significance.
The Europeans want a new world order, with them running it.
And the Bible shows that the Babylonian system the Europeans are working on will happen (cf. Revelation 17 & 18).
Although Europe will appear to many to work for a time (Revelation 13 and 17), destruction will be the result (1 Thessalonians 5:3, Daniel 2:44, Revelation 17:14, 18:1-23).
Building up its military, combined with Babylonian unity, will not save Europe.
The Bible shows that the solution for whole planet is the return of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

The fact that ‘neutral’ nations are taking steps now, show that yes, they will be willing to support the coming European Beast power.
Even Switzerland, which is perhaps the least likely, will end up being involved for a time (see Could Switzerland be descended from Gad? Is it really prepared for what is prophecied?).
