Millions more are at risk of famine in Yemen if the situation there does not improve:

The number of Yemenis on the brink of famine could rise to 12 million — or two in five people — from around 8.5 million in the coming months due to escalating war and a deepening economic crisis, the United Nations said …

As fighting intensifies, particularly around the main port city of Hodeidah, and the economic situation deteriorates, the World Food Programme (WFP) said it feared millions struggling to make ends meet would succumb to severe hunger and disease.

The number of people facing starvation in Yemen could rise to nearly 12 million as conflict intensifies around the port of Hodeidah, a vital aid delivery link, the World Food Programme told CNN Monday.

A collapsing currency and deteriorating economic situation in the Middle East’s poorest country are also aggravating the situation, the UN agency said.

The WFP said 18 million people in Yemen already do not know where their next meal is coming from and eight million of those are “considered on the brink of famine.”

“Since June, some 570,000 people have had to flee their homes from fighting in Hodeidah, while the Yemeni riyal has undergone an alarming depreciation, and the cost of basic food items has gone up by a third since this time last year,” WFP Yemen country director Stephen Anderson told CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/15/middleeast/yemen-famine-war/index.html

Jesus warned:

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:6-8)

In war ravaged Yemen we are seeing famines and others issues.

We seem to be in the time Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows.”

As far as pestilences go, there is a concern now about something resembling polio rising in the USA:

More possible cases of a rare, polio-like virus have been reported, according to health officials.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been investigating more than 360 cases of acute flaccid myelitis dating back to 2014. The disorder, which mainly affects children, can paralyze a child’s arms and legs. …

So, another disease with little the medical profession knows how to handle.

Pestilences will get worse–and yes, even worse in places like the USA (see also Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse).
