For decades, Britain and the United States have been bound together in a unique relationship through their common vision of a world they wish to create, the external and internal threats they share, and the personal relationships their leaders have developed. Today, the changing mood in both Washington and London is forging an unusual new chapter in this long standing “special relationship.” …

Coined in 1946 by British prime minister Winston Churchill, the term “special relationship” between Britain and the United States describes a bond born out of common cause in defeating the fascist powers in World War II. Since then, it has endured strain and a cyclical reinvigoration of mutual understanding and commitment. …

President Trump and Prime Minister May share a vision of the world that departs from the neoliberal policies of their predecessors and focuses more on protecting jobs at home and the public from terrorism. Both leaders are suspicious of twenty-first century globalization, and they hope to challenge this trend by implementing policies that reflect the interests of the nationalist and populist sectors.

Economically, Trump and May have already begun pursuing such policies, with the former having withdrawn the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and renegotiating the U.S. position in the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the latter having activated Article 50 in March of this year. We will most likely see a general shift in preference towards bilateral free-trade agreements and away from multilateral ones. This will allow them to pick and choose which nations they would like to trade freely with and also provide more leverage in negotiating trade terms. Both leaders, however, may find it difficult to maintain such policies. …

Yes, there has long been a ‘special relationship’ between the USA and UK (cf. Genesis 48; watch also Fraternal Relationship between the USA & UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand?). The descendants of the UK dominate not only the UK, but nations such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand today.

Last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the USA and Canada were “siblings” at a state dinner (see Justin Trudeau: USA and Canada are ‘siblings’; Barack Obama straining ‘special relationship’ with UK). Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau probably does not fully understand how the USA and Canada actually are siblings–it is not because of a shared border–but because their ancestors were brothers. But his observation is consistent with scripture.

Even former US President Barack Obama stated that the UK was a “blood brother” of the USA (see USA’s Obama reportedly calls UK ‘blood brother’ and urges pro-EU vote; London’s Johnson calls him perverse and Kenyan).

The Bible tells of two siblings, the brothers Ephraim and Manasseh, who were the sons of Joseph. And they received blessings from Joseph’s father Jacob, whose name was changed by God to Israel:

13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him. 14 Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn. 15 And he blessed Joseph, and said:

“God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has fed me all my life long to this day, 16 The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them…(Genesis 48:13-16).

Because of this, sometimes when the Bible uses the term ‘Israel’ it can be referring to the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh, and they include the Anglo-nations. Ephraim is the progenitor of the British people, which includes the Anglo-Saxons of the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Manasseh the progenitor of the USA, also sometimes referred to in prophecy as Samaria–like ancient Samaria, the USA is quite a mix of peoples. The USA and the UK-descended peoples are brothers in the sense that their main progenitors were actual brothers (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

Now, while still pursuing the method of realising our overall strategic concept, I come to the crux of what I have travelled here to Say. Neither the sure prevention of war, nor the continuous rise of world organisation will be gained without what I have called the fraternal association of the English-speaking peoples. This means a special relationship between the British Commonwealth and Empire and the United States. This is no time for generalities, and I will venture to be precise. Fraternal association requires not only the growing friendship and mutual understanding between our two vast but kindred Systems of society, but the continuance of the intimate relationship between our military advisers, leading to common study of potential dangers, the similarity of weapons and manuals of instructions, and to the interchange of officers and cadets at technical colleges. So, Winston Churchill said that this was a special fraternal relationship–a relationship of brothers.

Winston Churchill was right that the USA and UK have a special relationship, Barack Obama was right about the UK being a blood brother of the USA, and Justin Trudeau was right that the USA and Canada are siblings. Since World War II, the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have closely cooperated in international espionage. They have been referred to as the “five eyes” essentially meaning that all five of those nations see and share what they see. This was basically confirmed by something that came out because of the Snowden leaks. It is only the Anglo-descended nations that the USA has specifically exempted from”spy attacks”:

An NSA document from 2010 made clear that only the Anglo-nations are trusted and close friends. European leaders do not like this and will long remember this.

Back in 2013, the Council on Foreign Relations had the following at its site related to the Snowden leaks and US espionage:

“The damage is hard to overstate. This is not just the US bugging a head of government who happens to be a close ally and Europe’s pivotal leader. She also grew up under the German Democratic Republic and the surveillance of the Stasi secret police. She is right to regard this revelation as a serious breach of trust,” writes the Financial Times in an editorial.

“There is much talk today about the risks of a new era of American isolationism and a lack of U.S. leadership in the world. It is important to remember that isolationism can be triggered not only by a potential retreat from global affairs, but also by the rather imprudent use of America’s hard and soft power on the world stage,” writes Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg for Project Syndicate.

“We are not reassured by the often-heard explanation that everyone spies on everyone else all the time. We are not advocating a return to 1929 when Secretary of State Henry Stimson banned the decryption of diplomatic cables because ‘gentlemen do not read each other’s mail.’ But there has long been an understanding that international spying was done in pursuit of a concrete threat to national security,” the New York Times writes in an editorial. http://www.cfr.org/about/newsletters/archive/newsletter/n1534

The espionage scandal involving the USA hurt then and will hurt it more in the future. Karl Guttenberg is a German temporarily living in the USA, and is one I have wondered about possibly being the final King of the North (see also Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?).

What many Europeans want is that the USA will treat them the same way they treat the Anglo-nations:

Underlying the debate over Ms Merkel are longstanding and deep tensions over intelligence sharing between the US and European nations such as Germany and France.

The US has for decades, and with few interruptions, shared intelligence with four other countries, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, under the so-called “five eyes” agreement which includes a proviso that they do not spy on each other.

“Germany and France have long resented this special relationship in intelligence,” said Tim Naftali, of the New America Foundation. “But the question is whether [France and Germany] would be able to accept the co-ordination of their foreign policies that comes along with the agreement.”

The United Kingdom – United States of America Agreement (UKUSA,…is a multilateral agreement for cooperation in signals intelligence between the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The alliance of intelligence operations is also known as Five Eyes (FVEY). (Wikipedia, viewed 10/19/2013)

But continental Europe is distant for the USA and UK. The Brexit vote and the rise of Donald Trump have further increased the distance between the UK/USA and the rest of Europe.

This is also serving to drive the USA and UK closer together.

Donald Trump was the most influential leader outside of the UK that backed the Brexit vote. Donald Trump wants to see the EU break-apart. Donald Trump wants to change international trade in ways that the EU does not want. Donald Trump’s military comments, foreign policies, and other statements have helped push the EU closer together, as well as led the Europeans to decide that they need to better arm themselves.

It is the UK that voted to leave the EU. The EU wanted the UK to stay. The EU pleaded with the UK to stay. The EU tried to change various rules to get the UK to stay, but the UK voted to leave.

The EU is now angry at the UK and the USA. The EU wants to punish the UK for Brexit as it does not want any other nation to pull out of the EU.

These factors and more are driving the UK and USA to look more towards each other and less towards Europe. While the EU is not considered to be a common enemy of the USA/UK in a current military sense, both the USA and UK are treating the EU as a potential economic enemy.

This should not be a surprise to long-term readers of this page. Notice something I posted here back in 2008:

Negotiations will continue and some type of loose agreements will happen. In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. The Arab nations will most likely agree with many of the standards as they seem to be destined to form a brief end-time alliance with the Europeans (The Arab World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).

However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.

Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.

The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).

The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. The Vatican will also have influence here as Latin America is highly Roman Catholic.

The fact of Brexit and the EU’s responses to the UK and Donald Trump have been pushing the Brits to conclude that they need to move closer to the USA on trade.

Trade disputes look to be a factor that will lead to World War III.

As far as the long-term relationship between the UK and USA goes, this will last until shortly after the beginning of the Great Tribulation.

A European King of the North will invade and destroy the United States, Great Britain, etc. Herbert W. Armstrong taught that the King of the North Beast (the one mentioned in Daniel 11:40-41 which is the same one who places the abomination mentioned in Daniel 11:31) would destroy the British and American peoples (shortly after he takes power, as in Revelation 17:12-13). Notice some of what he wrote about that in 1979:

The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem (Dan 11:41, Zech. 14:2), will stop this “daily sacrifice”…And the abomination that maketh desolate set up.” What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). The Bible teaches that the European King of the North will eliminate the power with the strongest military in the end times (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses)–in the 21st century that would have to be the USA and, to a lesser degree, its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (cf. Isaiah 17:3; Daniel 8:24-25).

The Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21), also called the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), will end, for a time, the ‘special relationship’ between the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as those nations will not exist as they have been for most of the Great Tribulation.

Until then, yes, expect to see the ‘special relationship’ more or less continue, despite some political issues.
