European Commission Vice President, Vera Jourova, said that companies deploying generative AI tools with the potential to spread disinformation should be publicly labeled…

Officials in the European Union have discussed additional measures that would make artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, more transparent to the public.

On June 5, Vera Jourova, the European Commission’s vice president for values and transparency, told the media that companies deploying generative AI tools with the “potential to generate disinformation” should place labels on their content as an effort to combat “fake news.”

“Signatories who have services with a potential to disseminate AI generated disinformation should, in turn, put in place technology to recognize such content and clearly label this to users.”

Jourova also referenced companies that integrate generative AI into their services — such as Microsoft’s Bing Chat and Google’s Bard — as needing to create “safeguards” to prevent malicious actors from utilizing them for disinformation purposes.

In 2018 the EU created its “Code of Practice on Disinformation,” which acts as both an agreement and a tool for players in the tech industry on self-regulatory standards to combat disinformation.

Major tech companies, including Google, Microsoft and Meta Platforms, have already signed onto the EU’s 2022 Code of Practice on Disinformation. The European Union has long wanted to push aside USA dominance of Big Tech and bind it with numerous regulations. This is one more step. Notice also:

Just as the timing of the world’s first AI treaty starts aligning with the EU legislative agenda, an American-led push to exclude private companies might make it not worth the paper it is written on.

The Council of Europe is an international body in charge of upholding human rights in its 46 participating countries, plus observers including the United States, Canada, Israel and Japan.

Since the start of 2022, all of these countries have been involved in the Committee on Artificial Intelligence, tasked with drafting the Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law.

For the EU, this binding international treaty could be a benchmark for its regulation of Artificial Intelligence, the AI Act.

That said, there are many risks of AI and sadly, the current widely-used AI platforms often give wrong, yet seemingly right, answers. So, yes, there are reasons for the EU to have legitimate concerns.

Now, there are several biblical prophecies I believe are supportive of the existence of computers and apparently AI in this age. Notice something from the Hebrews scriptures, also known as the Old Testament:

4 … Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. (Daniel 12:4)

Computers, followed by the internet and smart cellular telephones, have helped fulfill the above.

Is AI potentially dangerous? Is there a dark side?

Yes.

The reason is not the technology per se, the reason is that as human societies go more and more away from God’s standards of morality, they will use more things in a negative manner. Plus in the case of AI programs like ChatGPT, they have been programmed with biases (e.g. watch ChatGPT and 666). Also, lately I and one of my sons have been testing ChatGPT as well as Bing AI and found them lacking,  biased, and contradictory–and, often when challenged, they want to give up (as that is how Bing AI is programmed) as opposed to truly admitting their errors. The AI biases are dangerous–be careful about relying on AI conclusions.

The Apostle Paul warned the following related to the last days:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come … 13 … evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:1,13)

AI looks to be part of that. The EU is suggesting they can reduce that, perhaps its rules will, yet more deception will come.

Yet, something that sounds even more frightening will come–and AI looks like it will be used related to it.

In both the Old and New Testaments, the Bible shows that a European dictator will rise up (Daniel 11:21-44; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10; Revelation 17:12-13).

He will want to be worshiped as if he were God in the end times:

3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).

He will be lawless and against the truth, and most of the world will be deceived:

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, (2 Thessalonians 2:9-13).

The following New Testament scriptures support the view that to some degree, advanced computer software, which may or may not be considered as ‘artificial intelligence,’ will be used by the coming European Beast of the Sea dictator (Revelation 13:1-10) as well as his Beast of the Earth (Revelation 13:11) accomplice:

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)

Notice that the Beast of the Earth gets the people who dwell on the earth to worship the other Beast. While he will likely have what will be some type of demonic superpower (Revelation 16:13), it is possible that something like artificial intelligence will be used to get the image of the Beast to speak and to get those who will not worship the Beast to be killed. AI will likely be involved in forcing the Mark of the Beast.

Additionally, when it comes to controlling buying and selling, that was not possible before this digital age of the 21st century. That is something that computers will be involved in. Computer software is a type of artificial intelligence. And sometimes it is specific programing that is considered AI as well.

The forcing of worship under the penalty of death, the control of buying and selling, etc. is totalitarian control.

That is coming and AI appears to be part of it.

It will be in place no later than during the time of the Great Tribulation.

Is AI in the Bible?
