After federal agents withdrew from Portland late last week, neo-Marxist ‘youts‘ broke out the lighter fluid and began torching Bibles, American flags, and a severed pig’s head donning a police hat. …

Meanwhile, over 150 rounds were fired at a shooting downtown, striking a woman in the arm who was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Many of the protesters want to change the USA. Many of them prefer more of a social and antibiblical agenda:

Ian Miles Cheong tweeted, “Left-wing activists bring a stack of Bibles to burn in front of the federal courthouse in Portland…I don’t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion.”

And Eric Metaxas made an important historical comparison. He tweeted, “A century before the Third Reich, German poet Heinrich Heine prophesied that where books are burned, humans will soon be burned also. Antifa/BLM has chosen the brazenly atheist path of Joseph Goebbels. Let the reader understand.”

This is perceptive. The very spirit motivating the Leftist Mobs in American cities is the spirit that forces the China’s Uyghur Muslims into reeducation and forced labor camps.

It is the hubris of self-righteousness.

It is the legacy of Marx and Stalin and Mao and all such tyrants.

The very spirit of antichrist is at work today.

In times past, the American public and elites would deplore this conduct. Today, it is cheered from by the masses, the elites and the nation’s rulers. Woe is coming. Even great woes to such a nation and people.

People generally burn Bibles because they do not want people to believe at least parts of what it teaches. More serious persecutions than limited Bible burning is coming (see also Persecutions by Church and State).

The USA most certainly is NOT a Christian nation. And it is moving more and more away from the Bible and respect towards the type of morality that it endorses.

We are seeing social upheaval in the USA:

As the most vociferous component of the electorate, strong liberals are also the most comfortable pushing their agenda. It’s not unreasonable to posit that this squeaky wheel is oiled by widespread, favorable news coverage by an essentially compliant and supportive mainstream media. It’s also reasonable to suggest that the obstreperous left wing of the Democratic Party can be given credit for instigating and nurturing several contentious socio-political movements: the so-called cancel culture; nationwide social justice “peaceful protesting” resulting in hundreds of injuries and several deaths as well as billions of dollars of damage to private and public property; a controversial criminal justice reform effort that regularly returns dangerous criminals to the streets as it strives to defund and neutralize police forces; and an ongoing crusade to delegitimize and suppress the expression of moderate and conservative points of view.

These are hot-button issues for huge chunks of America’s politically moderate and conservative electorate and the boisterous and well organized far left’s support of them is viewed by many as a case of the tail attempting to wag the dog.

The problem for the US is that it is moving farther and farther from the Bible and those in it have a tendency to accept testimonies of leaders that are basically atheists or agnostic.

Jesus prophesied:

7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:7-8)

We are in the ‘beginning of sorrows,’ a time of troubles.

Furthermore, consider the following prophecies:

5 They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation. … 25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:5,25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; … (Ezekiel 21:12)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

6 You have forsaken Me,” says the Lord,
“You have gone backward.
Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you;
I am weary of relenting!
7 And I will winnow them with a winnowing fan in the gates of the land;
I will bereave them of children;
I will destroy My people,
Since they do not return from their ways.
8 Their widows will be increased to Me more than the sand of the seas;
I will bring against them,
Against the mother of the young men,
A plunderer at noonday;
I will cause anguish and terror to fall on them suddenly. (Jeremiah 15:6-8)

Terror will hit not only the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies, but also many in Europe and elsewhere. Police strikes seem intended to get people to realize that this world is not safe.

The Bible shows that we should expect more protests, including violent protests:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)

There is more corruption in the USA. Parts of the divide certainly appears to be intentional. Much of it is ideological. The USA is quite disunited and is becoming more polarized.
