ZH: Wall Street Reacts To Today’s “Phenomenally Strong” Jobs Report

The Associated Press reported the following:

August 5, 2022

America’s employers added a stunning 528,000 jobs last month, restoring all the jobs lost in the coronavirus recession. Unemployment fell to 3.5%, lowest since the pandemic struck in early 2020.

July’s job creation was up from 398,000 in June and the most since February.

The red-hot jobs numbers from the Labor Department on Friday arrive amid a growing consensus that the U.S. economy is losing momentum. We already know how the markets have responded to this morning’s “good news” in the jobs data – rate-hike expectations soaring, bonds, stocks, and bullion crushed as the dollar spikes.

The market is now pricing in 70% odds of a 75bps hike in September (up from 25% at the start of the week) and over a notably7 more aggressive tightening cycle than was expected a week ago…

Omair Sharif, founder of Inflation Insights LLC, says 75 basis points next month from the Fed is now “the base case.”

Randall Kroszner, a former governor at the Fed and now an economics professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, speaks on Bloomberg Television:

“I think it’s really clear that they are on a path to continue to raise those rates. Certainly 75 basis points will be on the table for the for the next meeting. The thing is not only the strength of the labor market, but it is also the significant increase in wages higher than expected upward revisions.”

Bloomberg’s Ven Ram:

This is a phenomenally strong jobs report, way stronger than forecast and more than the average payrolls expansion for the year through June. This will increase chatter for a 75-bp move from the Fed, and the reaction should be along those lines

Neil Dutta, head of US economic research at Renaissance Macro Research LLC, warns we may be in for a hard landing now:

“This jobs report is consistent with an inflationary boom. The Fed has a lot more work to do and in an odd way, that the Fed needs to get more aggressive in pushing up rates, makes the hard-landing scenario more likely.”

Bruce Richards, chairman and CEO of Marathon Asset Management — a $24 billion global credit manager — thinks the Fed should be more aggressive …

John Bradyat RJ O’Brien says:

“The market is going to price in a more aggressive Fed, only raising the odds of a hard landing somewhere down the road.” …

And finally Academy Securities’ Peter Tchir notes that The Fed will not be able to ignore that wage pressure. …

A “hard landing” means that some “experts” believe that the economy will be hurt.

Another factor to consider here is that presuming the US Federal Reserve increases interest rates further, as many expect, this will increase the cost of mortgages as well as greatly increase the amount of interest that the US government pays on its debts.

When interest rates get back to more historical levels, this will be part of a downward spiral that will essentially take the entire US economy down with it.

Notice the following end-time prophecy and consider how it would apply to the USA:

2 And the Lord answered me:

“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.

4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.

5 “Moreover, wine is a traitor,
an arrogant man who is never at rest.
His greed is as wide as Sheol;
like death he has never enough.
He gathers for himself all nations
and collects as his own all peoples.”

6 Shall not all these take up their taunt against him, with scoffing and riddles for him, and say,

“Woe to him who heaps up what is not his own—
for how long?—
and loads himself with pledges!”
7 Will not your debtors suddenly arise,
and those awake who will make you tremble?
Then you will be spoil for them.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you,
for the blood of man and violence to the earth,
to cities and all who dwell in them. (Habakkuk 2:2-8; English Standard Version)

The USA is greedy. It has been issuing “pledges,” like Treasury bills and bonds, that it never intends to pay back.

The USA is also the most indebted nation in the history of humanity and those in it should try to understand this prophecy. Rising interest rates mean that it will cost the US government more to service its debt–this will one day be truly unsustainable. Perhaps it should be noted that the United Kingdom seems to have the second highest amount of total debt (https://countryeconomy.com/national-debt accessed 07/27/22).

Notice that God tells Habakkuk that those who read this should run–that means they should take proper spiritual action now (cf. Luke 21:36), and then, eventually physically flee (cf. Revelation 12:14-16).

The Anglo-American world order will come to an end. Accumulation of debt, and then having to pay historically ‘normal’ interest rates will strain the national economies of the USA and UK more than almost anyone will believe. It will be a financial crisis beyond what Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, US President Joe Biden, or Wall Street analysts would consider possible.

Those who think the current world order with the USA’s dollar on top will last several decades are in error.

What will ultimately happen to the economy of the USA will be much more devastating than the “hard landing” some pundit now expect.
