Exorcism goes mainstream: Churches assemble in Rome to learn ‘best practice’
May 11, 2019
Exorcism is going multi-denominational. Where once those competing for the souls of followers would burn each other as heretics and engage in bloody wars, the world’s mainstream Christian denominations are now rallying together to battle a resurrected threat.
And that’s no less than Satan himself.
The Roman Catholic Church has for the first time opened up its annual exorcism class in Rome to representatives of all major Christian faiths. The Pontifical University of Regina Apostolorum is a Vatican-affiliated university in Rome that has been conducting the increasingly popular annual exorcism conventions for Catholic priests for the past 14 years, reports news.com.au.
But now the doors of the 14th Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation Course have been thrown open to groups once considered heretical and demon-infested only a few short centuries ago.
Now some 250 Catholics, Lutherans, Greek Orthodox and Protestant priests have assembled to arm themselves with the sword of the holy word to battle Satan amid the souls of their parishoners. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12229987
Rome, March 30th, 2018. From May 6th to 11th, the 14th Course on Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation will be held at the pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome.
The course, organized by the Sacerdos Institute of the Athenaeum and the GRIS (Group for Socio-religious Research and Information), is the first in the world and proposes a careful, multidisciplinary academic research on the ministry of exorcism and prayer of liberation. In this year’s edition, two main innovations will be introduced: ecumenical in-depth analysis and testimonies about exorcism coming from the 5 continents. The course is aimed at offering a rich and articulate reflection about a subject that receives too little or, sometimes, controversial attention: the ministry of exorcism and the prayer of liberation. https://www.upra.org/comunicati-stampa/press-accreditation-for-the-exorcism-and-prayer-of-liberation-course/
This and many other aspects of the ecumenical agenda are not leading to good.
But yes, the groups had issues with each other historically. Protestant Reformer Martin Luther referred to the pope as the Antichrist. Notice also the view of at least one Catholic pontiff was that the Protestant faiths were inspired by the devil:
Priest P. Kramer (21st century): Pope St. Pius V teaches in his Catechism, the Roman Catechism — also known as the Catechism of the Council of Trent — that all of the Protestant religions are false religions, they’re inspired by the devil; and therefore their fruits are evil…The Protestant religions, as such, are inspired by the devil, as Pope St. Pius V teaches in his catechism. (Kramer P. The Imminent Chastisement for Not Fulfilling Our Lady’s Request. An edited transcript of a speech given at the Ambassadors of Jesus and Mary Seminar in Glendale, California, September 24, 2004. THE FATIMA CRUSADER Issue 80, Summer 2005, pp. 32-45 http://www.fatimacrusader.com/cr80/cr80pg32.asp viewed 4/15/08 )
Of course, not all Protestants want this unity. Here are some comments from one who was opposed to this conference:
For the first time in 14 years, the Roman Catholic Church has opened up its annual exorcism class in Rome to all major Christian faiths to stem the rising tide of demonic forces around the world.
Ah, Rome, drunken with the blood of the saints, Rick Warren would feel right at home here. You will remember that back in 2014, Rick Warren gushed effusively about ‘our pope’, and what a great jobs he was doing. Well, now Pope Francis has invited Christian pastors to come to Rome and learn the ways of Babylon in how to ‘cast out devils’. Not surprisingly 241 people have taken the bait from the man in the fish hat to become trained in how to use Roman Catholics idols and icons to perform exorcisms. If it wasn’t so profoundly sad, it would be pretty funny. …
Now run along and be a good, little Laodicean, the childless and unholy ‘father’ Pope Francis is sitting on Satan’s seat with his arms open and waiting to receive you. If you tell him that Rick sent you, you’ll get a special prize. Here’s a hint, it’s very dry, it’s hot, and there’s no escape. Now if you really want to know how to ‘cast out the devil’ from a person, it’s really easy. Just open up a King James Bible and show them how to get saved. And that’s something that no one in the Vatican can teach you. They wouldn’t even know where to begin.
Rome opens up Vatican exorcism course to all major Christian faiths
FROM THE CHRISTIAN POST: “The idea is to help each other, to establish best practices if you will,” Father Pedro Barrajon, 61, one of the organizers of the 14th edition of the “Course on Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation,” taking place at the Pontifical University of Regina Apostolorum, told the Telegraph. “This is the first time that different denominations have come together to compare their experiences on exorcisms.”
The one week course which is taught in Italian at a cost of approximately $450 is being held May 6- 11. It is described as the first course in the world that proposes careful academic and interdisciplinary research of exorcisms.
“Expelling the devil goes back to the earliest origins of the Christian Church,” Barrajon said. “The Catholic rite is very structured, whereas some of the other churches are more creative, they don’t use a precise format.” …
Rick Warren Leading Laodicean Christians To Rome
Rick Warren is seen slyly referring to Pope Francis as “our pope”, and then going on to brag about what a great job he is doing. He wants you to blithely assume that of course Pope Francis is the “spiritual head” over all of Christianity and not simply over the Roman Catholic corporation. He slips it in like that’s what everyone already thinks and believes. This is nothing more than mental conditioning. A bible believing Christian under no circumstances ever would acknowledge that any pope in the Roman system had any sort of rule over them of any kind. https://www.nowtheendbegins.com/vatican-is-bringing-christian-pastors-rome-to-training-to-perform-catholic-ritual-exorcisms-using-graven-idols-saints-icons/
While I do NOT believe that those who are participating in the exorcism conference are real or Laodicean Christians, it is true that Protestants like Rick Warren are trying to push an ecumenical agenda that the Bible warns against. For details, see Beware: Protestants Going Towards Ecumenical Destruction!
But this conference is a sign that more and more Protestants and Eastern Orthodox are moving towards an improper ecumenical unity with Rome.
As far as demons go, they do exist (see also Close Encounters of a ‘Spirit’ Kind).
But no, real Christians would not wish to be taught how to exorcise them by the Church of Rome.
For example, the painting of the 16th century Catholic saint Francis Borgia performing an exorcism, as depicted by Francisco Goya shows both clerical garb and a crucifix–none of those were used by early Christians (see Were the Early Duties of Elders/Pastors Mainly Sacramental? What was their Dress? and What is the Origin of the Cross as a ‘Christian’ Symbol?), nor does it need to be done in Latin (which neither Jesus nor his disciples spoke) as many seem to think (though the Vatican does not require Latin for exorcism). Anyway, whatever the Vatican is teaching is not the original practice of the apostles or their earlier followers.
But, of course, the Church of Rome is a big organization with a lot of supporters.
Now let’s see the following warning from Jesus about taking the broad way and casting out demons:
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:13-23)
So, even if it appears that exorcisms are successful, that is not proof someone is a Christian. As far as lawlessness goes, check out the following article: Mystery of Iniquity (two related sermons are also available: The Mystery of Iniquity and The Mystery of Lawlessness.).
The Bible further warns that most will be deceived in the future by signs and lying wonders:
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)
Such wonders may include apparitions (cf. Isaiah 47:5-6,12), exorcisms (Matthew 7:22-23), talking statues (cf. Revelation 13:15), etc.
More and more in the world seem to be setting themselves up to accept such things.
Do not be part of this.
The New Testament teaches:
3 … contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. (Jude 3)
17 “Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)
Rome’s exorcism practices were not part of the faith once for all delivered to the saints.
Early Christian leaders did NOT seek unity to those who were heretical or not Christians–instead they denounced those views (see Continuing History of the Church of God).
UPDATE 05/12/19 p.m. We just uploaded a related video:
Pope Francis holds ecumenical exorcism conference: A sign of the end?
From May 6th through the 11th, 2019, the Vatican hosted the ’14th Course on Exorcism and Prayer.’ For the first time ever, Pope Francis invited non-Catholic clergy to also attend–for the first time ever. So, Roman Catholic priests, as well as Lutheran, Protestant, and Greek Orthodox clergy attended. Were they taught biblical exorcism or something else? What are some signs that prove that? Does any of this have to do with Babylon? Was this a conference promoting original Christian practices or more like something warned against? Did Jesus say that some will say they have cast out demons in His name, but that they were not real Christians? Will people accept signs and lying wonders?
